I got so bored, that I took one of my purple & black armwarmers that I bought in feb @ hot topic and I made it into a purse/drum stick bag. it's rad. I'm off to take pic's of it to post.
a little something )

also, i've noticed a lot of people trying to sell/trade stuff. i was gonna suggest that (as an idea) we/I could make a graphic that is semi big that says "NO TRADING OR SELLING" or something? I dunno, just an idea. catch my drift?

Bluu paint

HI!

LOL! My mom is painting shutters for our house, and she bought a really cool shade of blue that she thought would look great on the shutters, but it's too blue and not gray enough. SO. She gave it to me. It's a small can, not like the regular kind, but the smaller one, and it was about $8. My mom said that I could have it, but I don't know what to do with it. It's a really cool color. LOL. THanks!

This goes out to all craftgrrls, new and old.

It amazes me that there can be so many posts made by our lovely mod cautioning against selling items on [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl that go completely ignored. She even took the time to list other communities on which you ARE allowed to buy/sell/trade. (PS. read the community info, it contains so much EXCELLENT information, serioiusly).

Maybe all you sellers out there just don't see them. Which I find surprising. Just yesteday there was a post suggesting that Craftgrrl put up a banner of some sort on this issue. Personally, I don't think that'll work, because you probably won't see that either.

Maybe there's nothing we can do. Maybe you just don't care and are willing to ignore it and post anyway (rude and RUDE). But it's sucking the life out of me, so please resist the urge.

I HAVE THINGS TO SELL TOO!!!! But I post my things in the appropriate communities, you should consider doing the same.

Not to be without a more craftlike item in this post: I made this bag from a Simplicity pattern:

hey all. i am a massive collector of pins and patches fro mconcerts, shows, special events and so on. i would love to display them but if i tried to put them all on one jacket or something it would weight like fifty kajillion pounds and not be very comfy. does anyone have any suggestions?

p.s. i thought about curtains but since i am living on campus i will not be able to alter any of the fixtures/firnuture provided by the college.

I am trying to make my mom a candle for her birthday and I want to pour the wax into little terra cotta pots but, ack! There's a whole in the bottom of the pots that I forgot about. What should I put in there that will hold the wax in?

A few loosely connected things I wanted to say:

*The other day I went out with my mother to some craft stores by my college(Jo-Ann's, Michael's, AC Moore), and I found gorgeous new yarns! Lion Brand yarn has new colors in their Homespun line, including some lovely blends in pink, blue, and green. I picked up a few skeins of this one, but unfortunately that picture doesn't do it justice. It's a wonderfully loud pink that has red and orange strands worked into it!

*This yarn is going towards a pattern in the new fall Vogue Knitting magazine, which I strongly recommend for anyone looking for new patterns. The one I'm using is a hooded long sleeveless sweater with wooden toggles, and it's going to be awesome! Quick to knit too, I'm nearly done with the back.

*While I was working on it today I was watching Techlive on TechTV (secret guilty passion) and they had a short blurb on a girl who was making duct tape accessories to sell. Instantly I thought of you girls and boys. :)

*Also, and this is more for a personal curiosity question for all you out there: how many of you knit? And if you do, have you found that knitting has become popular in your area? I keep hearing that it's found a resurgence lately especially among celebrities (after all, Darryl Hannah is on that VK cover), but I find it difficult here in Connecticut to find many other people with knitting tastes; and there aren't many places or large knitting sections in craft stores usually. So I was wondering if it might be different in other locales?

Hope nobody minded my rambling, and have a nice Friday everyone...

I opened craftster.org up a week ago and it looks like it's catching on. Thought some of you here might be interested.

Undoubtedly, it will soon surpass friendster in popularity.

Hope to see some of you there...

I cant spend too much money so i decieded i'd put togethor an assortment of crafty things to give her. So far i've got magnetic love poetry, and maybe a decoupached love theme box to put the stuff in, and a mixed cd of love themes. I'm having crafter's block. I can sew and crotchet. Please help me with some ideas!

i have this old wicker chair from the 70's that my mom finally gave to me.. the original cushions are long gone and she replaced them with some really thin foam covered in some random fabric... basically, it's not too comfy... any ideas on what i can use to make cushions for this? i was going to use some sort of corduroy for the fabric, but i dont know what to use for the filling that would be thick enough.. any suggestions?
[identity profile] lalindsey.livejournal.com
Hey crafty people!

I Have a load of fabric that I need to find uses for and today I decided on making a purse and a tank top out of some. The tank top I would like to make is like This one here. Now should I get out a tank top that I have similar to that and measure it out and trace it (both sides of it) on cardboad than transfer that to the fabric and sew the two sides together?

Also, if I wanted to make the little slit in the neckline how would I do that? Would I just sew the sides of it down so it would not fray?

Are there any patterns online?

Thanks!

My roommate and I were wondering, is it possible to mod podge a picture or something onto a candle? I wonder if maybe you just wouldnt'be able to melt the candle all the way down.

I have completed my rolling kitchen island. I still need two crates for the shelf, for pots and pans, but that will have to wait.

I actually only paid for the grout, mortar, and tiles because the wood and molding was donated by family as left over scraps. So I don't think it's too bad for a $20 project. The tiles were $1.97 for each 12"x12" thingee, and I only needed five because the top isn't that big.

Hey....Sorry if this is a little off topic but my friend is starting an online DIY Distro (And I'm thinking of starting one too), So if theres anyone who has started one and would like to give her some advice on starting one leave your e-mail (if you have hotmail) and she wants to add you to msn. And if someone has a code for her that would be great! Thanks in advance!

I went to A.C. Moore the other day and bought a couple of shaker boxes that were on sale for $1 each. I took one of them and painted it pink, then I glued some lace around the edge of the lid. I printed out a picture of Hello Kitty's face cut it out and traced it on to a piece of white fun foam, then I cut out the other parts of her face from other pieces of fun foam and then glued it all together to make her face. Then I glued it on to the top of the box. I spelled out Hello Kitty in fun foam letter stickers and put fun foam flower stickers in the corners. I put one fun foam flower to each side of the box.

It turned out pretty neat I think... )
