Hotpads for Christmas
Dec. 23rd, 2010 03:18 pmMy boyfriend has been in his new apartment for about 5 months now and has a woeful amount of anything domestic outside of some hand-me-down dishtowels and some old plates from his mom. So for Christmas this year, in addition to a few other store bought goodies, I made him some hot pads. Not the best looking things in the world as I don't really sew (mostly cross stitch) but they are better than nothing. My mom helped me with putting the binding on the edges, cause yeah, that wasn't working very well. Not sure if the pics are too large, so they're all going under the cut. Sorry that they're a bit blurry, my mom needs a new camera.

All four of them that I made...they were supposed to be the same size, that didn't work out so well.

The two that ended up the same size.

The front.

The back.
I used 100% cotton matterial for the outside, and the batting i used as a cotton polyester blend. My mom suggested that as it would be slightly less flamable. We're also making him hot pads, but they're not done yet. They're being made out of some upholstery remnants that I got from a friend. We're going to fray the edges so that I didn't have to deal with the binding again.
