There are a lot of incredibly fabulous women in this community... And for the gentlemen who belong, tell the women in your lives how much they mean to you! That goes for you grrls, too.
i've really gotten into decorating tins lately, but they have a havit of rusting once either paint or mod podge hits them. i was thinking maybe something like a primer would help, but i don't want anything a) too expensive or b) too fumy. i do most of my crafting projects in my bedroom and well, march in jersey is not a nice time to be opening the windows for ventilation. any suggestions on a primer that is either clear or flat white that may help my predicament? mucho thanks!

Hey, I'm Marissa. I'm a long-time lurker, first time poster. I'm usually pretty good with craft ideas, but this time I'm at a complete loss. I looked through the memories and didn't find what I was looking for, so I'm going to ask you guys.
I have a pair of red high-top Chucks and I'd like to decorate them. I'm thinking of putting some glitter on the red canvas parts and maybe doing a little mini-collage on the white toe portion. Is this possible without getting really messed up? (I collaged a bit on a pair of black Chucks, and the clear tape that covered it kept peeling off and ruining the picture. It was a major hassle, and I'd like to avoid that if possible.) And, if my project is possible and I go through with it, what materials should I use to make it stick and stay?
Thanks in advance!
xoxo Marissa

So, I purchased a set of Crystalites crochet hooks. They are plastic with pretty sparkly colors, and I've heard they're nice because they don't keep cold like metal crochet hooks do. I bought them two days ago, I'm happily working away on my blanket, and one of them just SNAPS in 1/2!!! I was exerting no unusual pressure on it, it literally snapped apart in my hand. Needless to say I'm pretty upset, as I paid $8.50 for a pack of 5 various sizes. (And the one that broke is 5.5, the one I most use)
Now, the thing is, I bought these from a very small little independent store.. And the ladies there weren't particularly nice to me. I'm worried if I bring them back they'll just say I shouldn't have bought plastic hooks.. So, what do you all think? Should I try it, or just contact the manufacturer instead? Thanks!
It's a very long ovalish shape (almost a long rectangle, but curved ends), with kind of rough edges, and I'd like to frame it somehow (that's cheap and easy!) Ideas?
i find they are oh-so-handy for numerous projects. i normally use the kind meant for braces. my stash has finally run out, and my braces were removed 10 years ago.
anyone know where to buy such a thing? or any of you metal-mouthed crafty grrls want to send me a few??
We've decided to give out wine glasses for wedding favours - I have a rubber stamp that I am either going to emboss on the glass or we might use the image to etch it onto the glass (the image is a celtic tree of life). Has anyone here embossed on glass? I'm afraid it will scratch off or the inks won't be satisfactory for a glass that can actually be used for drinking. It would be cheaper to emboss, but etching would present fewer problems...
so today was my grandparents 60th anniversary party, and i took a roll of film to develop monday, and i think i have a shot of them kissing after they reaffirmed their vows.. so i have plans to get an 8x10 of that, put it in a black frame, and then i stole a couple red and white rose petals that were laying about, which i want to dry and attach to the frame. so, my question is.. what would be the best way to attach them to the frame?

oh, and another thing! i have bunches of old jeans that aren't good enough for anyone to wear, and i wanted to recycle the denim into a rug/mat kind of thing, and i know theres a way of ripping it into strips and then weaving or tying them together.. (and i'm fairly certain that i've confused at least myself.) so.. does anyone have a link or whatnot for me to follow?
