Anyone go to the huge Michael's sale today? Here's my loot:

8 12x12 regular pages
1 12x12 punch out page
1 12x12 Diamond Dust page
3 Alphabitties sets
1 large circle hole punch (for marble magnets)

Total: $8.50. At original prices, it would have cost 12.49. I'm extremely happy with my pages and have completed 2 new layouts since I got the supplies around noon.

I just adore Michael's sales.

I am googling, but I don't know if this exists. There are people who sell plushy cthulhu's Example. I want to make my own, but I don't have a pattern.

Would any of you know where I can find a pattern for a plushy Cthulhu?

Thanks.

I looked in the memories, and there was mention of this, but no instructions on how to actually make this.

I have aquired a ton of CD jewel cases and I want to make a lamp out of them. Does anyone have any instructions on how to do this?

Thanks in advance :)

I'd been pondering this problem for a week or so, and it finally dawned on me to post about it here. I'm a novice sewer. In my life I've done maybe 5 sewing projects (and 2 of those were in home ec. class). But I've been thinking about sewing some covers for my mismatched living room pillows so they all match. And I figure all the straight lines will make them pretty easy.

My question is about how much fabric to add for the edges. I know the measurements of the finished pillows, but need to know how much fabric to buy and cut out for each one.

Also, I'm planning on using velcro on them, but am debating whether to make one whole finished edge a velcro closure, or to make them kind of like pillow shams (which is what I'm leaning towards, but it seems slightly more involved), with an overlap in the back, and put velcro on that. That would involve some extra fabric, too, I think, and I am not sure how much I should add for that.

The only web surfing I've done for this so far is to look at DIYnet, and I only found no-sew pillow covers on that site. Can you guys help me plan this out? Thanks!!

Hello everyone.

I've seen a lot of post regarding craft fairs, so I decided to post an invite to an excellent one.

For those of you near Worcester, Ma you should come check out STart on the street September 21 (rain date is the 28)

It's put on by these excellent groups trying to create a diy scene in the Worcester area, be it by this huge festival (which is free for vendors and goers) or by trying to create spaces for all ages shows.

They'll be tons of artists, crafts, and booths to learn to make different stuff as well!!!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions robotparade@earthlink.net

i have this rediculous idea about making a lampshade with slides on it.(the type of slides used in a slide projector)i want to cut the actual transparant part out of the cardboardish piece and then put them on that way.
would this work with a regular square shaped fabric-type lampshade? and if so what would i use as an adhesive? i was also wondering about what kind of plastic you could use to make a lampshade that wouldn't melt or anything....

thanks.

today i felt crafty and decided to make a pencil bag. considering the fact that i could not sew my way out of a paper bag it turned out ok and i had a little bit of fabric leftover...so i thought "hmmm...all these crafty ladies are making these great purses i'll try too". it turned out ok. nothing like teh fine creations i see on here all the time, but i guess some people have it and some dont. i probably wont carry it because i attached the straps stupidly, but not bad for a first try. i think i'm gonna stick to non-sewing crafts though from now on.

hey --

so i'm making a sketchbook, out of an old book for a class project.
it's an old copy of one of my fav. books, and i cut it down to the size i need it, took off the cover, and am now planning on recovering it.

i already made the cover out of an old cereal box, i'm just wondering now what i should use to stick it in there. i tried some heavy double stick tape, but it's already comming out..
what should i use?
i was thinking about a glue/tape/sewing combo. but i'm not sure.
any suggestions?

i have methyl cellulose if that helps anything.. and a hot glue gun, and some good PVA glue.

thanks in advance

i need your help you guys.

my boyfriend and i, being bored out of minds, decided to try our hands doing some sort of craft together, the problem is we can't find anything unisex we both can agree on. he doesn't want to do anything to "prissy" and i don't want to do anything with woodwork (the only craft he's ever done).

any ideas would be greatly appreciative, thanks.

Okay so my 2 years anniversary with my boyfriend is coming up in about 2 months and i think i want to go the crafty route. i was thinking of buying a paper mache box and putting either things we've done like movies and stuff all over it or reasons i love him all over it... then i wanted to attach a string or something with little cards to the lid so that when he pulls the lid off the cards come up and they will have a line of a poem/piece of my own writing on them then whatever gift i buy for him will be in the box too...

so what do you all think??? is there anything else anyone can think about or any improvements? i would love to have your input! thanks
