this is yet another shirt problem... ive got this black tee...and i really want to either paint something on it, or totally rip it up then sew it back together...i dont really know what to do. its just a plain black tee...what should i do? Im thinking about writing something anti-war, feminist, pro-choice on it. Or maybe just something cute....I dont know. I kind of want it to be cute like a little cupcake. :)
any suggestions?

I was at my grandmother's over the weekend. She's beyond herself with happiness that I've taken up crafty things like knitting and cross stitch etc. She can't do any crafting any more, unfortunately because she's 85 and her eyes are bad but every time I visit her she shows me things that she's made.
So this time she was showing me pattern books (in Romanian and German) for doing stuff like trims on sweaters or cross stitch stuff to make pillows and such. I think the patterns are really guides to embellishing the collars and cuffs of traditional costumes, but they're just patterns on a grid so they can be used for anything. She let me borrow one of the books, I'm going to try and make a cross stitch pillow with some of the patterns. It's pretty ambitious of me since I've never done a cross stitch that didn't have the design printed on the fabric already.
Anyway I thought I'd share some pics of patterns in case anyone out there was interested.
here ya go )

hey guys, quick questions! i want to make captions/sayings on my shirts,
but I'm quite inexperienced. Do you have suggestions on what
material to use? cloth/paint/etc? I need as many ideas because
i am so clueless ^_^. I know what I want to put on them, i just
don't know what to use!

Also, does anyone know of a paint that will sort of puff up
when you paint it on a shirt?

THanks!!! xoxo

Hey I want to seperate my room with screens (like the paper or wooden screens you can buy) but I don't want to pay the large prices. Is there something I could make on my own or does anyone know a cheaper place?
Thanks.

this one is compliments of my wonderful memaw :) ENJOY!

This is hilarious, but read the text first before looking at the picture.
For the truly crafty person in all of us.....
How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads:

You need four maxis to make a pair. Two of them get laid out flat, for the
foot part. The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top.

Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part.

Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers, etc.

Pad About Slippers

* Soft and Hygienic
* Non-slip grip strips on the soles
* Built in deodorant feature
* Keeps feet smelling fresh
* No more bending over to mop up spills
* Disposable and biodegradable.
* Environmentally safe
* Three convenient sizes: Regular, Light day and Get out the Sand Bags

i made that cute pink hat out of colinette point 5 yarn, which we know is 100% wool. as i wore it, the fibers loosened and it became too big for my head.

so, i boiled it to shrink it, and it got bigger. this, scientifically, does not make sense.

can someone explain why this happened? and, can someone tell me how to shrink my hat? this yarn was too expensive to be wasted on a hat that i can't wear...

I'm pretty sure it was [livejournal.com profile] reebert But she posted some really beautiful necklaces with what looked like those marble magnets (= only without the magnet) it looked like she used it as one of the beads...but I was wondering how she got it on the string?... what kind of thing did she put on the back to make it able to string onto the cord?... and what kind of string would I use to make something like that ?
thank you!

Allo!
After a few months and some long train journeys I finished knitting my first jumper, it's so gorgeously soft and warm (such a pity the temperature's rising now). I like my jumpers to be short in the body and long in the sleeve so I adapted the patterns lengths slightly. Knitting's not all that hard, everyone should have a go, I'm starting my next jumper now :D
