I've responded to posts here before but this is my first time starting a thread.

I was inspired by [livejournal.com profile] wyldviolet when she used beads to decorate an Orangina bottle to be used as a bud vase. So I got out my seed beads and glue and made my own. I'm still not sure how to post pics within this message so for now you can see the pics on my ([livejournal.com profile] chele75) journal.

I have this shirt..

and i wanna re-construct it. I dunno what to do to it though. It's a kids large, but I'm now a juniors large-xl. It's really short, and its really tight on my big boobs. I wanna make it longer and like bigger for my boobs if possible. Any ideas?

Is there anyway you can make it so you can decoupage pictures that you print out? I know they will smear if they get wet but I was wondering if there was something you could do to them to make them not smear.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

This is kind of a craft question.

I have a really old Caboodle (it's like a tackle box for makeup) and I wanted to use it to organize craft tools and materials.

Problem: Years ago perfume spilled inside. The inside reeks of cheap drugstore perfume and I just about die gagging every time I open it. Is there any way to get the stink out!?

Thanks in advance!

a while back i remember people posting ideas for spicing up a plain bookcase, but i can't seem to find them in the FAQ. i was thinking of stenciling or painting something on an old bookcase of mine but i've run out of ideas for what exactly i should paint on it. at first i was considering some chinese characters (cause we all know how cool those look), but then decided that those were too over-done. does anyone have any other ideas for me? or perhaps a link to a site that could help?

thanks in advance!

The other day I bought a bottle of Orangina, and the bottle was so neat I didn't want to throw it away, so I decided to make a bud vase out of it. I glued some pinkish-purplish beads around the top and laid some blue ones in the bottom. It turned out pretty neat.

Here is a pic of it, the pic's not that great, but you can get the idea of what it looks like...

I want to make a necklace like this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2650087238&category=10993

does anyone know how to/have the directions to something like this?

Also..I don't think I am suppose to know this, but I took the mail out to be mailed, so of course I know...but my mom mailed in a check for my subscriptions to Beadwork magazine...!!!! yah

Oh yeah..I bought colored paper the other day. It is not cardstock, but it is not as thin as computer paper...and I am going to make envelopes out of them and include color co-ordinated paper inside. Like the envelope is neon orange and the papers inside are yellow and pink....kick butt

This is an off topic question, but I figured if anyone would know, you guys would!!

I bought a whole bunch of jelly bracelets the other day and they smell AWFUL!! They have that really strong toxic-like rubber smell so bad that I can't even wear them. I was wondering if you all knew of anything that I could do to take the smell away? I've tried soaking them in really soapy water, but that didn't work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated and if this post isn't allowed feel free to delete! :-)

so i had posted earlier about a gift for my roommate. i bought a $1 large shaker box at ac moore and painted the bottom pink and the top white. then i painted a pink cross a la the red cross. then i wrote "dorm room survival kit" across the top.

inside i enclosed this note with all the below meantioned stuff. it was all dollar store and walmart stuff. less than $10. and it's useful..and funny.. (she doesn't drink anymore, doesn't party anymore, and has a boyfriend)

**
DORM ROOM SURVIVAL KIT
1. CUP - used for chasing alcohol with a better tasting beverge
2. LAUNDRY SUPPLIES - used for washing the vomit stains off of your clothes after a night of parties
3. SOAP - used for when your parents come to visit and you need to not smell like beer and weed -and the one soap is fun to play with when totally stoned
4. POST-ITS - used when trying to remind self to go to class. You’d have to wake up first to read them though.
5. TOOTHBRUSH - used to brush away the taste of boys and beer
6. NAILPOLISH - used to look good for Thirsty Thursday
7. TISSUES - used to take care of that cold you’ll be getting from walking to parties barely dressed
8. EXCEDRIN - hangovers. Enough said.
9. PLAYING CARDS -used for drinking games
...or not. Have a good sophomore year!

I like being original and I thought this community could have an answer for my question.

I want to make little things that I could put on my jeans for school. like instead of buying actual patches. any ideas that won't get ruined in the wash?

thanks in advance!

Hello crafty ladies and gents!

The name is Susan, and I love to quilt, sew, bead, work with hemp, clay, etc. Overall, I love to make stuff!

I went out and bought a whole bunch of stuff for Pocket Shrines and for altered books, and whatnot, and I am really going to need some help!

