I hadn't cast on enough stitches while making a hat for a friend, so I turned it into a baby hat

i was reading FAQ about CD's.

I have a friend who takes her own and other peoples AOL free trial CDs and otehr CDs that come in the mail. and she tapes them on the wall. with the back facing out. and she tapes home coming pics and prom pics to them in the center. its really cute. just thought i would share.

Oh yeah, and about those AOL cd's (or any other junk cd's) for those of you who have been making crafts out of them, if you put the cd in the microwave for about 3 seconds the surface will crackle and looks really cool.

Its new years eve here, and I thought it time to come up with at least a few new years resolutions, even if i won't keep them. One of them is to be more crafty (of course) because right now if I get crafty at all I just work on my scrapbook (and I dont have many pictures for it at all - BUT! I will be taking some tonight at the party)....

So I'm creating New Years Craft Resolutions! Its a list of things that I'm just dying to do but have never gotten around to doing.... among the things on my list, there is marble magnets, sewing a purse, making candles (heart of wax has some cute ones that I am just absolutely in love with but they don't smell all that great) and create a record clock.

Anyone else have any craft resolutions? Share 'em!!!

I got my trial issue of Ready Made (yay!), and in the feedback setion, one girl was showing off the skirt she made from a pillowcase. This seems like something even I could do with my non existent sewing skills, so I checked the site archives and did a google search to try to find directions. Nothing came up. I know I could wing it and just randomly make something up on my own, but does anyone have the pattern and directions from the previous issue who wants to share?

Thanks!

Okay.... so i just got some bad news today that my boyfriend couldnt transfer colleges this quarter and so he has to go back 3 hours away for the winter..... and I haven't planned anything for him. I want to make him a care package or something, and some crafty things that he could use for his dorm or his classes or whatever, but I dont know what to do.... anyone know of anything that I could throw together really quick-like?

(Thank you, kimmercake, for your posting tips!)

Apologies if this has been 'done'--I am new to Craftgrrl and to LJ--but I was wondering if anyone here has experience, links, or knowledge making a small retaining wall for the garden with stucco/cement encrusted with broken plates, dishes etc?

I don't have a picture available, unfortunately. If I get up to Berkeley anytime soon, I will take a pic of this one building facade which is stucco or cement, with (intact) plates embedded. A friend of a friend was building a small retaining wall for a planting area with this same feature in mind, although her wall is about 3' high and 20' long (and I don't know her well enough to call and ask).

TIA! Lisa

Happy New Year

Remember I posted about putting bubble bath into 12 oz soda bottles after I painted them?

I feel they were a hit. :)

I think I will continue to do this every year too.

I made stickers that said, "Julia's Jolly Bubble Bath and Body Bobbles"...and for the candles I put "Julia's Joyful Candles".

We used the Avery stickers to put on them and I wrapped the soap up in heavy aluminum foil and used that sticker to seal them.

Scarves for everyone!

(L to R)

*Robert is wearing a black & dark green striped T&Q chenille (that doesn't photograph well)

*Christi and Dad are wearing Harry Potter Gryffindor scarves (there was some dispute about whether Burgundy or Claret was more accurate)

*Mom is wearing a periwinkle and purple T&Q chenille scarf

*Matt is wearing a camo scarf from variegated acrylic yarn

*Amanda is wearing a rococco homespun scarf made from almost 3 skeins!

Aren't they lovely!?
