Just wanted to make a little post to say thanks to everyone that said they would be interested in helping with the craft trade community. I'll e-mail everyone tomorrow and hopefully get the ball rolling a.s.a.p!

Happy crafting ladies! :)

I just overhauled my website something major. It's still rather skeletal, but I would really appreciate opinions.

I even posted a tutorial on making fairy lights with neat flowers on them, and what they look like on my wall. :o) More tutorials are up and coming, as soon as I get some time - and possibly suggestions/requests from the lot of you!

Here goes nothing:

I guess I should announce that this isn't any physical crafty-ness. But I whipped up a webpage (out of boredom, nonetheless) in about a day and a half. It'a crafty, dammit.

Anyway, go to it, dollface.
(The guestbook is a virgin, go do a little sumpin' sumpin' to it.)

Does anyone have any idea where I could find either Super Dollfie 13 sized patterns or even just doll clothes patterns that would fit a standard SD13? They are much bigger than most dolls. I'm really interested in sewing dollfie clothes. I was thinking maybe I could take some of my existing Gothic & Lolita clothing patterns to a photocopy place and have them scaled down to proper size. Any suggestions?
Oh, here is the official Dollfie site if anyone has no idea what i'm babbling about. [volks japan]

<----- see the skulls in my icon? ----->

i have a lunch box full of them. i made them out of sculpey clay and painted them with acrylics. any crafty people out there want to give me a hint on what to do with them?

i had some ideas for books and boxes, but i'm trying to think of a not-so-cheesy way of doing it. i have one idea, but it'll take a lot of time.

I tried to load the picture, but apparently I'm doing something wrong or open shoebox just won't let me remote load!

Hello folks,

My bike is spraypainted black with pink stars.... The problem is the spraypaint gets chipped off now and then.

Anyone know of anything good to put over it so it won't chip or scratch off so easily???
[identity profile] ricekrysbee.livejournal.com
Yeah so, I'm new. Just thought I'd formally introduce myself. My name is Krys, and I've always fancied myself as being a glam rock Martha Stewart. I love making things that are a bit different. But yeah. Just thought I'd say hi!

Got cans?

I am just curious...

what is everyone working on craft-wise? and what do you have planned to start in the next little while?

me, i'm knitting a bikini (still) and i am planning on starting a kitty cat toque, perhaps a jacket for the winter (both in knitting).

sooooo.. start talking!

[identity profile] fadedjade.livejournal.com
okay somehow the first post magically disappeared if i somehow offended someone and they deleted it, i apologize.
um yeah this got a way better response than i thought so i'm making a last call for this as of midnight tonight, so when i check in the a.m. i can email everyone with details. cause the circle is getting big and i don't think anyone wants to wait a year to get their book back. i know i'd be the first medically documented case of death from anticipation.
so if you'd like to be a part of this leave your email address, please.
um...thanks

I took two works of cross-stitch in to be framed. One's about 8x10" and the other's about 9x9". I'm getting one color of mat and one's in a thin, black wooden frame, and the other's in a slightly thicker brown frame with swirly colored paint on it. Of course, they'll both be under glass. BUT...

My total price for both of them was over $250!!!

Is this right?! Have I been had??? HELP!!!

I searched the mall...the web...and have not found any. Last year they were hot, now they are not. Can anyone help me find (black or neon colors) one shoulder tank tops that are not pricey and will fit a juniors size small? I found some on american Appareal but there stuff runs large...

I suppose I could make my own by cutting open a tank. However my sewing skills are not great and I don't have a machine. I am already crafting my plans on a premade one shoulder tank...
[identity profile] crazyfurries.livejournal.com
ok.. my first time actually showing you guys what I work on..

no biting me. got it?

The butt of my patchy pants. not surprising it needs the most patching and sewing...

A spiffy pair of citrus-y patches that I'm proud of doing since they're so small.

A Sharpie-made patch that will be put onto the left knee of the pants.

I'd have a picture of the right leg of the pants and the painting of a dragon I put on it but the darn icture wouldn't take..

I bought a stuffed fish at the dollar store for $1 (...no way, something cost a buck at the dollar store, wow) and cut the poor guy up and pulled out some of his stuffing...and voila, fish-shaped change purse. I had trouble sewing the strap in and not making it look awful but hey, it worked out in the end.

Oh yeah, and I had to sew the buttonhole by hand and damn that sucked. ;_;

here are two more shirts i made using duct tape and spray paint...

the elliott smith one is difficult to see, the contrast on the shirt itself isn't great to begin with. but i like it that way. i used red spray paint and then i sprayed bleach on it, and it helped give it a slight rust look. it made the design more obvious. black is difficult sometimes to spray paint.

elliott and peaches

on the moldy peaches shirt i used turquoise and hot pink spray paint.

so I just thought of this cute idea and i was wondering if anyone thought it might work:

I'm thinking of filling a cupcake paper with wax and sticking a birthday candle in it for a wick. has anyone ever attempted something like that? would it turn out well? because, yeah, i've never made candles and i just thought something like that would be cute to mail to my internet pals since i can't make them real cupcakes.

thanks grrls, you rock the casbah!

Skirts!!!!

Jul. 25th, 2003 11:06 pm
[identity profile] roxxane.livejournal.com
Hi, I'm new to this community. I just recently joined and have been reading through all the entries and have been INSPIRED.

I want to make a skirt but have no idea how to go about it. I've heard of A-line skirts and pencil skirts. Can anyone tell me what they are? What's the difference? Which one is easier to make? How do I make them? I've never really sewn anything before so this would be my first big project. Everyone makes it sound so easy, so any words of advice would be very much appreciated.

Thank you all in advance!

Oh, and I bought some purple plaid type of fabric, if that's of any concern.

(Sorry about crossposting it.)

has anyone ever made a hollow book before?
it seems like something that everyone should have.
but, i can't seem to find instructions anywhere.

i can figure most of it out... but what type of glue would you use? is it really necessary to glue all of the pages together, or could you attach them some other way?
