Hey all. New to the community. Have back read a bit and noticed the glass beads/marble madness going on. Have thought about giving that a go for something to do while I'm bored at home. Have also contemplated trying lip balm, soap and bath fizzies, but am wondering if anyone knows of a list or website that lists what essential oils can be used on the mouth/skin/body? Thanks, and look forward to seeing what you all are up to!

Notecards

The lastest craft that has been munching up my time is something SO easy and very fun.

I purchased a box of blank notecards at my local paper store. (Xpedex)
And tissue paper. They have tons of cute stuff! My favorite ended up being the old world map. But the animal print was very cute too.

I cut the tissue paper about a 1/4" larger than the notecard, I placed a piece of saran wrap the size of the notecard between the notecard and tissue paper.

Then, put all three layers sandwiched between some scrap paper. I used my clothes iron to melt the saran wrap. This bonds the notecard and the tissue paper. Then, just a trim around the edges. (If I want the edges ragged I use a paint brush dipped in water, trace the edge and pull gently.) And Voila!

Darling notecards.

I was wondering if You people could help. I am making a doll about the size of a barbie doll. Can You give me ideas? Here are the rules:

-It should not break easíly, I have to mail it far away. I have done dolls of clay but that is too breakable.
-It should not cost much and the materials should be very common, I don't have the same artstores here that You have in USA
-It should not be difficult to make and I want to make it fast.
-It should not weight much.

I would be very thankfull of any ideas.

I decided to post a picture of a shirt I made at school. It's my own design. The picture is bad but You can see something, right?

My husbands little sister who is 14 is over this weekend. She knows I do crafty things and was asking if I knew how to make tissue paper with real leaves inside.

I was thinking I could do it with glue but worried that the glue would be hard to get even and it might dry really hard. I am now wondering if I could sandwich the tissue paper and leaves with saran wrap and iron it.

Anyone know if that would work out or have any other easy ideas for getting some leaves, flowers, and stuff in tissue paper?

Hey, in case you didn't know, this weekend is one of the periodic sales at Jo-Ann (Fabrics, Crafts, Etc, whatever your local place calls it if you have one!) - and they are running the 99 cent sales on McCall's and Simplicity. Simplicity seems to be unlimited dollar patterns, McCall's is 5/$5.

So if you're interested, get down there ASAP! :)

Hey, I'm new here, although I've been reading posts for quite awhile. I've recently gotten into: sewing, soapmaking, lipbalm and other cosmetics making, gel candles, gardening, beads, and making marble magnets. Hopefully I'll be posting pics soon.
I have a quick question about marble magnets. I got a bag of marbles from Michaels, but some weren't very transperent. They had a glare which wouldn't let me see thru to the image. Does this happen with all marbles? (some in the bag were ok)

Waaaaaah!

'Ello all! I'm Jess and I'm neeeew. I love doing crafty things! Anyways...I have just made a mess of my house and it's ALL YOUR FAULT! Hehe I saw how awesomely cool the little marble thingys were so I decided to make them. (surprise surprise huh?) Well those were a success BUT I couldn't figure out what to do with them so I decided to pretend I know how to use a sewing machine and make a bag to put them on. That was a very bad idea. So I have a "killed" bag and little marble things to do nothing with! I'm soo sad! And now there's a bunch of thread and fabric and glue all over the place. Oops I just posted this too early. I hope it deleted...but yeah so that's my crafting story. I hope you enjoyed! (and it's not too long) Bye!

P.S. I saw some of the stuff you guys made. You all rule!!!! You are my heroes! = )