Everything you folks do is positively nifty and I would love to try most of it!

Any ideas for some basic projects to introduce myself to newer stuff?

Btw, add me and I will do the same!

We had to put AOL disks in the newspapers one day (my mom and I deliver newspapers), and we had a bunch left over and I've been trying to think of something to do with them. Then I remembered something that someone had posted here. So I took one of them and made this )

Allo everyone. I just joined, and this is my first post. I'm terrible at thinking up gifts for people, especially those I know best. My mother is the hardest to shop for, so I figure I should start making her presents, instead. Only I don't know what to make for her. She loves gardening and tennis, and our dog is like her third child, so any present for him is like a present for her. I guess any useful household item would be appropriate too. Any ideas on something cute I could make for her? Keep in mind that I'm not very crafty just yet, I just started, but I've got free time and I'm willing to try most things that don't require tons of sewing. Thanks in advance--

-Lou

Hi

At Michaels, you can buy some mirrors, so I thought of making my own mirror with all these small mirrors. So, what should I glue the mirrors too? I was planning on tacking the whole thing to the wall when I was finished.

So, what should I glue the mirrors too?

Thanks in advance!

I'm brain dead from my shopping and good deed of the day today, and can't seem to think of what the community is for when you do random acts of kindness and such for people... I feel like ranting to some people that understand waht its like to do something nice for a complete stranger about my experience today.... who knows what community i'm tallking about????

thought I would share 2 pages I have done in the past few days.

LIVE. This spread was completed by covering the pages in tin foil and cutting several holes in it which I then filled with gold paint. I printed the word LIVE and added a bit of gold paint to that as well. Then I created a niche to hold the lid to a tin. I then glued together several pages using first bookbinding glue and then plain white glue on top. The lid was placed in upside down. I created several magnetic poetry type magnets. The magnets are all moveable- like regular magnets. They read: passion, awaken, color, envision, nurture, beauty and imagine. The scan makes the magnets look a bit dark and dirty, but they aren't. The right "page" is about 1/2" thick.
image 1

NAKEN. The one line I left on the page reads, "She was naked"
in swedish.
the mesh is placed over a vintage nude photo
the envelope houses the definition of "naken"
image 2

... and while i am at it, a pic frame i made for my sister who is oh-so-far-away

the words, which i realize can't really be seen on the scan, are from a song she sang to me recently
and the pic was taken last time i saw her

I'm knitting a scarf and a matching hat for my boyfriend's birthday coming up. Does anyone know if there are any cute printable washing instruction cards anywhere online? Or even just cute printable handmade with care cards?

Or maybe just cute ideas you have done already or would like to do for this kind of thing?
I want to present them nicely:)

(oh and crafty update..i recently took an old ugly wooden jewelry box and decoupaged the whole thing in images cut out from some of my art magazines (they have the best pictures for decoupaging..ive been cutting out pics from them for years). i also changed the main handle to open the side with a dichroic glass bead i got on ebay awhile ago..and the drawers all have glass beads as handles now also.:) i wish i had a digital camera to show you guys it..first crafty thing ive done for ahwile besides knitting ive been proud of.
my sister also sent me soap making supplies so ill think ill be doing that next:) just need to find some cute molds.)

Ok so I bought some beads and I was going to make a necklace and somehow it turned into a rosary. I'm not a religious person at all but I've come to find that I like making them! Isn't that weird? Well anyway, here's a picture of my first one. i was considering making a couple to sell them cheap and give the money for charity. I make other things too, I'll post them up soon.

Sorry if this offends or bothers anyone! Not my intent at all...

i made a turtle stuffed animal before, the one with the lazy eye and one leg shorter than the other. well, i got bored, and so I decided to try making another one, but this time something easy that would waste 30 of my day. so i made a fish.

he kind of looks like one of those goldfish crackers.

my father gave me a rather large red sweater, so i have taking great pains to make it a normal size. now i dream of attaching an alligator to it, which i will cut out from felt. my problem is my alligators look rather awful. horrible, in fact. so i ask you, the kind and loving people of craftgrrl, if they have seen a nice alligator picture anywhere which i can use for my patch. i remember some nick jr cartoon about a girl who lived next to a zoo, and they had a really cute alligator on that. does ANYONE know the name of that cartoon? my cousins used to watch it when i had to babysit them, but i don't remember the name.
thanks and much love to the people who can help me in my 'gator quest.'
