Hi All~

I have 8 feet of black diamond mesh (tulle) and wanted to make a skirt out of it for a fetish event I'm attending.

The issue? I want it to be no-sew at this point in time. Mostly because I can't sew. Heh.

My original idea was to cut it and wear it similar to a sarong, with black tights underneath, but it doesn't lay properly and isn't long enough.

So, considering I'll be sewing by hand AND on a strict deadline (by thursday) does anyone have any ideas and/or quick online patterns they can point me to?

I found these on the Dollar Stretcher website.

Personally, I like sugar scrubs a LOT better because my skin is very sensitive and the salt tends to scratch it (which stings once the salt then gets in the scratches!). But these sound pretty good for those with tough enough skin! Thought some people might like having them...

Here are the recipes )

I recently bought myself Knitting Pretty and I love it! I worked up a beer cozy for a Valentine's Day gift - it went so fast and easy that I made a second one! I used Red Heart yarn in blue and red, and the heart pattern is borrowed from the one for the cheesylove sweater at knitty.com This is my first attempt to work with two colors in knitting! I haven't even done stripes yet! Talk about jumping in, but I am very pleased with the results!

I can't knit worth a darn, but if any of you are feeling A) crafty and B) charitable, there's a sweet little Pomeranian named Heir Baron Munchausen who needs your help. He turned up on this gal's door and is in desperate need of medical attention. Also, since he's teeny weenie, he needs some sweaters and a dog bed. I only wish I were cool enough to be able to knit dog sweaters. Maybe you are?

Someone had shared this link in [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl for a spiffy valentine project. Our homeschool group has a valentines party every year, and I knew it would easily be adapted for that purpose. We added some craft foam hearts with tacky glue for the recipient's name on one side, and the givers name on the other.

Of course, there are 45 recipients - and I have three kids, so that makes.... )

I am making my boyfriend a couple of things for Valentine's Day.
Although I am not sure what to draw him, what do guys like?
I know in his apartment he has various art pieces but I wanted some suggestions.
I wanted to make him a painting, make him a t-shirt and other little things.

Any ideas what guys like as art or t-shirt art?

One of my students' Dads works for the local newspaper, and he just donated a box of really cool paper for my kids to work with. It's paper that they use when bundling newspaper to sort of protect the top and bottom papers in each bundle. Anyway, I don't know where they get this paper, but it looks like really cool, vintage fabric! Soooo cute! My kids made Valentines with them today, and I made a few for Olivia (my baby girl) to give away at daycare. I'll try to photograph and post if anyone's interested.

I never thought of asking the newspaper for scraps of this paper, but I think I'm gonna...

Every year I throw an Oscar Party, and last year's was sort of lame (due to restricted finances and lack of enthusiasm on my part). Well, this year's is going to be much bigger and brighter and better, and so I'd like to make a lot of special decorations, favors, etc. I saw these cute film canister invites on plumparty.com, but they're way too pricey. Does anyone know where I can get similar materials to make my own?

My other thought is that if I go with an Asian theme (I've been dying to order a party pack of bubble tea mixes!), I could do an Asian-inspired invite. Again - any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I'm not exactly the biggest follower of Valentines Day. But, I didn't want to completely disregard it. I've just recently gotten into a new relationship so I didn't want to go too far out with the Valentines stuff. So, I made my own Valentine which I'm going to attach to a small gift for the person I'm dating.

I plan to make a few less dorky ones for friends, and my little sister.

I made the card with a simple index card (the larger kind) and colored paper. I have 10+ patterns of the Friskers Paper Edgers which helped a lot! Very simple stuff.

Pictures here (sorry for the poor quality):

While reading an assignment my attention span snapped and I found myself looking around my room for things to do. I thought of my bag of bumper and other large stickers and grabbed that. In there I had a couple of bumper stickers that I had gotten for free during campus awareness days that I'll probably never use. So I cut the letters apart. I figure that later I'll think of some use for them. Whether it'll be a think-n-stick ransom note or an easy way to decorate a tin, I don't know.

I really like having all these random letters now. If you go to college or are ever in a place that has free stickers (rallies, fairs, political events, etc) grab some for your craft stash. I'm not the only one with a craft stash, am I? These have joined my cut up CDs, spikes, and other random gatherings :)

Monday night I cut apart my stamps so they'd fit in a recovered tin. Those things just beg to be filled. I have another one that's just been spray painted and I stuck my no-sew snaps in there. The recovered one is just covered in duct tape since one night I felt the need to do something with it and figured it was duct tape or running out to walmart to buy paint that would work on metal (I didn't know that acrylic would work then). I thought the addiction would just be for collecting and covering the tins. Little did I know it would expand to filling them, too!
