Let's try that nerdy chess goodness again...
earrings
And again forgive my dodgy pics.

I posted a day or two ago saying how anything can be turned into funky earrings? Well, yeah. My earring luck has run out. I found these awesome dice today, on a keyring. They look like the used ones you get from casinos, with the hole drilled through them.

Phoooto )

I started making earrings with them, put them on a bit of wire, and had some back and white beads alternating above them, if you get what I mean. But they ended up being heaps heavier than I thought, they felt pretty light when I picked them up but they made my ears look all saggy and gross. So.. Now I need something else to do with them. I could make a keyring or something like that, but that's kinda boring. They won't work well on a bracelet or around my neck, though, because of the hole.. It doesn't go straight through the middle, it goes kinda diagonally, through two adjacent sides. So they wouldn't sit right.

The cuffs are the same story, bought for my ears but too heavy. I think they'll go nicely around my wrist, though.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated, and rewarded with snogs :D

Who? me
What? doesn't know how to attach belt to belt buckle
Where? In my house
When? Right about 3 seconds ago
How? um...i don't know...that's why the posting
Why? I wanted a funky ribbon belt that i bought awhile ago and just found out yesterday that they're fashionable *angry*

do i just cut a notch in the ribbon, and then loop it over the metal bit and secure? ALSO how do i reenforce the hole i cut so that it doesn't go all running and ugly?

I've been doing a lot of photography stuff lately, so I have something like 20-40 film containers laying around. I keep thinking I should do some kind of creative project with them, but I'm really not sure what. Any ideas? (These are the little plastic things film comes in, mostly translucent white containers with yellow and black caps, but I also have some black containers with grey lids and black containers with black lids.)

hi. im new to this community. my name is nicole. its been a long time since ive really felt any creative urges, probably even longer since ive actually acted on those urges and tried to make something. i like to make things for people i care about..namely little boxes out of clay. ive been seeing my boyfriend for 8 months now, and in that time, ive tried on several occasions to make him a box that was worthy of possessing. ive held off on giving him one because i wanted to it be perfect.

well, the other night i set to it again, and started creating. full of romantic inspiration, this is what i came up with:

haw anyone ever tried to decoupage on polymer clay? Does it work? Is there any kind of clear coat I can put on successfully?

I've been seeing some posts lately about band tees being turned into skirts. I don't know if anyone else has come up with this idea, so I'm just gonna throw it out. I was thinking, instead of cutting the sleeves off, turn the sleeves into pockets. like push the sleeve on the inside of the shirt and sew the cuff things together. i bet this makes NO sense lol. ooo I'm feeling inspired now ^_^

I'm looking for those Hello Kitty Hairclip things that they sold in McDOnalds Happy meals a little bit ago. They were just her face on them and her head was really huge and they just have like a clippy plastic piece on the back.
I would really like to buy one from somebody so if you have one or know where I can get one for cheap. Let me know!
Thanks!

Sorry for X-posting. The question about the T-shirt is more for T-Shirt Surgery.

Anyways, I have all this polka dot material, and I dont really know what to do with it. I dont know if its a good idea to add it onto shirts or what. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do with it?

And I have this T-shirt that I love. I only wore it a few times. I dont know if you can see or not, but down at the bottom where the little half circle is, Im pointing out a bleach spot and a hole that resulted from a previous bleach spot. Any ideas for how to reconstruct it so its still wear-able? I would hate to get rid of it!

Thanks for any help!

Okay, probably horribly off-topic, but since you guys make clothes, I thought that maybe you'd know. What on God's Earth is the purpose of that little extra line of fabric on panties for?
[identity profile] one-hit-wonder.livejournal.com
hey guys,

i'm considering buying the 'Singer 2517 Sewing Machine' for $100 at walmart. i need something simple and not with any elaborate features. just for reconstructing tees and finishing up knitting projects. anyone know about this machine? i know it's a good brand...

it can be seen here at epinions.com
[identity profile] one-hit-wonder.livejournal.com
well here is my second attempt at knitting. i borrowed the pattern from not martha. it's funny because it was her second knitted scarf as well. mine is just a tad-bit different and probably with more mistakes. instead of knitting 10 rows per color, i knit 12 and instead of casting on with 17 stitches, i wanted mine a bit thinner and longer so i casted on 13 stitches.

the yarn is soooo soft! can't wait 'till it's finished.

so far so good...

i just finished making some record bowls and spray-painting my light switch plate black (both great and easy projects, might i add) and have now decided to fancy up a plain beige canvas purse. what i want to do is use the same spray paint as i used for the switch plate to stencil an image onto the purse. i have never used or made stencils before and had a question about the material that is used to make them. is it absolutely necessary to buy that special plastic paper stuff or is there something else i can use that is cheaper? i have heard of people using poster board... does anybody know how well that works?

thank you all for the inspiration! :)

what could i do with brand new white shoe laces? I always buy cute ones to put in my shoes whenever I buy a new pair but I always save the white ones. They keep piling up.

Hey everyone, me again! Haha!

Well I have a few things I need help with.

1. I want to funk up my room, my vanity desk (make-up hair, things) and my computer desk most of all on a budget of £10. What can I do to it that will make it look better but not cluttered?

2. What should I stuff T-Shirt pillows with?

3. I am having a sleepover and I want to make gift bags for my friends, personalized ones. What CHEAP things can I include in them or make for them? (Small things, please! :D)

Baby sling

I made this sling for my daughter a few months ago and it got lost in the move. We're about to be flying to TX and I didn't feel like dealing with the stroller, so I looked and finally found the sling in a box. It was plain black, but I decided to add in a cute lining.

I searched all day for a desk through stores. I couldn't find one that I liked at all. I was wondering if anyone had a site or even advice about building my own desk. I have an idea already but I just wanted to read on it as well.

Any help would be grateful!

hello, i found a really cool site today and thought i would share it. if any of you out there are looking for images to use in your crafts, check out this site. if you register and make a donation (minimum donation is extremely small, but the collection is worth far far more) then the owner of the site will email you with download codes for all the images she currently has online. and i can attest that the images are great. her terms for use are very generous - you can use the images for personal or commercial use (for small companies). there are over 40 categories of images such as backgrounds, vintage postcards, victorian fashion, texture/pattern/paper tiles, picture frames, notecards, stained glass, anitque cards, nature, pets, people, fine art, etc. hope you find this useful.

I saw this on www.alleycatmetalware.com and I thought it was really cool. I don't wanna buy it though. And I could figure this out by myself, maybe I will if nobody replies.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to make that? And where to get the materials to make it?
[identity profile] jesamine.livejournal.com
this is sort of crafty, i suppose...

does anyone know where i can get a [free] recipe and instructions on making a cake in the shape of a willy? i have looked online, but i'm starting to get annoyed that i'm not finding anything, haha.

also, can you give me some links to cake making / recipe/ communities?

Have any of you ever customised your Converse?
I was bored bored bored with mine, and everyone else wearing them.

I cut the tongue out of an old red pair, and used red ribbon as laces (no pictures, I'm afraid).
What else can I do?

need help :
i know a ton of you guys have done the guitar pick necklace thing...
i'm really stupid [i guess heh] and have no idea how to get a hole through it.
heating a needle? as in just...lighting candle, putting a needle over it to heat it and then poke through the guitar pick while it's hot and keep repeating the step? =/

i have one of a band i would love to make a necklace out of...but maybe i should buy a cheap one and practice first? heh

also ...anyone have any idea what's a possible tool / way to drill a hole through a dice [just a regular / random game dice] to make a dice bead [since they're impossible to find]?

thanks.
