Does anyone know what I can use to make a hole in a watch strap with very very thin straps? I don't want them to break, it's a very lovely and very new watch.
It's leather if that helps.

This isn't the watch but the straps are the same width, there's two of them.
Thanks.

I've noticed several people posting crafts made with cd jewel cases. I've got a bunch lying around here that I hate to just throw away.
If anyone wants them, leave a comment.
cheers.

I've been lurking for a while but this is my first post.

Can anyone please tell me the easiest way to dye a light blue velvet skirt black? I want to make a really cute skirt with black lace inserts with it.

Thank you in advance.

it was previously mentioned that this community has a few journal codes. i have a friend that reads this community (a crafty guy!) and would love to have a journal/contribute to the community. if he can get one of those, i'm sure he'd really appreciate it. if someone can contact either me or him (aim: zemognad), that would be great. thanks so much, lovelies.

Has anybody had or does anybody have a "Handy Stitch Mini Sewing Machine"? Ya know, the "As seen on TV" one? I've never bought anything from an infomercial before but i'm pretty tempted due to the fact that my sewing machine is on the fritz and after calling around today, it's going to be around $100 to overhaul it. I figure i can buy a cheapo machine for what it would cost to fix my Bernina Bernette 730A.

my boy matthew's grandparents is moving so they've cleared out the house and his grandma was about to give all this material to charity until the matthew's mum said i might like it. so now i have this bright green heavy cotton with daisies on. it is adorable :) i also got some lighter cotton that is white with little strawberries.

anyway i'm torn between making a skirt or a pinafore dress type thing with the green. i don't think i've got enough frabric for both. i would probably wear an a-line skirt more but a dress might be more fun. any opinions?

I'm pretty sure there's a knit and bitch in Chicago somewhere. I'm moving to Lakeview on Monday, and I was wondering if someone knew the information about it? And if so, would like to be my show-me-the-ropes knit and bitch buddy? I'm a nice person! lol.

Well... my paid time is just about out... and I may just scrape up the cash by myself... however in my crocheting and an idea hits me.

Question : Is a year's worth of paid time a good trade for a "custom" afghan/lapghan measuring about 5 * 5.5 feet? (poss 5.5 * 6 if pulled) The yarn would come up to about $20 depending on the type and if shipped - that would be about half of the postage.

Just a brainstorm. *laughs*
If you're intersted let me know ^.^ I really wouldn't mind taking on such a project. (then again I like give aways. And that may just be considered just that as such kinds of blankets hand made for babies and customized - even simply can cost maybe $40+ if done for profit...)

Have any of you thought of selling your crafts off in such a way and had success?

Hi, I'm Kabi and I'm incompetentententent. *laughs*

This is my first sew and show.
After weeks of lurking I thought it's about time to show something.

Nothing fancy, it's a hat made out of an old bed sheet given to me. And some tulle leftover from a silk screen I was going to make.

I founds this T-shirt and jsut HAD to buy it ot customise. I'm not into punk music, so it's gonna be sold, but I adore it!!! (It's got watch out, punk is coming yet it's obviously mass produced...so I had to customise it to make it a little more in the style of punk fashion..hmm..I like how it came out!) So i've added the gathered, lace cap sleeves (edged with navy blue ribbon) and also along the lines of the flag, I've added the red polka dot fabric and also, some red satin and I've sewn pink netting over the womans face and also the "watch" writing.
I love this T-shirt but wouldn't wear it, so it's either being sold or hung up on my wall!

I made some more envelopes today out of memory paper/scrapbook paper.
Go here to see them:
http://www.geocities.com/crafty_girl811/HandmadeStationery

Yes it is my sale site, but these envelopes are not for sale yet. Eventually I plan on selling them in the flea markets and such. I was just too lazt to upload them to a photo sharing place, so I added them to my site. They will end up there eventually right?

I am not trying to sell them in here.

I just wanted to show everyone what I made today. I believe that is all. Enjoy!!!

Oh yeah...there is 3 pages of the envelopes. There are links at the bottom of each page so that you can get to the next page, the previous page, and my main page. I do not have much other up yet, so I would not bother looking. But check out the envelopes if you'd like.

Hi guys. I bought two tubes of stained glass paint at Walmart, brand name "Gallery Glass". On the back, it un-helpfully says "See patterns, kits, and books for complete instructions". The problem, of course, is that I don't HAVE any patterns, kits, or books.

I previously bought one painted glass kit which came with a tiny syringe-type applicator. Does anyone know, should I use that applicator, or a regular brush, when using Gallery Glass paint?

I have a silver flask, very similar to this (in terms of dimensions):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3620389969&category=208

I'd like to give it to my SO; however, I've had the darndest time cleaning it! The enclosed instructions said to fill it with water a few times and gently swish. However, this action produced lots of black and metallic gunk. I think I've probably rinsed the thing scores of times, and I'm still getting little bits out of it.

What would be a good way to clean this thing for future use, if use is possible?

Alternatively, would there be a way to seal the inside with something food-safe?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hey dudes and dudettes. So, I finally joined the group - I've been reading for a few months. I'm really into thrifting, clothing reconstruction, and making handbags. Butttttttt, the real reason I finally joined was to get some input.. Um, ok - so the theme for the homecoming dance this year is - get this - PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN. I know, I was amazed when I first discovered it myself. So, anyway, I was wondering if you guys could give me any ideas for a dress or outfit that I could make or buy- that wouldn't be completely cheesy- that would go along with the theme. thanks kids!

Some of you might remember me as the girl who made a Quidditch jersey. Well, I really wanted to post something NON-Harry Potter related, but I ended up coming up with a slogan after making my jersey. So I just had to put it somewhere. Here's what I did with some inexpensive tote bags from Rag Shop:

So... I've become fascinated with those little circular metal rimmed tags. Like the ones you see used for price tags and such. I've seen them used for scrapbooking and such - or at least sold for scrapbooking. But I've never seen instruction or idea sheets for them...

So what can I use these for? Any ideas, pictures? The ones I have are about 1.5 inches, I think. And the hole in them is just big enough to fit one of those little eyelets, which is cute.

Also... on a not so completely different topic - I'd like to start getting into stamping. Can someone suggest good, fairly reasonably priced places to go for 'staple' stamps. Like stamps that would be used for more than just one project... you know, to start amassing a collection.

Loves,
~bubbles
