hey all you craft-tastic boys and girls. id love some opinions here. i made this wrist clutch as a special order for a friend of mine [ it's not quite finished, it still needs 2 buttons as a closure]]. it's about 7" x 13". i enjoy it, she enjoys it, the question is would others enjoy it?

the reason i ask is because im in the process of re-designing and updating my website and if there is interest i would add it to my product line. thanks in advance.

Swim Suits

(Sorry for X-post to: sewing)

I was just looking at a website that had this REALLY cute swim suit that I absolutely loved, BUT...it was $69.00. I dont know about the rest of you, but I usually dont spend more, if even $30 on a swim suit.
*ANYWAYS!*

I was just wondering where I could get patterns for swim suits, what type of fabrics I would need and where to get them. Stores that specialized in fabrics and things like that would probably sell the right kind of material, correct? I usually get my fabrics from WalMart lol, I just started sewing what can I say. Please help =\

P.S. I also looked in the Craftgrrl FAQ about this topic as well so =p

I just spent an hour making a perfect template of the trademark Louis Vuitton pattern, because I am too poor to even afford a knock off handbag. I plan on spray painting the pattern in candy colors on everything I own. Cool? Cool.

It's not the greatest looking template, but it's the best I could do at 2:30 AM with ms paint.

Enlarge or reduce as you please on your computer, print out on heavy paper and take your exacto to it. I'm sure you can figure what you need to cut out. Tape the dots in the middle where needed and spray away. I haven't done anything yet because my eyes are about to fall out of my face.

(fyi- totally inspired by [livejournal.com profile] creepcake. She is crafty and wonderful in all the right ways.)

i am totally new and not very familiar with arts and crafts, but i just recently got into making my own books. for my friends birthday i was going to make her a journal to write in...i would like to paint the cardboard for the cover black..and then put a simplified version of this picture http://www.boomspeed.com/subtitles/iloveyou.bmp in white on the cover (i hope that makes sense) using some form of screen printing or block printing...but my problem is i am not familiar with it at all..and i was hoping there is an easier way to do all of this than buying tons of materials at an art store...i really would like to use spray paint and just make a stencil..but i think its too detailed of a picture to do so. anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..and once i find what i need, the moderator is more than welcome to delete this. thank you in advance.

grr! ok, for the longest time i've been meaning to paint some junk on a shirt.

i was trying to make a stencil from an old plastic folder [basicaly the same material used for real stencils], but the exacto knife hates me or something. didn't help much on cardboard either

soooo i moved on to make a screenprinting dealy. i was going to use an old pantyhose thing because i guess it's the smallest holed thing i have. it still left stupid little crisscrosses from the weaving.

i am really ticked because i keep messing up [plus i have no patience and it's been hotter than a mofo]. and yayaya i've checked out all the old entries about it

any suggestions? i can't really paint this by hand..

Hey everyone! I've been having fun for the past 2 days. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dotcombabe I've been inspired to get back into painting. I've been having a blast! If ya want, here are some pics of my paintings I've done these past 2 days ;) I hope paintings are considered crafty! ;)

Hey gals. My brother's birthday is coming up and I'm pretty sure I have an idea of what I'd like to make him. He's into nature and pretty much just natural-like products so making an au natural cologne for him would hit the spot. Are there any good "recipes" that I could follow with an earthy scent that a guy wouldn't mind wearing?
[identity profile] alyska.livejournal.com
i seemed to get a good response last time i posted, and have finally had the chance to scan the rest of the jewelry i've got made. i put up a preliminary page for them, if you're interested in seeing more of what i've been working on. i also refer potential buyers to the same page, so ignore the pricing info if you like.

always looking to do something different, i crochet with wire. i haven't been able to find may sites online about it, but i enjoy it, and i like the controlled chaos of the resulting jewelty.

besides showing the pieces i've finished recently, i'd love to hear comments and suggestions on:

* existing pieces. what do you like, what don't you like?
* design ideas. what else can i do that would be intersting?
* the site design/layout. i put it together in abotu 20 minutes. what's good/bad?
* a place that i can buy sterling silver wire (26ga and 28ga) that doesn't cost asmall fortune.

I made my first set of sculpty beads tonight. I got the rolling part and the cutting part and the making holes part. Now I bought a toaster over purposely to cook them in. I followed all the directions...and cooked them for 15 minutes like it said to.
All my beads burnt. Maybe I should have kept a better eye on them, but I went and ate dinner while they cooked on the porch. I went out and saw that they were burning, so I turned the toaster over off and pulled them out. They were not even done cooking all the way. They were still soft in certain points. So I let them sit for oh another hour or so in the toaster oven.
When I went to clean up and put the toaster oven away, they were still burnt but they had hardened.
My question is, did I do anything wrong? Like how can I make it so they don't burn?
And also, if I cook them at oh say 250 degrees (instead of 275) will they still harden?
And what if I stop them at 10 minutes or something. Will letting them sit in the toaster over harden them?

Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

This was my first time ever making them beads. I was sad at the way they turned out. *sad panda*

Me again

Heh heh...back again so soon?

Anyways, I used a wooden rolling pin and a plastic cutting board for my tools. I did not want to be working directly on the table.
But the Sculpty kept sticking to the rolling pin when I tried to get it flat.
What do you all use to roll it out?
And is it heat related? Like the warmer it is, the softer the Sculpty is? Because I was using red, white and black and the white was way softer than the other 2 colors.

I have FIMO as well.
Is there either that is better then the other? Like is Sculpty better than FIMO or vice versa?

A little faery I made. She's a luck faery. The bell is to ward off evil spirits, and the sword is sort of to represent that sometimes you have to make your own luck.
Sorry about the picture quality in some of them I'm still getting the hang of this digital camera.

Lj-cut because some of the pics are big )

I bought a new bikini ready for surfing this weekend!
unfortunately the bottoms were too skimpy for my modest self and they're the string tie type that i don't feel comfortable with
so i'm keeping the top as that's fine and i've got a pair of hot pink hotpants that i can wear with them, but lo and behold i have a bikini bottom with a gorgeous summery pattern!
any ideas as to what i can do with the fabric as it's so adorable! it's a shiny pvc fabric on the front with a soft fabric on the other side.. )
