stupid camera still not working.
but i made christmas cards.
using construction paper to decorate, i took sides from cardboard boxes and tore off one "side" making it corrigated (bumpy) on one side and not on the other. i made the corrigated side the outside and folded the piece in half like a card (i scored it with scissors to make it stay flat when shut). they came out REALLY well and look super cute. i also made ones with two seperate pieces of cardboard corrigated/non corrigated sided and then hole-punched then and tied them together with pretty string. it looks cute.
sorry i don't have pictures. i'll try and get some.

Hi. Long time lurker, make crafts from your gal's ideas, 2nd time poster.
I have a silly question.
I'm semi-close to the people who work behind the desk at my doc's office (they're nice to me) and I wanted to make them a little something-something for x-mas but I'm a little torn and perplexed at what to make.
I want it to be appropriate, yet nice.
There is a women, a man, and a college aged student. I was thinking maybe marble magnents(for the college student), or decorate an ornament, or snow globe, but I don't know if those or good ideas in the least. And I'm perplexed for the adult man. I'm 17 years old, if that helps. Any more ideas or encouragment for my ideas would be great. If this is a stupid idea then please tell me! I don't want to make a fool out of myself. Plus, any cute ideas for a doctor would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

I want to make my friends things with those altoid tids (decopauge, paint, put trinkets in there, etc) however i do not want to go out and buy a million tins and have 2 eat 4 trillion mints in a week. if anyone has some empty tins (round, or square) just laying around or whatever i would REALLY appreicate you getting in contact with me we could possible work out some deal i feel stupid for paying for a used altoid tin but i suppose id do it.

Hi everyone,

I have been developing some new soap recipes and naming them, and have the idea to name some of my soaps after some songs that fit, or lyrics from songs.

Is this a no-no in the copyrighting world? I've been reading up but this is not coming clear to me. I'm wondering if anyone here has encountered this issue before?

Thanks in advance...

MY FIRST KNIT SHAWL!
Here are some pictures of my first knit shawl! It was knit on circular needles size 13 with Lions Brand Homespun. Basically I just did a stockinette pattern; knit 1 row, purl 1 row. On each knit row I increased 1 on the first and last stitch. It came out a bit long but I like it, this one is for home use but I want to make a more elegant one, maybe out of angora, to wear out to dinner and stuff. Anyway, tell me what you think!

my sister gave me a mirror with a blue frame. I painted the frame in another colour, and i took small shells i got from Barbados, and glued it all around the frame. Lets say it took about 6 hrs. But i think it was worth it.

When I was a kid we had special cozy fleecy blankets. These blankets had snaps on them so you could snap them around yourself into a cocoon of warm fuzziness... with arm holes! =)

I sure would love to have blankets like that again. Anyone know where I can find some.... or better yet.... find a pattern for one?

Thanks.

[Edit] Oh, I found some! They have a name too... "Cuddle Wraps".

I made this from a pair of Khakis that I wear to school [we can only wear khakis] and they got a hole in the crotch, and I didn't want to throw them away, considering, I don't have money to buy a new pair, so I made a skirt!!! Woohoo!! I love it.

My New Khaki Skirt )

I have a question. I want to make those sock bags for necks and stuff. I want to make one that has a scent to it. What's a good scent that would help relax muscles? And should I use oil and then just put it on the rice or should I use crushed leaves?? Thanks.

So I know you guys are really sick of present questions, but 'tis the season.

I need your help.

I have a cousin, Michael, who is 24 years old. He's a very big nerd (Star Wars/Trek, D+D, etc.) who double majored in Mathematics + Computer Engineering at Vanderbilt. You're wondering what that has to do with anything, right? Well, regardless of the fact that he's very sweet and tries to say he likes everything, he's too smart to be a good liar. And is the hardest person ever to shop/make for.

I'm trying to make all my presents this year, and all you girls have been the biggest help EVER. So I need you once more!

Thanks so much for any suggestions you may have.

XOtrisaratops!

