Hi everyone,

I was told on sunday that my bellydance troupe was getting together for someone's birthday this evening. Having no money, I jumped on the marble magnet and decoupage bandwagon to make my present!

This box (altoids tin) is decoupaged but has nuances that you can't see from the scan. The top of the box is coated with Envirotex Lite, so it has a very thick glass like resin coating...the pic is a tinted vintage postcard image (I actually had to tint it myself with colored pencils since I only have a laser printer *idea for the future!*), and the back and sides with the text are coated in clear iridescent glitter glaze.

Inside are my marble magnets which I didn't take a pic of because everyone has seen examples. But mine are the ones I posted about the other night..."naughty sentence makers" heh...

Onto the pictures!... )

Odd

While I found this doll to be rather disturbing, I was surprised someone actually made it. I never knew there was such a thing.

Does anyone know of a good link/recipe for flavored cappucino mixes? I'm making hot chocolate mixes for my friends and roomies at college for christmas, and I'd like to add some variety. I'd prefer a french vanilla or mocha flavored mix, but anything will do.

Thankies!

Good news....I don't know if any of you were having the same problem, but I don't eat Altoids. I was afraid I would have to buy them just for the tins for my marble magnets..(Yep, I'm addicted too.)
Anyhoo, I was at Wal Mart this afternoon picking up supplies for said magnets (You can get all the stuff there) and in there holiday decorations section they have all sorts of little tins for like $1 each! Most of them are non-denominational (snowflakes and such) so they would work for all kinds of winter holiday presents. Also, I think they will go on sale after the holidays and be super cheap----then you can decoupage them!!
I am just to excited for my own good.

has anyone seen the latest isue of Budget Living mag? i just thought it was funny because in their make-it section they gave instructions for the marble magnets and the LP bowls, which we all know and love.

i have tons of those plastic juice bottles you can get out of a juice/soda machine. theyre laying on my floor right now. i spend way too much money on juice. anyways. does anyone have any suggestions of what i can do with them? i was thinking maybe cutting the tube into rings, painting them somehow and stringing them... but then that would probabyl end up on my floor yet again! haha. quick! suggestions before they go in the recycling bin!

I saw a mention of it, so I know it's been covered, but I joined after the fact. What all can you do with AOL tins? Anyone care to reiterate for the newbie? /charming smile

I was interested in some making some scented bath salts, and I was wondering exactly how to go about doing this. Do you just put essential oil on epsom salts, or is there another way to do this?

CD bowls?

The record bowl idea is really neat. Does anyone know if there's a way to do it with CDs?

I'm trying to start a craft drawer. Somewhere to keep all my crafty things so I don't have to tear apart my bedroom. Being the newbie that i am to the crafting world, it's looking a little bare. Judging from the contents of my drawer, my favorite crafting thing must be GLUE. good ol' Elmer's, some E6000, two bottles of rubber cement (I lost my first one, bought some more, and found the first one again), a mini hot glue gun, glossy & matte modge podge.. lol.

I was wondering what craft items you use the most, what are your favorites? :)

i remember awhile ago someone posting on how to knit legwarmers.

can anyone help me with this? do i need to use circular knitting needles? and..i'm new to this, how exactly do i um use a circular knitting needle? :) i bought one but i'm confused - how does the cord come into play when knitting?

i'd really appreciate it.

for the record i think the making frequent questions into memories thing is a good idea. i'll help whoever's taking charge of it.

New Scarf

Dec. 4th, 2002 11:10 pm
[identity profile] detholalle.livejournal.com
My mom made me a new scarf today and I want to share the general idea with you all. I can post pictures another time if anyone wants to see it first hand.

The pattern was one of those free ones at Hobby Lobby. Michaels probably has the same one somewhere in their store. It is a normal plain scarf, but the ends are sewn up like 8 inches or so, to make a pocket to put your hands in. I loved this idea because I am one of those people who hates to take gloves on and off all day. It works out perfect for me. Plus, if you wear it so that the pockets face you, nobody can tell that they are there.
Now I was thinking that it would be neat to make those little cotton microwave things to put in the pockets to keep my hands extra warm. I just have to get my hands on some flax seed...

Anywho...that's all. Now it's bedtime. Goodnight! :)

Here's one of my batches of marbles. My camera refused to take a decent picture, so these are some that don't have magnets yet, so they were scanner safe. I used to make these while at work... I've made probably about 200ish.

[identity profile] miabella.livejournal.com
who has the lowest prices on the glass marbles and magnets? i am dying to make some....
