I REALLY love box purses, but I'm too poor to go out and buy one, so I decided I'd make one with stuff I had around the house, since I'm a pack rat and I have a lot of junk.
Cut for your creative conveniance )
Thanks! ::much hugs and love::

following welcome crossposted to my new community [livejournal.com profile] mailwhore.

greetings people, and welcome!

i was urged to start this community after being prompted by TWO! peoples suggestions that i do so.
that was enough ammunition to fire off my motivation and so here we are.

everyone loves mail.
we all know that.
so this, yet another mailart community will be for the primary reason of continual moving objects.
friendship books, altered books, and the like.

so join!
be merry!

I have made some progress on the double-stranded variegated camo, and it's coming along quite nicely. I doubt I'll ever use worsted weight singly again! I'm also planning a Harry Potter scarf for my sister, and I'm going to double-strand that as well.

if anybody is interested!
altered books are a great crafty and unique way to collage.

i have a bunch of cool old pulp mystery/western books.
they're just sitting around and i thought of starting one as an altered book.
it's fresh. and untouched, if anyone would like to be a part, just let me know. i'll set up a list of names to send with the book, so everyone knows the address to send it on to.

until then...

Somebody posted a craft a while back about using broken up cds to make picture frames. I am not sure if it was in this community or not. If anyone has any links to any crafts like this, could you please post them in the comments? Thank you!

I'm getting ready for a show with my batiked eggs...these are pysanky, but not traditional at all.

This pic is right after wax removal, so when they are done they will have 3 coats of varnish, be empty, with a pretty gold finding to hang a ribbon from for ornament purposes. The back reads "Christmas 2002". Last year I sold out the first night....

Look at it snow! )

Has anyone had experience making their own flavor oils for lip balm? Is it even possible? I ask because when I ordered some lip balm pots from here they sent me a free sample of a lip balm made with a flavor oil they're thinking of marketing..it's Starfruit and tastes really yummy! Now I want to make starfruit lip balm for my friends for Christmas, but since the flavor is experimental, I can't buy it online yet. If it was possible to make my own, that'd rock. Could it just be as simple as juicing some starfruits and diluting the juice? Anyone know? Anyone? Bueller? (sorry. :P)

over the past two days i've been sticking red sequins all over my leather mary jane shoes. i've got all the sequins stuck now but does anyone know a way to seal the shoes and protect them without ruining or dulling down the sequins?

thanks in advance

Allrighty ladies, Please be kind this is my first dress and I only used a pattern to get the shape of the sleeves & bust item.

The back doesn't match up at the patchwork part but it's comfy and lined so it'll be warm enough for the winter.
I couldn't have possibly used harder fabric to get stitching back out of when I boof up.
>>eek<< and I bought fabric to make a skirt at the same time that will have the same problems!
