but does anyone know of a GOOD brand for iron on transfers? preferably ones that can be put on colored shirts..

i want one that won't crack after one wash or fade after a few.

they have to exist.. anyone have suggestions?

ps- please don't tell me to get it done online, i'd rather do it myself.

I want to make some custom bookcases for my foyer, since I'm running out of bookshelf room and I hate the pre-fab look of the particle board shelving sold at most office-supply stores and Target, plus I figured that I could definitely make shelves like that for a lot cheaper. I like the sturdiness of real wood, but also want to make more "mod" style shelves, like the stackable H-shelf or cubes. I checked on DIYNet and found a "built-in" bookshelf project, but I live in an apartment, so I don't want to actually mount the shelving to the wall, though, for sturdiness sake, I might do so since I have a baby who will eventually be toddling around them.

Has anyone here made bookshelves (whether mod-style or normal) before? What did you do?

I want to make some skirts and pants that feel awesome, hang well, and don't shrink (even nicer if I don't have to iron - but will if need be) . Does anyone have any advice on material - or even patterns? I have some patterns in mind, but I want yay fabric. Please let me know what you think.

Hi! I have a question of course! It's about Envirotex! I cannot seem to find any sort of mold release for Envirotex, but I can find mold release for Castin' Craft. Do you think that the Castin' Craft Mold Release would work for Envirotex? Here is the website for both products.

i bought all the stuff i need for mirror and glass etching, i have armour etch for the etching. my question is, will the armour etch harm the stencils that i plan to use or would it be better to use contact paper as a stencil?

I apologize if this is off topic, but I need some advice.
My roommate fell and ripped her favorite pants. They're kinda stretchy, gym pants (referred to as the comfy pants). She asked me to fix them, but what method would be least noticable, short of replacing the entire panel? The pants have two dime sized, round holes, and the entire effected area is about the size of a dollar bill folded in half. Should patch over, under, sew up the holes or a combination of two?

I think this is the kind of community where people might be interested in helping me out..

I am studying to become a dressmaker and I have to do a graduating project about clothes. My subject is the codes and customs we have about clothes. I am interested in people who do against traditions and expectations and who show their personality in their own style. But I am also interested in people who love fashion and who like to wear clothes that are popular. It is had to find material for this.

So please help!

Write me about your own beliefs and opinions when it comes to how you dress. Why do you pick the clothes you wear, what kind of clothes do you like? What things are important, do you care about being nature friendly or economical? Do you buy second hand clothes etc. And if you think anyone you know would be interested to answer to these questions, tell them to email me at rusakko(a)sunpoint.net. Thanks.

So no ones name will be shown in my project and this will only be read in my school by some teachers and students.

I would also love to get photos and drawings of you wearing your fav outfit!

I will show you the results when my project is done.

I made a batch of soap after all this weekend!

A small batch, and it's actually shampoo bars. I've been wanting to try it.
65g Castor Oil
162g Coconut Oil
550g Olive Oil
97g Tallow (I used lard)
15g beeswax
18g cucumber FO
117g lye
discounted water to about 300g I'd guess (328 suggested, and I kinda randomly poured a little out)

I used a small milk carton as a mold... I like the small square shape and thought that might work well. I plan to just "peel" it off and dispose of it. It's an experiment. The size batch was perfect for it, until I realized I had to insulate it. So... don't laugh anyone... I covered the top with a plastic baggie, wrapped the whole thing in towels and... put it in the microwave. That way it's cat-safe, and it should keep it warmer.

I haven't done cold process soap in a while.. my last few batches were hot process. Which, while you get instantly usable soap, is much more of a pain in the rear to make. I forgot how easy cold process was!

House smells yummy, and I'm sleepy. Most of the mess is picked up.

(Is it just me, or does anyone else who makes soap always want to try adding the water to the lye to see what the violent reaction is? I won't do it... but I wanna. :) )
