Like so many folks here, I made some of those great marble magnets, but since they were Hanukah gifts they were wrapped and sent out before I could get some pictures of them.
here are some things I did make though )

How can someone unravel a sweater and use the yarn for another project? Can this even be done?

Thanks for the help!

I just started knitting, and my first project is a 2 color striped scarf. Can anyone tell me how to seamlessly blend the 2 different colors? I've tried splicing the second color in, but the results aren't quite what I was hoping for. Help!

Hi there.

I bought my boyfriend a large artist's sketchbook, hardbound with a black cloth cover for Christmas. I want to decorate it to reflect his interests with either a decoupaged collage or a painting, in a wraparound style on the front and back covers. I know he's going to be using it *a lot* and he's not exactly easy on his sketchbooks, so I want to make sure the decorations won't get all crumply or crack and fall off. To that end, which of these decorating methods is sturdiest? And what steps do I need to take to keep whichever artform firmly attached to the cover?

Thanks for any help,
Miranda

Someone recently talked about decoupaging glass bowls and putting a tea light in the middle.

I thought that was a neat idea.
So I was thinking about doing small glass bowls. Something simple like that.

Does anyone here know any good decoupaging sites? I can't seem to find anything:) Like what do I need, etc. Thank you!

I want to make something that could go on a rear view mirror of a car for my boyfriend, but I'm not sure what to make. I have some of his old computer keys that spell out different things, but I'm not sure what I could do with them. Anyone have any suggestions?

Beads!

I'm new to the forum, and I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Liz, and I have always been into crafts. I learned stained glass, wood carving, stenciling and applique in high school, and have done a lot of your standard craft store "make it yourself" kits for ornaments and the like.

I took up beading about 1.5 years ago, and it is my new obsession. I enjoy making bracelets and earrings, as well as wine glass charms and beaded spiders. Regarding technique: I usually stick with glass, crystal or semiprecious beads, as well as sterling silver or gold-filled components. I string on Accuflex or Softflex beading wire. I buy most of my materials online.

I have a website of my creations up, and have recently decided to turn it into a side business. I'd love feedback on my pieces (good/bad/indifferent), so please take a look and tell me what you like and don't like!
My site is called Lizzie's Things.

Thanks for listening!

Hi, I'm elizabeth, and I'm new to the craftgrrl community, and crafting in general. I've been browsing around, and there are so many good ideas! I'm on a budget this year, and I've always thought that giving something you made rather than something you bought is always better. I think that this place will be good for me!

hi. i know EVERYONE's making those marble magnets (so am i o:-)) but i was at craftworld and in the section with the marbles they had these marble cube things. they looked like ice cubes and they had them clear and blue and i'm obsessed with them. i want to buy them but i dont have a use for them or something to make with them. all i can think of is like putting them in a basket marked with something witty about ice or make an ice skating rink for snowmen or something ! i just want an excuse to buy them haha.

anyways im a little too excited to make those marble magnets im going to get started now. PERFECT christmas presents for my friends and customizable i will post results :)

ps i dont know if they have it other places but i know here joann's has a 50%off sale on all christmas items. and they have some really nice stuff. hee!

DId anyone see the holiday gift show on DIY network yesterday? I happen to scroll through our channels and realized that DishTV has added it to our lineup... anyway...
A woman made a really neat keepsake box kind of thing where she got four frames of the same size, removed the back, glued the glass in place then glued those together to form a square (rectangle?). Then she took a larger frame (I guess the next size up) removed the back, glued the glass in place, glued four glass drawer pulls onto the corners. She glued this larger frame to the bottom of the smaller box made by the other frames. Another larger frame, done the same way with a glass drawer pull glued to the center became the lid. It was really neat looking, and would probably be inexpensive to do if you got frames from the Dollar General or Family Dollar store... Justw anted to pass that though along.

Another marble magnet question...

I've been making these magnets for quite some time now, but the craft stores near me have stopped selling the size marbles that I like! They either sell the tiny little ones, or the big huge ones, and I want the nice medium sized ones. (Goldilocks, anyone?)

Where do you all find yours?
