Several questions all in one:

1) I want to make a mock-Girl Scout uniform for... *cough* my own purposes. I need the pattern, though, because I'm going to make it in pink so that it reminds you of the GS uniform but isn't it exactly. I have a pattern number (Simplicity 9437), but I'm having trouble finding the pattern... I'm wondering if it's only sold in fall when Scouts starts up for the year.

ALSO

2) When I do lay hold of this pattern, I'll be using the brownie pattern, so it will most-certainly be at least 10 sizes too small. I'm only making the vest and possibly skirt here (because white blouses are easy to find, and if I decided on a jumper those are all kinds of easy to make, and, as we all know, ugly, plain jumper patterns are ABOUNDING)... sooooo... what would be the best way to broaden the dimensions on this vest? I've never up-sized a pattern to this extent... what's everyone's best advice???

*corrections?* There are apparently many, many GS patterns, these patterns may also be mascarading under Simplicity 7776 and 7777

I'm looking for instructions / tips / tricks for making Italian style Masks.

I'm particularly interested in making one like this cat mask.

Any links to instructions, or advice from anyone who's versed in mask making would be muchly appreciated!

There's this amazingly cool coat I saw that I want, it's tweed style material but flourescent red green and pink tartan (sounds abysmal but somehow *works*) and double breasted with these big chunky buttons, BUT it's about 3 sizes too big (it's HUGE) and really boxy, it makes eveyone look like a big rectangle like a toy robot. But I want iiiit... it's £25. Hmm. Should I get it and try and alter it to a smaller size and more flattering shape, or shall I give it up as a lost cause? I don't have that much experience making or altering clothes, but I do have a sewing machine at home, and my granny might help me if I asked her nicely. I guess I've got a while to decide, it's been in the shop for ages cause everyone loves it and wants it but finds it's too big and a weird shape so doesnt buy it. Your thoughts please?

hello!!

for my spanish class this semester i'm supposed to write a short story and put it into some sort of journal form. the story itself isn't very creative, but i wanted to present it in a creative way.

i love the aol tins, so i wanted to do something with that. i thought of simply tying the pages together, and putting the book into the tin as a sort of case. i also thought of maybe making the book "accordian" style by making one long piece of paper, folding it up and then pasting each end onto the insides of the tin. that way when it's opened it's like an accordian. make sense? but i think that would be difficult to read.

i looked up in the memory section and i didn't see anything about anyone turning an aol tin into somewhat of a book cover. any ideas?

I've been reading the LiveJournal communities for a while, and I want to thank you all for the inspiration you've all given me. I finally got around to signing the other day just so I can post here. I do loads of craft stuff, jewellery making, toys, sewing, fimo thingies, I can knit, but it's a bit slow for me, I also do cross stitch and crochet. Here's my most recent project, my "Fruit Salad" bag. I finished sewing in the lining last night. Only problem now is that now it's finished I have nothing to do at work tonight. fruit salad bag fruit salad bag

My local fabric store sells fabric that is essentially loosely knitted like a sweater would be, and beautiful. It's also cheaper than the yarn and time involved in knitting something myself. I want to make a loose, comfy sweater our of it, and I think I can draw up the pattern myself...but how would I go about hemming it? And is there a trick to sewing it? It's fairly loosely knit so I'm not sure how it'd work out...

(and yes, I did check the FAQ, and couldn't find anything that answers specifically what I want to know)

My mom's gone away to Montreal for 4 days with my sister and this gives me the perfect opportunity to do some crafty for her!
I was looking through random sculpey projects and came across this on google -- PDF file -- So I decided to make it 'cause it's just way too adorable!
Mine turned out like this : but that's just before it got baked in the oven.
I have it right now in clear nail polish and I'm waiting for it to dry. The top parts -- ears and bow -- got burnt really quickly ...only after 10 minutes. I took it out real quick 'cause I had nothing to cover it and plus I don't really need it to be all too sturdy. So yea...lol hope you liked it ...=/

Happy crafting! =)
