I know this has been previously asked probably a dozen times. I made my boyfriend some t-shirts for V-Day using transfer paper. I followed the instructions perfectly but it seems the edges are still lifting a little. I also washed a shirt, testing it, in hot water and the transfer peeled off.

Any tips or websites on making long lasting t-shits rather then temporary??

well, by thursday evening i was way too lazy to get creative so friday morning before work i went to Target and picked up some last minute things..cookies and red lingerie..then i stopped at hte grocery store and found a bag of rose petals...then after work i stopped back at hte grocery store and picked up 2 bottles of wine..then i went by our apartment and ran a hot bath and lit candles and put some rose petals around the tub and in the water and laid the cookies out on the counter and put on a soft jazz Cd.while at work i made her a hamdmade valentine and gave that to her when i picked her up from work..she figured that was all she was getting until we got home and she almost cried when she went to the bedroom and i made a heart out of rose petals on the bed with the lingerie laid out in the middle and i hade candles in the bedroom and the bottles of wine on the nightstand and the bath and cookies and everything--she was happy.

My boyfriend's mother has been saving all of her old pill bottles for me over the past month or so. While I was listening to Bright Eyes "Lifted: The Story is in the Soil" I realized what I could do with them.

I took Bright Eyes lyrics, typed them up, and stuffed them inside the bottles. I peeled off the labels, and made new ones saying "This bottle is for you...YES, YOU! OPEN ME!"

I took all my extra lyrics (because I didn't have enough bottles), and put them face down inside copy machines, for people to find. I wrote "READ ME" on the backs of them.

I placed the bottles all over the student union, on benches and couches. I put them in the library, the speech arts building, the art building, and the music building.

I wonder if people will care, and how many of these will end up in the trash.

3. double sided tape

journal
-sorry about the picture, blame it on the webcam

I love that double sided tape stuff, it's the thinnest layer of glue that doesn't clump. My first post here and I've thoroughly enjoyed everyone's crafts in this community these past 2 months. They're wonderful. The journal will now store inspiration and instructions on projects I want to pursue. fun fun fun =P

I have never posted anything I have made, although I have asked a lot of questions! Thanks for being such a creative, inspirational group!

I made these ) for my girlfriends. I used a 99cent glazed plantpot from Ikea on which I painted acrylic hearts and xoxo's, then I filled the pot with chocolates and a wooden doweled mesh heart also from Ikea, also for 99cents I believe. These were finds that [livejournal.com profile] zeisgeist and I scored in anticipation for V Day. I think they turned out cute!

I made these ) based on a question someone posted on what to do with Jones soda bottle pics and bottlecaps. I suggested she make fortune boxes with the labels decoupaged on the tops and the fortune cap on the underside. I liked my idea, so I tried it out. I used red and pink tissue paper to emulate rose petals by decoupaging it all over the box and tearing it off in some areas when it was dry. It is hard to see, but it actually created a handmade paper effect so it looked like the box was made out of textured paper. I filled the boxes with cinnamon red hot hearts and jelly bellies in pink white and red. They were 3-D valentines! They got rave reviews.

Thanks for letting me share!

Hey there guys!

I'm an RA (Residential Assistant) at my college, and every month I have to do a new bulletin board. Since March is National Craft Month, I want to highlight some simple but slightly more unique crafts (ie, no knitting or things like that -- most of my residents already know how to do those things). Do you guys have any good ideas?

Thanks!

I've been lurking here for about two months, and I've been highly impressed with all the projects, crafts, and information I've come across because of this community! I'm not at all sure why I've chosen tonight to post, but I'm feeling extra crafty, so that might have a bit to do with it. Actually, this community was probably the biggest catalyst in my becoming crafty again after a very long creative lull. I could not thank you all enough!

Anyway, on with the pictures of things I did today. )

Hihi. I'm not sure if I've ever posted before. I know this is the first time I've posted something I made. I have a couple more things coming soon, if I can force myself to develop a roll of film with the pictures.

I find it impossible to sit somewhere without doing something, so last night when I got antsy, I remembered something my mom and I made when I was homeschooled in 5th grade (about 15 years ago!). All you need is an ice cream bucket (like the ones at ice cream parlors) or a similar round garbage can, two magazines, a drinking straw or pencil and some glue.

Lookie... )

So...

I got my free issue of ReadyMade Saturday, and decided to make the hat that they have a pattern for. Mine is not quite the same (I think they threw theirs in the washer again after it was sewn), but it fits pretty well right now, so I don't think I'm going to throw it back in. I still have plenty of the sweater left, though, so I'm going to make another one. I think I'm going to leave the knot off of the top this next time.

Things I learned:
I need to learn to applique better.
Using paper to make a design doesn't work if you can't get the paper off once you've sewn it on. (I tried to make a star in red thread on the front, but ended up cutting the thread, which caused it to unravel, when I tried to get the paper out.
Felting is way freaking messier than I'd expected it to be. I thought the sweater had completely disintegrated in my washer. Next time, stick the sweater in a pillowcase and tie it shut.
