Crafty Noise is a knitting circle for knitters in the chicagoland area. We will meet and knit at selected spots in Chicago, fingers crossed once a month.

You don't need to be a wonderful knitter to join -- you just need the interest. We will all learn from one another. The goal or mission is to meet other knitters and have fun talking and knitting.

Do you any of you crafty types have any ideas of what to do with digital backup tape boxes? They are like a more pliable plastic cassette tape box, only square. Here is an example of the tape case.

They are hinged, but you cannot really make a container out of them, since it hinges open in the fourth side. I have boxes and boxes of these at work, I hate to throw them away when they are so handy seeming!

I'd love any ideas, and I'm certainly happy to share the wealth!

i posted about my cat cell phone cozy a while ago which i ripped off from meomi.com and yesterday i attempted to write a pattern. key word: attempted. i'm sorry if it doesn't make sense but i'll try to explain it the best i can. this was my first time writing a pattern and also first time making up a pattern freehand. anyway here it is: cat pattern )
also if my pattern sucks, you can make a regular cell phone case from this pattern at michael's hahaha.

I did get some good answers in the crochet community, but I might as well be greedy. The more clearly I can understand this the better.

I'm a ravenous fan of Stitchguide.com (especially for the videos- they're the only thing that really makes sense to me) but it seems that they've failed me in one respect.

I still can't figure out how to tie off my work. I also don't understand when you start a new color how to tie off the dangling end of the new string as well as the one you just quit (does that make any sense at all?)

If anyone can explain these things in a REALLY comprehensive way, I would so appreciate it. I can't find a good explanation for it anywhere.

I won this auction off of eBay:

and I have no use for the string of pearls...anyone want them?
I have no use for them.
Whoever replies first gets them.
Also, I have like 1,000 transparent leave beads. I dunno what to do with those. You can have some of those too if you'd like. Not all though.
If you want the stuff...lemme know quick. I am going to the post office tomorrow and can send it off.
I was going to post it in the [livejournal.com profile] craftsupplyswap community, but I figured I would do it here first. You all have been so helpful to me over the time I have been in here.

Helpful ladies (and gents?), can you help me and my friend out by directing me to a how-to or a community that can help us? We need to shrink a pair of jeans. I did a google search and found one site that says to boil them but I'd like a second opinion.

Thank you!

just a heads-up to knitters...

in case anyone had bought the fall issue of vogue knitting and was interested in making the a-line skirt on page 94, there is an error in the instructions. i found out the hard way, and now have two rows of intricate knitting in mohair yarn to undo.

this is just a question,

i have an old fabric padded photo frame, it's very sort of twee and quaint, it's red and white gingham fabric, and i'm not sure whether I should paint over it or not, as i want to put a promotional kitchen photo shot of the cast of Six Feet Under in it, with the words "Home Sweet Funeral Home" on the frame for a friend who likes Six Feet Under a lot.

EDIT:
I traced the letters from the promotional ad onto an old white shirt, cut it into strips and just sewed that on, as a fellow crafty girl said in the commments , it's a juxtaposition of the oldfashioned comfy home crafts and family values and it featuring a family who's anything but old fashioned hehe.

hey guys! I just read over the rules to make sure this was allowed and it looks like this is a go. So I just wanted to let you guys know I created my own crafting community. This will be a community where you can post your crafts just like we do here, However I will allow promoting and selling as long as they have to do with HANDMADE OR HANDCRAFTED items. So If you're looking to expand your exposure come and post away.

http://www.livejournal.com/community/krafty/

If this post is NOT o.k with the moderator please contact me and let me know how I can get a link on your page under the communities that do allow selling and promoting. Thanks

i want to learn how to crochet and i'm thinking a fruit hat (seen here http://www.meomi.com/storehats.html ) would be a fun project. i am probably getting a little ahead of myself, starting with hats and all but it's so cute. i know someone recently posted a watermelon hat.. does anyone have any patterns?

I'm going to be a pirate for halloween. I have come up with some cute ideas but I really have no clue what I want to do, so some crafty low-cost ideas would be very much appreciated. <3
