staining wood
Jun. 12th, 2003 07:47 pmi have plans on getting a bookshelf for my apartment, seeing as though i am collecting TONS of books between college and novels/leasure reading.
i want to go to my local thrift stores and get something used. if i cannot get something used that i like, i want to go to target and get something like this:

-if i get something with a finish, what would be the best and most inexpensive way to strip it?
-and... i want to stain it with a differnt color stain... like red or green, just something a little different. i know i've seen it done a long time ago on those HGTV shows but never paid attention. does anyone have any advice with that? what are peoples experiences with stains that are not "brown" in color?
-any other advice? all comments are greatly apprecaited!
thank you all ;D
