Does anyone have a link to make husk pillows? For the life of me I can't remember the name of the seed that the husks are from. They are popular in Japan, and they were featured on Martha Stewart a few years back. Starts with a "B".
Found it!!!! http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel1567

Anyway, the husks hulls take on your form and they are supposed to be good for support while laying down and reading etc, plus they pull moisture away from your skin.

I can't wait to make them!!!!

I just have to say,
THIS COMMUNITY ROCKS

I have been home tonight (like a loser like a cool crafty girl) and I'm just browsing and adding entries to my "memories" so that I can refer to them when I'm feeling crafty. Everyone is so full of great ideas!

(Parts of this post have been x-posted to [livejournal.com profile] hp_costuming & [livejournal.com profile] knitting.)

I love this community. ^^ So, I thought I'd share some pictures of what I made my boyfriend for Valentine's Day (technically we were celebrating our anniversary, which is on the 13th, but that's a long story...). Last year I bought him a stuffed teddy bear that was holding a heart shaped box. I cut out 12 heart shaped pieces of construction paper and wrote a memory on each one and stuck them in the box. This year I continued that tradition. I don't have any pictures of that, but they're nothing snazzy anyway. ^^ I also knitted him a willie warmer. ^^ It's striped in royal blue and hunter green (his favorite colors) and it fits fairly well. ^^ I also knitted a cute little blue thong "for" him.

Pictures of knitted items are here. )

Now for the patterns. I spotted one of those free project sheets in Wal-Mart today and it was for "Wizard Scarves." ^^ I'll be using my own pattern for my scarves, but I thought these might be useful to someone else. Odds are you can find your own project sheet at Wal-Mart, but I've been having problems finding stuff there, so I thought I'd share this anyway. There's a crochet pattern and a knit one. They're not really all that movie-accurate, but I thought someone might be able to get some use out of 'em. ^^ Enjoy!

I think this is my first time posting here. ^^

question

Hey.. I'm new, and I've got a question coming from a novice sewer.

I bought a pattern straight from 1963, and I'm very badly wanting to make a dress from it, but the bust size is about 5 inches to small. The rest of the pattern is fitting, is there anyway I could alter the top of the dress without messing up the entire thing? Any advice would be highly appreciated :] thanks

I was flipping through the channels yesterday, when i stopped on MTV, and "Crib Crashers" was on, and they were making these ticket bowls, out of those big round rolls of tickets that are often used in raffles and things. I thought they were kind of neat. You just push the middle out, and shape it into a bowl, it seemed quite easy. You can go to MTV's website for the instructions at:
http://www.mtv.com/onair/crib_crashers/episode_4/

and this is a picture of the final product.

i finally got out the sewing machine that i got for christmas. see, i was afraid of it because i know my first couple of projects will be messy and i tend to be a perfectionist :)

so i made a cat bed out of an airline blanket, and stuffed it with poly-fill. but i don't like poly fill. does anyone have recommendations for stuffing pillows and such? thanks!

hi, i've been watching this community for a while and just decided to post a few pics of some things i've made in the past, since everything i've made lately has been given away as gifts.

I'm sorry if i've missed it, but can someone tell me if there is a memory section telling you cool things and ways to decorate tins? if not, could i get some suggestions? like how to do it and so forth maybe a site? i've been collecting altoid and aol tins and i'd love to do something with them.

i really like things like 'day of the dead' decorations and so forth.

Hey everyone, I joined this community a while ago, and I have a question.
I want to make this doll:
http://www2d.biglobe.ne.jp/~dhnoah/make_00.htm
but I do not know where to get sawdust or "stoneclay". Any help in finding these will be appreciated.

Thank you!

Since I've never posted the jewelry I've been making I thought I'd post the latest piece. I made it for a 9 year old girl, so it's pretty simple. I wish I had a prettier clasp for it, but this one is magnetic and that makes it really easy to put on. Anyway, here it is.

By the way, the hat I'm wearing in the icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] bionicgrrl. I love it!

I've seen people wearing these cute belts made with leather laces and soda can tabs, it looks really cute. But I can't find directions to make them anyqhere. Anyone have any ideas? I didn't see it in the memories either so if this is too off topic I apologize.

i took two pyrex bowls, one slightly smaller than the other. i melted the record over the inverted small bowl and when it was soft enough, puth the big bowl over it. then i put it out to cool, a bit of rocking the bowls wiiill release the vynil. they are closer and tighter and deeper.

one is currently the shade on my lava lamp, the other is holding my meds right now and will soon to be home to a silk flower arrangement.

I need some red 12" x 12" card stock, does anyone know where I can get it? I found one source, but the colour red isn't quite right.

Here is a crappy pic of the scrapbook page I just finished of my best friend. It has little yellow flowers and pink stars and swirlies on it. I was kind of excited about it because I was recycling some old cards and stuff for the little flowers and swirls.

i hardly ever post here and if this is somewhere in the memories please direct me there (i have looked honest but couldnt find anything)

i have a ring my cousin bought me at a very upscale boutique in toronto. I laughed when i realized it was essentially a marble magnet but with a metal extendable ring attached to it instead of a magnet.

now today i was stocking up on bags of clear marbles (they're on sale for $1.50) and sculptey at micheals and i decided hey i should get some ring things. but they didnt have any.
apparently they've never carried them either which makes no sense.

now does anyone on here have *any* idea as to where i could find them? everyone at my school loves my ring and i see it as a viable way to make crazed amounts of money on them, plus i want to make cute logo rings for myself with useless phrases on them.

thanks for any help in advance

sorry if this has already been asked or posted. if it has, let me know, and forgive me!
anyways...you know those little listerine flash strip thingies?
yeah the little package is pretty small. i have one of those by eclipse, and it seems about big enough to hold something...atleast something real small.
is there really anything fun that you can think of to do with it or should i just pitch it?
:)
