Anyone have any experience on using milk paint on unfinished wood? Tips, tricks, reputable online sources to buy? I just bought myself another spinning wheel & I'd like to finish this one in a milk paint base until I decide how else I want to decorate it.

I have a whole bunch of peacock feathers. They are sitting in a vase, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas of what I could do with them? I looked in the memories section and I didnt see anything about what to do with feathers. Can you help?

the Elvgren cowgirl book )
I made this out of some Elvgren prints. The text block is French Aged Parchtone, with liner and accents in French Kraft Speckletone paper. Navy star-shaped & deep red circular grommets. deep red waxed linen thread for the coptic bind. It's about 6"x9".

Then to get rid of some pennies in my pocket, I made a couple of mini accordion fold address books.

Hey Ladies. I know it's bad form, oh believe me I know, but I'm asking for a bit of help in exchange for a bit of web-stardom. I run a feminist PR company called Lefty Lucy Communications, and I'm doing web-based promotions for a movie called Love That Boy.

The film was written and directed by Halifax/Toronto indie-film-starlet Andrea "Parsley Days" Dorfman, who always uses a lot of crafts in her movies. In this film, the lead character (Phoebe) has this insane list of things she wants to get before she finishes university. Things like "knit a sweater" "inner peace" "wine tasting" "learn braille", etc ... So on the website, we're hoping to have a handful of awesome DIY instructions, posted as "Phoebe's how-tos".

I was wondering if anyone would like to offer up a favourite craft/recipe/homemaking-brainstorm to be reprinted on the site, in exchange for blog/journal linkage?

(ducking)

If anyone is so generous and kind, I can be reached at handmade@lovethatboy.com

Sorry! Sorry!

i take a printmaking class in school and our current project is to do a lithograph of a figure. i'm really interested in drawing a guy with a guitar, but i'm a really bad freehand drawer. i need to draw a picture by looking at something else to get the lines.

i was wondering if anyone could recommend a good site for black and white pictures, especially one where i might be able to find a picture of a guy with a guitar?

things im doing to keep myself un-bored.
- basketry assignment!
technique: wrapping yarn around clothesline and catching it every once in a while to create that spiral-y thing.. im making a pumpkin basket! no no.. jack o lantern.

yeah i know. the mouth and semi-nose look really weird. meh.
im thinking about making a rug that way for my cousin for Christmas. i drew her name this year.. and shes in college, so i thought a neat rug would be fun.

- i finally learned how to knit last night! aaah! we have this book with directions on how to do EVERYTHING from needlepoint to crocheting.. with that and pointers from mom (and dad) i finally got the hang of it! whee! well.. sort of.. i just need to work in casting on a liiiilte less tight. yes. but i wanna make a scarf. cuz i can. wee.

- the next thing we gotta do in sewing tech. is a shirt...thing.. well the requirements for it were to find a pattern that included seperate sleeves, buttons and buttonholes, and a collar.
IM MAKING A COAT! YES!
pictures will come soon.. if i rememeber...

that is all..

I know it's kinda early to be thinking about Christmas but I am anyways. I already have planned what I'm getting my girlfriends and family. But I can't think of anything to get my boyfriend! He's 16, alt/punk, and really wouldn't want a duct tape wallet or guitar strap. And he doesn't wear vintage tshirts. I'm thinking maybe food and something else but I'm not sure what. Any suggestions? Possibly gift certficates but I want something a little more personal.