My friend has been wanting a white guitar for a very long time. My friends and I got together and bought a guitar, but it didn't come in white, so I painted it. It was a very dark blue. After a lot of sanding, priming, spraying, hand painting, and gloss coating, this is what we ended up with.
I really hope she likes it.

used in the process:
various sandpapers, numbers 210 to 400
krylon primer for wood/plastic
krylon white gloss paint for wood/plastic
krylon clear glaze for wood/plastic
acrylic paint in white, red, maroon, and pink

(I promise this is not an ad for krylon paint...I did my research and was told that as far as paints going and at-home guitar jobs, their paint is the most appropriate.)

I am going to be bringing [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl up to the S2 style, and give it a background. I will try to keep everything as similar as possible. There may be some odd flickers of backgrounds on and off here, so my apologies, and I will be as quick as I can!

Hey, sorry for making a question post but I have pair of pants that I would like to make lower at the waist. I was thinking of taking out the zipper, and folding down the waist one fold over, then sewing. But I'm not sure what to do where the zipper would have been, buttons maybe (?) Any ideas?

Heyo, I need some SUGGESTIONS. For Christmas, I am making my dad a clock for his garage. I'm using parts of an old clock that I have and a rim that I found in the parking lot. He loves cars, so I thought he would appreciate it. What could I possibly use as number markers?!? I know I can't leave it just all blank because I know it will drive him batty.

Thanks in advance, lovelies.

two questions for all you lovely ladies and gents:

1. i once came across a great web-site with instructions to make nice little origami shades (the kind that you thread on a string and hang from your ceiling) and book-marked it. it used to be here, but the page no longer exists since it was a feature from an older issue of the magazine called "canadian living". now i'm on the look-out for a different site with similar instructions but have been having trouble finding one, so far! there are sites in the FAQ that provide really complex instructions for origami 3D stars but i was looking for something much simpler... the shades don't have to be in the shape of stars, either.
can anybody help me out??

2. i am also planning on embroidering my initial, "D", on one of my boring old cardigans in the style of laverne from the show "laverne and shirley". i was wondering if anybody knew of a nice cursive font in which the D looks similar to the font of the "L" on laverne's shirt? in case any of you haven't seen the show or need to be to be reminded... here is a picture )

thanks in advance!! :)

Hi! I've been a lurker here for a while and I love admiring all the beautiful things you all make! I just wanted to share my favorite idea site for crafts. There are lots and lots of ideas for holiday gifts and I know you can make them for far less than what they are offering to sell them at. I visit often and swoon! I hope you all find this useful! Enjoy! http://www.uncommongoods.com

Pleaaaaase don't hound me for this, I am aware that there is a consignment page in the FAQ but it doesn't really have any opinion to it. I was wondering what consignments shops you use, or would use, and why? What are your likes and dislikes about the different consignment shops? There are just so many it would be nice to hear the things that they don't tell you in the information pages...it's like..Consignment: Behind the Scenes.

i got totally inspired by someone's paper punced ducky card and am going nuts trying to find punches. they is expensive!

ok, so i started thinking that the whole scarves and beanies looke really precious, esp. when crocheted! so i went online (i think www.stitchguide.com or something?) and looked at a couple of the videos on how to's and such. i understand the concept of crocheting, but what personally suits you with the needles? (i think thats what they would be called) maybe hooks i think? I'm sorry I'm new to crochet, so which size would you recommend for beginners, and how much would they cost? thanks!!

Hi, I haven't really posted here...but um. I'm thinking of doing some image transfer thingers...and I have that stuff that transfers pictures to Fabric. I got it when I was about 7, and I have lost the instructions...Does anyone know how to use it?

Ok, so I think it's ok to do this. Just a little bit of advertizing for a new community I started. I figured since [livejournal.com profile] t_shirt_surgery was deleted, there was room for another crafty/diy community.

our house has all wooden floors, and they get cold in the winter. rugs are so expensive, so i was thinking of making one. i didn't see anything in the faq about rugs, but i was thinking of crocheting one. what kind of material would i use? are there any other ways to make rugs besides with looms?
