okay, help.

boyfriend. back to school. his mother is making him go to a school he despises. he's a senior.

i want to do something for him, something every day for him, i don't know, anything that can cheer him up every day at school, though i'm not there.

?!? i'd appreciate any ideas. school supplies, something, i don't know, whatever. i'm lost.

Hey guys question here! I'm planning on investing in a sewing machine. It will be my first machine and I really want to get a really good one here. I'm willing to spend between $200-$300 and I'm just wondering what features I should look for and would need, what some good brands are, and some more tips if you have them. I'm planning on teaching myself how to sew because i already got knitting and all sorts of other fun craft stuff down pat. I also have a few things that I put together for my room and I just felt like sharing.

I spent the other night doing a few crafty artistic things, including crafting the first of a series of special dreamcatchers. I 'documented' my progress from start to finish, so to speak, with pictures. I must say that I am very pleased with the results. Mom just loves it to death. She can't stop saying how unique it looks.

Uniqueness was my intention.

Behold the uniqueness beyond )

Anyone heard of this before?

I saw it in a mag and apparently you cut out something from a mag or paper and colour it in with the texta and it prints onto fabric..

Anyone tried it and your opinions etc? I have no idea how it really works but am really interested. Thanks loads!

I decorated a box to hold my cds. Nothing too fancy, but I like it. I bought the unpainted box from walmart for about $5. I think it's made of balsa wood. Here you can see what they suggested you do with the box:

When I close my eyes, the noise inside intensifies )

I also made a splatter painting across three canvas panels to spiff up the walls of my dorm. I wanted to buy a print of Autumn Rhythm to frame and hang but it isn't available so I made my own ripoff Pollock )

I have some paint left over, but nothing left to paint. Got any ideas? Would it be really tacky if I painted posterboard, like oaktag?

My friend and I have created a new community, [livejournal.com profile] michdecorate . It's similar to [livejournal.com profile] saucydwellings, but it's michigan specific. If you live in MI and enjoy decorating and showing off your home, join (that way you can come on our field trips too ^^)!

thanks!

btw- i looked in the faq and did not see anything against posting this

this is not exactly 'crafty'- but there are some very smart and creative minds here, so i thought i'd give it a try:
my washing machine smells funky. it is very old, but it makes my clothes smell horrible at times... i am sure nobody else notices the smell- but i do!
do you think that running a water and bleach wash through it would help this? if not that, can anyone think of anything else?
oh okay- well i suppose i have to wash some of the crafty things that i made- so i guess this is a little more related to crafting than i thought!
Thanks!

Any of you craftgrrls that are also members of glitter may be familiar with this idea. Seeing as its getting towards back to school / collge / uni time, are any of you making your own day planners? How are you going to go about it? What will you include? I tried to get the info from the glitter board, but the original thread was lost and nobody seems to have saved it.
Are you making any other school supplies?

i mistakenly purchased a size large tube top from ebay, thinking it was a juniors size or something. it's way too big on me and i was wondering what i should do to get it to fit me. it has a great hibiscus pattern and i'd like to salvage this item of clothing if possible. i thought the easiest thing to do might be to add straps to it. or maybe cut it up and use the material for other stuff? sorry there is no pic, but visualize a (rectangular) pink tube top with a white and black hibiscus design. i would like to hear some suggestions.

I need ideas on what would be cool to cover a wall with. I have one wall in my bedroom, and one in my bathroom. I want something creative, not wallpaper. The only thing I've heard of people putting on walls are records... does anyone else have any good ideas?
Thanks...

Monopoly

Quick intro: Hi, I'm Shar. I've been lurking but I finally joined. I mess around with cameras. I paint abstract and simple things. I crochet. And I'm slowly learning little techniques about book binding.

Moving on... Recently, someone made a post about making an ouiji board which really interested me. I'd go about making one myself, but I'm much too scared of them to put one together. However, it did click in my head after reading it that a Monopoly game would be fun to make. I was thinking of customizing one for my friend's 18th birthday, which is still a year away (because her seventeeth is only coming up this month), but I figure this way I can really think about it and not have to rush to make it..

i'm planning on having an unbirthday party, like in alice in wonderland.
it's my real birthday, too.

i was thinking of swapping little unbirthday gifts, decorating little unbirthday (cup)cakes, decorating the house with unbirthday items like christmas trees and easter eggs.

what else?

What type of paint should I use for painting over this ugly dark green paint? It's a big face of a sun on wood. Right now it looks pretty ugly.

Something that will show up pretty vibrant. Should I paint white over it first as not to dim the colors?

What type and about how much does it cost?
[identity profile] supergrrlie.livejournal.com
so i'm moving into my dorm room two weeks from tomorrow...and i'm so afraid that it will be drab and boring.

thus, i come to you guys. i'm looking for cool ideas that will make the place a little bit brighter. there is no limit to imaginations...and i just want it to be more homey.

so if you have any ideas...please comment!

oh yeah...i'm new by the way. i'm mandy and i'm 18. i come from a very crafty family...and i like to think of myself as crafty as well.

:P

I went to Hobby Lobby today and found this fountain for $7.00 in the clearance isle. I bought some moss, river rocks, tiny mushrooms and butterflies and fixed it up a bit. Here are the results!

I'm looking to sell some of my crafty projects but since I don't have the time to set up my own website or anything I am looking into Canadian Craft Distros. I know someone posted craftology and that looks great. Any others people know about??
[identity profile] tyrsalvia.livejournal.com
I have a workshop space (my house has two garages, so we turned one into a workshop for arts and electronics) and a ton of craft supplies (beads, paint, glass, magazines for collage, etc.). The main thing I don't have is motivation and friends who are interested in doing this stuff together (and hey, since I tend to get more stuff done with company, I'm hoping I'll find both at the same time!). I'd like to make a few new friends to hang out and make stuff with. I've got a busy life, but I'd like to try to get together and make stuff once or twice a month, and I've been thinking of doing a monthly 'project showoff night' where people come over and take turns showing what they've been working on. Interested? Comment here, and I'll get back with you.

tonite has been a serious nite of crafting.I'm going thru more of my stuff later to see what I can do.

what I did was glue part of a flannel nightgown to a rubber ducky's head, and then glue paper to his eyes to make him look like he was getting a spa treatment (hehehehe)

next up,I turned a pair of plaid pj bottoms into a skirt.I cut apart a pyramid stud belt, and stitched the pieces onto the skirt.

finally,I made a shirt and then stiched part of the belt on the left sleeve and put some studs in a pattern on the middle of the shirt.

next week,i am going hunting for peeps so I can make them into jewelry

Hello everyone, I just joined. I love to do crafts, and I get half done and something comes up -or I get an idea and can't make it come out right. But I do love to make things.

So I bought some sculpy today to make some fairy horns for my baby girl. They turned out ok for the first try. But now I have a whole box of this stuff. So what else could I make? Anyone have any good ideas, please let me know.
