I have a candle holder that I believe is made out of some form of ceramic pottery material. It's the sort that feels a bit rough on the outside, yet is smooth. As a candle holder it is obviously made to take heat.

The problem is that during transit on a plane it was shattered. It upset me a lot, but I believe I can put most of it back together again, even if I can never burn a candle in it.

I was considering what bonding agents would be best. I have crafter's Goop... but it is so messy. The nozzle for the tube doesn't work worth a darned. Gets clogged. And otherwise it comes out in big globs.

Then there is always super glue. Or should I go to Hobby Lobby and buy something specifically for ceramics?

I've seen some sandpaper listed as "wet/dry" and I've seen people sand wet items on various DIY/home improvement shows.

My question is - what's the difference? Why would I want to sand something wet instead of dry?

And here's a tip I've learned. ;) You should always sand down metal before you paint it, no matter what you're painting it with. The shinier it is, the more likely you'll need to sand it. But no matter what, the paint sticks better (and sometimes the paint won't stick at all, darn it) if you give it at least a light sanding.

And nail files/emery boards make great sandpaper. ;)

So...wet sanding? What are the benefits?

I've been thinking I'd like to try experiment with silk screen prints. I did silk screening once in High Scholl (loonnggg ago), but I have no idea how I'd do it at home and what exactly I need to get started.

Can someone recommend books and other info on the subject?

Thanks

I have a mirror with a plain brown wooden frame (dark stain.) I want to spruce it up and I thought about painting and decoupaging it, does anyone have ideas that might be perhaps more creative? If I decopauge it I will either buy whimsical stickers or magazines with pictures to the same degree.
If I *do* end up decopauging and painting it, would it be okay to paint straight on the wood or should I do something to it first?
