i have a sudden obsession over felt.
do you think felt would ruin the pictures?

i'm still out and about looking for ways to improve my scrapbook / give me more ideas before i start and ruin it. hehe.
i'm putting a few newspaper articles in it. oops. It might not be a good thing ...? but ...too bad. hehe.

Today I went out and bought 3M Doublesided scotch tape. Acid-free of course.

I'm still trying to find cheap construction paper / colored paper that won't ruin my book. The ones that are specificaly labeled acid-free and "for scrapbooking" in the memory section of Michael's [where most of the supplies are for scrapbooking] are quite expensive. =/

P.S. > Anyone here often do scrapbooking / maybe I can direct questions to? Or should I just continue these postings?
I feel like I'm asking too many questions. Sorry...it's my first time =/

haha ok i need some help.. i cut the waistband off a pair of pants cause i hated how high they sat.. and i went to zip em up and the zip-up thing came right off! haha it was like 6am and i forgot to check if the zipper had a top. the button had been stopping it from doing that i guess. so i tried to get it back onto the actual zipper track thingys but i think i broke it.. because it doesn't seem possible. heh. does anyone know if its possible to fix, or do i have to seam pick the zipper out and sew in a new one?

also.... is there a quick & easy way of preventing the top of the pants from fraying? i like the raw edge look but i don't want them to fray halfway down my ass or anything.

It looks like reconstructing clothes found its way into our local paper (The Toronto Star). I copied and pasted the article below. Its stuff most of you have come up with on your own, but I thought this might help out anyone who has never tried it before. The pictures aren't the best because I took them with my camera since my scanner doesn't work anymore, but they help visualize the instructions a little better.

(Note ** The stores mentioned are here in Toronto)

My sister is having a bit of a war with shoe stores - she needs new ones but she doesn't like anything she sees. She won't wear any of those "cutesy" type sneakers, and thinks those converse high tops make her feet look like canoes. So, I told her if she bought a plain pair of white sneakers, I would paint them for her. She was totally excited - but the problem is, I don't know if I need a special paint or sealer. I've seen people paint their shoes before, so I know it can be done, so I was wondering if anyone knows what I should use?
Thank you so much for any responses!

I'm in a art/craft festival next month and am thinking of setting up a booth to sell my stuff...

I'm interested in setting up an interactive area where people can maybe draw with chalk, blow bubbles.... something like that.

Does anyone have any ideas for something crafty that kids/adults would be into that is inexpensive?????

I was thinking of having a huge sheet set up where people could make handprints and then I'd have this really cool sheet after, but I thought it might be to messy...

If I missed this in the faqs just direct me there and I'll delete this : )

Thanx

For those people asking about the Virgin Suicides-esque fabric in this entry, you can find it and other awesome vintage reproductions at Repro Depot. The one from that entry is called "Lady of the Canyon" and is under Modern Times (60's and 70's).

I'm making pillows for my girlfriend for her birthday and I'm putting a star on each one (to resemble my tattoos). I've never sewn anything in my life and I have my mother helping me but she can't figure out how to fold and pin the fabric for the star so that the points come to a point without having any frayed edges showing.

If anyone could offer any help with this I'd be forever thankful.

Where do you buy your cool/funky/retro inspired fabrics?
I have tons of websites I have found but i am always looking for more - please post pics of fabrics and links to sites - I think this could be a really good resource - (if not already available)

My mother-in-law came home from a holiday in Holland and she brought us some sun activated embroidery thread by Anchor. I made a bracelet out of some of it already for my youngest daughter. I took a couple of digital photos but the difference in colour in and out of the sun is not as vivid in pictures, so I've included a small scan of the embroidery thread pamphlet as well...

Is there a way to apply magazine and newspaper cut outs [headlines, specifically] to a canvas, without ruining both the cut out or the canvas? If there is a way, what is the best way to do this?
[identity profile] bittenbefore.livejournal.com
Hey all,
i dont know if i shared this with everyone before [if i have, i apologise] but since i was sharing the links with those in my journal, i thought i post it here too. They are all from my webpage[which i have not updated in a while...oopsy...but livejournal just makes it so convienient sometimes] but if u would like to view the pages from my website itself as well as other projects, click here
Else...here are the direct links
*How to Make Fabric Book Covers
*How to make a marble braclet [using those glass pebble/marbles]
its nothing terribly complicated or big or even interesting but i thought someone might have some use of the instructions.

disregarding prices and sales and such, which acrylic craft paint would you reccommend, delta ceramacoat or folk art? i don't need it for any current projects but i'm trying to think ahead. i would love to hear your good/bad experiences and advice.

and for those of you who are interested in the prices folk art is on sale at michael's for 77 cents a bottle and next week ceramacoat is on sale for 60 or 66 cents a bottle at joann's (i should know this i work at joann's but i dont know for sure).

i'm very confused about how hem tape works, or at least how you use it!
i bought some because i need to hem a skirt i made but if i hem the normal way it would appear too short.
please explain how i put the hem tape on the skirt bottom?
i'm guessing you have to fold the hem tape and insert the skirt inthe middle and then sew?
or is it actually tape?
thanks

I looked in the FAQ section but couldn't find anything for corsets...any suggestions on where/how to make one? I really want to avoid going to Fredericks and spending the $75 for the really good ones that go from bust to hip to cover that 'tummy' I have.

Suggestions?

I have a lot of used, paper back books that I had to buy to read in school that I will never read/look at ever again. Normally, I would just try to keep the book as new looking as possible so that I can return it when we're done reading it, but I have a lot that have been damaged/written in/highlighted etc. and I don't know what to do with them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I also have three hard back books and I lost their receipts. I don't know what to do with those either. I would make box books but some of them are quite lengthy [David Copperfield] and I don't feel like cutting out 877 pages. Any suggestions at all are welcome.

Okay, so I was just eating an orange and was thinking about Christmas (me and my silly mind always wishing it was Christmas time because I love the decorations and such) and I remembered how at some craft places I've seen like wreaths and swags and things made with dried orange peels, apple slices, cinnamon sticks, etc.

I want to make one, and start saving my orange peels to string together and make a cute deocration for my apartment come the holidays.... but how do I go about drying the things so they still smell good? I don't have a dehydrator, which was my first thought, so is there any way to dry the things in the oven?
