Help!

I'd like to make some darn rings for me self- and i just want to get some plain blank adjustable rings where you can just glue any piece of crap to the top- and *bam*- instant ring!

Does anyone know where to find these- or what these suckers are called??? I have been all over looking in craft stores and on the web and no luck what so ever- :-(

Any sweet advice would be MUCH appreciated!!! I'll even send ya a couple rings if you would like any!!!!

hey--just letting all you folks in Atlanta//GA know that a new pottery painting studio has
opened up in Lawrenceville!! It's located at Discover Mills Mall (off of Sugarloaf Pkwy) and
its called "The Painting Potter". I got to meet the owner the other day and she is
awesome!! Her and her boyfriend decided to open the studio together and theire prices
are the cheapest I've seen so far (i used to go to Wired N Fired in VaHi, but they just get
sooo prciey!). Anyway--her pottery has one set price--and that includes
-paints
-firing
-glazing
-time
(she DOESN'T charge by the hour!!!)
There is a grand opening this SATURDAY (Nov. 2, 2002) from noon-4:oo pm with food
and music and fun stuff!!! If you'd like to attend, directions are simple :
take 85-NORTH to SUGARLOAF PKWY (pass 285, pass Pleasant Hill Rd. exit...)
get off and you'll see the mall (DISCOVER MILLS) ahead on your left.
Park and enter near the ESPN SKATEPARK and the Painting Potter in ahead next to the
skatepark on your left. See you there

Clay Beads

I just got this awesome set of polymer clay for half off at Jo Ann Fabrics tonight and was planning on making some beads. I looked at a book they had about some different techniques, but there wasn't really that much in it. So does anyone know of some good sites about how to make some neat beads out of polymer clay, or ones with some interesting techniques? Also, since this will be my first time working with it, does anyone have some advice?

Thanks in advance!

Okay everybody...I don't have a pic of this yet, but hopefully I will soon, so I will describe it.
I made a safety pin bracelet last night. the first one I have actually made for myself....
There are fourteen saftey pins on it. The alternate..like head of safety pin at top, head of safety pin at bottom. There are these bead like thing on the safety pins themselves. The whole bracelet is made out of those plastic things you use to put on plastic shapes and iron over so the tops all melted together and you had a design...Know what I am talking about?
Anyways one safety pin (the right side up one) goes black mini bead, dark blue plastic thing, green plastic thing, orange plastic thing.
The upside down safety pin goes, black mini bead, light blue plastic thing, purple plastic thing, red plastic thing.
the top and bottom bracelet parts...go yellow plastic thing, white mini glow in the dark bead, yellow plastic thing, safety pin...then starts with yellow all over again. I alternate safety pins.
It is really cool looking. It turned out better than I thought.

Hey, all! This is my first post here, and I must say I LOVE this community!

Here's the thing. I love to crochet, but I have a really hard time translating patterns into 3D.

Round 1: Ch 4, 3 dc in first ch, ch 3, 4 dc in same place, ch 3 4 dc in same place,ch 3, join with sl st in top of beg ch 3.

Round 2: Sl st in next 3 dc and in next sp, ch 3, 3 dc in same space, ch 3 (corner), 4 dc in same space, ch 1 * 4 dc, ch 3 (corner), 4 dc all in next sp, ch 1, repeat from * once, join.

Round 3: Sl st in next 3 dc and in corner sp, ch 3, 3 dc, ch 3 (corner), 4 dc all in same sp, ch 1, 4 dc in next sp, ch 1 * 4 dc, ch 3 (corner), 4 dc all in next corner, ch 1, 4 dc in next sp, ch 1, repeat from * once, join.

Round 4: Ch 1, 1 sc in same st, 1 sc in next 3 dc, 5 sc in corner, 1 sc in next 4 dc, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, and continue around, working 1 sc in each dc and in each ch-1 sp and 5 sc in each corner space.
Round 5:Round 5: 1 sc in each st to within the 5 corner sts, 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 7 sc in next st, continue around, working 1 sc in each sc, 7 sc in 3rd sc of 5 corner sts, join with sl st in first sc and cut thread.

Stuff like this is Greek to me!

Does anyone have any hints to deciphering patterns or know of any websites with illustrated directions? I have been trying to make a granny quare for months and they always come out mutated.

Mod Podge

Greetings from a new member! You all seem like such a wonderful and creative bunch of people; maybe you could answer a quick question for me.

I started my first-ever decoupage project tonight; I'm making a Moulin Rouge-themed journal for a Christmas present. I'm working with shiny-finish Mod Podge, and I still have several layers of cutouts to go (I'm letting the first dry overnight). When I'm done, will a few more layers of Mod Podge be a good-enough topcoat, or should I look for another clear material to serve as a protective coating? If so, what should I look for? I'd like this thing to be reasonably durable.

I think I'm mostly concerned that the Mod Podge will dry to a tacky finish...
