Polymer clays

Ok. I know nothing about Sculpey/Fimo kinda clays... but I think I'd like to try to make some pins/badges for a party I'm having. I've always wanted to play with it and this seems like as good a reason as any.

Does anyone know:
1. Once I've made something, can I glue it to something else? How well will it stay?
2. Can I write on it once it's baked with a paint pen or a sharpie? Like to personalize it?
3. I will probably be making small flags... is there a trick to making sure the different layers stick together and don't fall apart after it's hardened?
4. How hard is it to work with? Is this a reasonable "beginner's" project?
