Last night I finally finished the scarf I was making for my grandmother (now I just have to make one for my best friend, my brother, and my friend's mom!). Then I tried my hand at making some wristbands.

Quick question... I'm using an elmer's glue/water paste for paper mache at a ration of 1 part glue to 3 parts water. I read this in memories, but it's really thin. Is it supposed to be like that? Also, should I let my newspaper strips soak in the mixture for a while before I start doing stuff with them?

Postcards for Peace

This is an art call I came across today, through a friend of mine. I happen to be lucky that this is based in my city, so I'll be able to see the entire finished product. If you'd like more information, please see their website : http://www.postcardsforpeace.homestead.com

The intro to the call says:
"We are calling on artists to send in their 5x7 inch handmade postcards to be displayed as part of our U.S. flag and other related designs. We intend to cover one entire wall, if not two entire galleries with postcards."

If you're interested in the quick and dirty specifics, here they are:

  • peaceful theme.
  • No age/talent limit.
  • Pls indicate whether the artist is a child, teen, or adult on the card.
  • include name, city, state and/or country and title on the back.
  • cards to be 5x7 inches, and under 4oz in weight.
  • packaging should be no thicker than 1/2 inch and one side no longer than 6 inches so it will fit thru a mail slot.
  • no postcards will be returned b/c of volume of submissions expected.
  • ideally the exhibit will travel.

    Send to:
    Dicere Gallery
    5827 Bramble Avenue
    Cincinnati, Ohio 45227
    U.S.A.

They will begin hanging the show on March 3. Contributions will be added to the show through April 6. Send postcards to arrive by February 15 if possible so they may catalogue submissions.

Britex outlet sale in San Francisco.

    Oh my word.

Good thing I have to work, because I'm broke, and there's no way I can afford a trip even at sale prices.
