this is a sour post but I felt it had to be done;
I have noticed that almost half the people in this community sell their crafts.
when you take a closer look at the items, it's not uncommon that it's copyrighted material used, from pictures, to patterns to "customized products".
I thought this was a rather safe community and that people would be creative and make their own stuff but earlier today I spotted a girl who had printed user icons from lj and put them in her marble magnets and marble pins. pictures I drew were used without my permission and there were more images I recognized from my lj friendslist. a girl from this community used our icons in order to sell her cheap marbles as her crafts.
this makes me mad as hell.

I think there should be a discussion about copyright and craftyness before things just go downhills. there's a lot of "cheating" going on and it's making things less fun.
you can't buy a cheap sweater at Ms Selfridge and just sew on a patch and sell it as your handiwork. you can't sell buttons with copyrighted images. you can't buy a make-your-own-lipbalm-set and sell the produtcs as your own homemade cosmetics. you can't knit something from a (c) pattern or a personal pattern you spotted here, and sell it as your item. the list goes on and on for ever....

I found this container-loaded site, and the "monthly specials" page has some REAL bargins, including a roll-on lip balm tube for $.20 or a regular tube for $.15.

When I was about 12 yrs I took a quilting class and made a pillow :)
afterwards I made a few other little things, A small doll blanket and such, but my mother's friend did the batting and backing for me.
I have no idea how to do it. I mean...I could probably wing it but id rather ask the experts!
Whats the easiest and most comprehensive way to do it?
preferably by hand.
thanks in advance

i recently finished a puzzle, but i don't want to just glue it and hang it on the wall. i'm thinking, thinking of other ideas for it, so while i'm thinking i am wondering if anyone else has ideas of how to display it, or change it up a little from the "classic glue and hang". thanks to you if you do!

Okay, so I need help... all I ever do is sit and play with my computer and graphics.... well, and study... but that's a whole different story. Anyway, I want to start sewing a quilt. I've seen lots that I like at stores, but they're all much too expensive.... I really want to make one so I have something nice and warm to cuddle up in, but I have no idea how to make one. Any one have any advice, tips, patterns, etc?? I have no idea what I'm doing!!! I'm hoping that I'll get the hang of it and I'll be able to make my boyfriend/almost fiance's parents and grandmother one for Christmas.... or maybe just his mom for her bday in May.......

Is there any suggestion as to patterns of fabric too? I know that some fabrics just don't go together, and sometimes when you look at a fabric it doesn't look like it'd match but when you quilt it together it does....

If I had the time to drive to Tennesee for a week I'd have my grandmother teach me.... and I think my mom might know how but I've never seen her make one (even though she's been wanting to make one for my sister and I) and I'm sure I could ask for her help, but I'm somewhat.... independent? and don't take well to having someone right there telling me that I'm doing something wrong....

Thanks in advance!

i was at michaels and they had no idea what i was talking about and directed me to fragrance oils for candles.

is that what it is?

i was going to look over at hobby lobby but they were closed.

so i don't know.

Here's a picture of four ribbon belts I made last year. They were some of the first I ever made and aren't the best quality, but they're the only ones I haven't given away, so I thought I'd share. I've put up directions on my site.

Hello everyone!
I'm making a new bulletin board to hang all my goodies on and I was wondering if anyone knows whether it's possible to go buy a plain sheet of cork anywhere? I've looked at Wal-Mart and JoAnn to no avail. Also, anyone know a good place to pick up a piece of sheet metal? I plan to turn half of my new board into a magnet board...for all the new marble magnets I made this weekend = ) Thanks in advance!

I haven't done any sewing since home ect 8 years ago! I tried my hand at a new seat cover for my pathetic junk computer chair find, and a kitty bed for my (4) cats!

I need help thinking of fortunes for a book I'm making in my Art Of The Book class. The title of the book is "in bed" so I need ones that would go along with that theme well. Thanks for any/all help!

Rubber stamps are super easy to make with a set of carving tools (I know they have them at Michael's) and the relatively cheap raw stamp materials. You can do them out of erasers or other things too, but I really like the stamp rubber the best and it's not that expensive. Anyway, they're great because they can be used for a ton of different projects later. I made a giraffe stamp (no picture yet) for my roommate's Christmas present of giraffe stationary. I printed the giraffe with gold ink on the corner of each piece of paper, and then made envelopes using a tiny stamp of her initials. Anyway, I do have pictures of two I made for myself. Clicky, clicky )
