So, I'm knitting a striped scarf in a K1, P1 ribbing stitch. It seems to be coming out great, except for one problem: the right hand edge, where I drop/cut the first color and begin the second color. While the left hand side looks nice and tight, the right looks bumpy and loose. What am I doing wrong? I hold the yarn tightly when beginning the first row of the second color, but no matter what it always comes out looking AWFUL. Anyone have any tips or techniques to keep stripes looking neat?

i have this thing for making vases and bud vases from old bottles, especially odd shaped ones. i sold my first collection of them and have started on a second using the things i've learned from this community.

Hi-ya everyone!! how is everyone doing today?

My craft-O-meter is on high today, and well just some inspiration came to me from coming the library yesterday...

I want to make a messenger bag! Pref. one that is sturdy enough to hold a few books. Anyone ever make one? Is it hard?

So anyone know where I can get any patters for a good messenger bag? Or any tips on how I can make one and what kind of fabric should I use and well... How to make straps hehe.

If you can help, I will love you forever, honestly I will :)

i've been dreaming about a necklace made with resistors. has anyone done this? any suggestions? i found a few inspirational designs here. i'm worried that the metal would be irritating, since electronic parts aren't quite made of hypoallergenic material ...

here's what i did to this round tin i had laying around:

i modpodged the top with some magazine cutouts in various shades of hot pink, and then put a flower stencil on top and spray painted black paint over it. the sides and the bottom are sprayed black also. and a few more layers of mod podge on top for the extra shiny-ness.

  • A grate from a bamboo steamer my grandmother gave me ages ago
  • Some novelty erasers I got at a local gift shop
  • Black fabric
  • Cardboard
  • Hot glue
  • Cheapo clock fixture from the fabric store

    Final product?
