Hello ,everyone. I know this amy not be strictly a D.I.Y craft query, but I have a friend who would like to make a bow, like an Elf type one. A proper one, mind you, that really fires arrows. I think wood is his medium. Any help? please?

I just tried the CD in the microwave thing.....
It is the coolest thing to watch, although it scared the crap out of me!
Also today I am going to make a denim with cherry embroidered purse, I hope it comes out, it is my first.
Does anyone know what I should have my tension and what not on to sew denim?

Occam's Razor / KISS Method

Get thee to Costco.
Purchase a 3 Litre bottle of Chianti. Rationalize using cheap wine because you are going to be adding sugar and stuff so don't asphyxiate over using good wine. Go to the freezer section and pick up a big bag of mixed fruit chunks. Pick up 1/2 gallon carton of a red fruit punch. Buy sugar if you need it...

Use pitcher, fill 2/3 with chianti, add 1 or 2 cups sugar stir until dissolved. Top this with 1/3 fruit punch. Put frozen fruit in the bottom of cups pour Sangria over the fruit... Stand back for accepting rave reviews!

==============================

So I'm really bothered by lots of things in my home that I don't use anymore, but that I hate to throw away because of environmental guilt (i.e. used pens, used mascara containers, nasty shoes I can't donate anywhere).

But the one thing that's bugging me lately is all the old audio cassettes and cases I want to get rid of, or reuse, but I can't figure out how. I've thought about taking all of them to a music resale shop, but looking at my sorry collection, I don't really think I'll get anywhere.

I'd totally be willing to mail these old tapes somewhere to be recycled if such a place exists (I had read about some project somewhere that accepted old videocassettes for recylcling, so I'm thinking along these lines...). Alternatively, any crafting ideas for these tapes and their cases? I've got about 100 just taking us space and driving me crazy, but there's no way I can just chuck them in the trash.

Thanks!

is there any way to make your own bath oil stuff? I'm thinking about going to some antique shops or the flea market or something and buying some cool vintage bottles, and I want to use them to store bath oils and take fake flowers or flower petals and put in it... but would it just be easier to buy some cheap big bottle of bath oil and fill the cool bottle with it?

Those of you who sell your stuff online, do you have your own website or do you use a website created specifically for people to sell their stuff? Like a consignment site?

Do you have any place you can reccommend? Thanks!

i have been looking at websites that some of you gave me in response to my question on brown sugar body scrub. i have one last question before i sit down and make the stuff.

the recipes that i've found range from very detailed and elaborate to quite simple. i'm making the scrub as a gift, because usually i go out and buy a very expensive basket for the person, but i wanted to do this on my own this year. i don't want to spend a lot on just the scrub, so most of these recipes are too much. they call for many types of ingredients, and when i priced everything, it was just too expensive. my question concerns the simple recipes. some just called for brown sugar and one or two other ingredients. the two that i was looking at contain the following. the first is brown sugar, vegetable oil, and vitamin e, while the second is just brown sugar and baby oil.

would these recipes work? i don't want this to be too gloppy and gross.

Hey all. I want to put images on shirts, but dont want to silk screen, because from what I've read about it, it sounds like too much money and time to be spent.

So I was thinking, if I took some transparancy paper and cut out the design i want, then put it over the shirt, and some fabric paint and colored over the transparancy paper, so my design would come out on the shirt, do you think that would work well?

I've never used fabric paint, so can anyone reccomend any brands? Does the paint tend to crack and chip, like the iron on paper for shirt images?

Any ideas/advice would be great. Thanks in advance!

This isn't really all that craft related, but I intend to use the thing for craft-related purposes....

has anyone seen those huge vases that look like giant wine glasses? I mean, these things are BIG! I saw 2 of them at someone's apartment when I went to visit and get ideas for my loft, but I never see her enough to ask her where she got them, but they're really cool and I really want to know where to get them... does anyone know what I'm talking about? I keep searching and I'm not finding what I want....any help?

Does anyone have any recommendations for either specific brands of Heat Presses (for applying heat press transfer paper to t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc..) - or for good places to buy them?

for valentines day, i want to make my boyfriend and me pairs of matching mittens.

could anyone refer me to some mitten patterns on the internet? i checked the FAQ/memories section and couldn't come up with anything. i'd like to keep it fairly simple, as the only thing i've ever knitted before is a scarf.

thanks so much. as always, i <3 this community. :D
