I have this old egg-shaped wicker chair from when my mom was a teenager, and I'm redoing my room, so I dug it out of the basement to fix it up.

Ok, so I checked through the FAQs and there doesn't seem to be anything about monster fur.

See, I bought a thin strip of everyone's favorite long-haired fake fur and I want to use it to embellish a hat I'm making (pen-pen from Neon Genesis Evangelion). It's gonna have two thin strips running from top to the bottom of the backside.

Now, I'm not exactly sure how I should attach this? I usually do a tight zig-zag stitch to attach things, but I'm not sure if this would look well. I could just sew it in when I make the base, but that would require altering the pattern I use in ways I'm scared to think of attempting.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Anyways, I was bored off of my ass on Christmas so I started making seed bead bracelets with glass beads strung on stretch magic. I made 10 of them for the heck of it...that I am thinking of giving away to random people. Who knows?
I wonder how people would feel if I just walked up to them and handed them a bracelet....only people who have been nice to me. *smiles*
Anyways, I will get pictures of them tomorrow and show them to you all...
changed my mind.
took them now...10 pictures behind the cut check them out.

i made a record clock out of one of those 2.99 ikea clocks. my cousin collects clocks and so far only has store bought ones. we were brainstorming but came short. we need to make clocks, so far she has 10 all ticking at different times. drives me insane but its fun. we tore apart more ikea clocks and drew on the backs, but we want more wierd things on her walls.
suggestiong?

Hi all! My name is Kristi and I live in Ft. Collins, CO. I'm new to this community, but it is just my speed! I'm now very much into knitting, but also teach classes on-line about bookbinding, collage, altered books and art journaling. You can check out my personal LJ ([livejournal.com profile] kurki15) to see photos of recent work (most public posts are all art photo stuff).

I'm also trying to drum up some area knitters for an evening gathering on a non-Tuesday evening... )

I thought many of you Knitters and Crocheters would find this article )
in the NYTimes uplifting and creative. Now, if only I could get someone to teach me. Instructional booklets don't work so well, so I'll just have to wait... Till then, craft on...

i was happily modpodging the other day, WHEN SUDDENLY (dundundun) a lump appeared in my squeezed out whiteness. suspicious, i picked at the lump. "what is this doing here?" i wondered. much to my dismay, the lump was a piece of dried m.p. that was attached to this whole string of the stuff dried INSIDE THE BOTTLE. what the fuck? is this a frequent occurence? does this happen to you girls (girls and the craft boys we love)?

*sigh* i was horrified. messy, as well.

Cupcake

So I tried to make a cupcake candle:

It turned out mediocre... getting the "frosting" on was really hard. I'll likely give it to my roomate for Christmas (which we celebrate in January) because I think she's required by law to like anything I make her, regardless of its craptacularity.

On an unrelated sidenote:

Anyone know where I can get a SQUARE ice cube tray? So I can make ice CUBES and not ice rectangles?

Thanks

Does anyone know how to make cargo pockets?

I was thinking of making a knee-length skirt out of a pair of pants. (By the way, a friend of mine says her Grandmother calls that a "gaudit" skirt, when it's converted from pants).

So I was thinking, maybe I can cut off the two cuffs at the bottom of the pants, turn them over, and use the bottoms for the tops of each cargo pocket, you know? Then sew up the bottoms and sew them on each side of the skirt. Then somehow construct a flap for the top of each pocket.

I'm going to try this and report my results!

Hi everyone

I think this is my first post here so I'm hoping you can help me out. I've started doing painted glass and am looking for an internet site where I can download images to make a mobile. It's for my little 1.5 year old nephew when he comes to visit so I'm looking for kid's images really. Thanks.

i got a $25 gift certificate to barnes and nobles for christmas, so today i used it to buy "the knit knack kit" by kris percival. has anyone used/seen this?? it's adorable!!

i've never kitted before, so i will be back later to report and show off my results...if they come out well. ;)
[identity profile] mollybox.livejournal.com
so, whilst perusing the selection over at PIER 1 the other day, i chanced to notice a jar of marbles. they were $5, and as that was not a day of very much funding, i opted not to get them. silly girl. yesterday, i was in pottery barn and saw the same thing, this time being financially capable of swinging a five dollar risk. bought them. LOVE THEM. these marbles are much nicer, rounder, lovelier shaped and looking than the ones i had gotten from michael's. well worth it. i HIGHLY reccomend the buy.
.xo.

I'm going insane! )

I bought lion brand Pound of Love because I wanted to start making a baby blanket for my new cousin (coming sometime in febuary). There's a pattern on the inside of the label for a baby afgan! It said I needed to do it double stranded, so i think I need to take this one skein, rool it into two balls and then knit together. So I started rolling balls at both ends

Now i have a tangled mess!

Should i cut the yarn and tie it back together? what do you do when you get very bad tangles?

I know this is kinda inappropriate, but I really need to know!!

I plan on saving up my money to buy a sewing machine to make clothes/bags. Nothing outrageous. But I was just wondering, what kind of sewing machines does everyone have? and how much do they cost? i want to know how much I should be saving up for a good machine. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Sorry if this is annoying. you may delete this. But I really want to know.

Hey all

So I was talking to one of my LJ buds and discovered that on top of having a rather lack luster christmas he didn't get a stocking this year! That's a hanging offense in my family, so I figured I'd make him one. He's one of those hipster stylish guys though so I want it to be extra neat. Any links to pics for inspiration?

Or any suggestions as to what to put in it? So far I'm planning on crocheting him a hat and scarf combo, pillow cases, and little handheld game thingies. i can crochet, knit, and sew so that gives me a lot of options.

crossposted...somewhere.

I made a little marble magnet each for people at work and put their names inside them. I thought they were cute little cheezy things but were just for fun. They took absolutely no time to make. I was amazed how much people liked them! See? People do like getting handmade stuff! *grin*

A sizing chart for babies and children (and adults).
It may only work for knitting and crochet because I think the measurements are intended to stretch to fit.
[identity profile] staticdischarge.livejournal.com
Hey my crafty friends. I can post pictures of the painting(s) I've done here, correct. If not then I'll take this post down, but I thought y'all would like to see some more of my work, and plus, y'all actually comment without rude-ness.

[identity profile] lace2044.livejournal.com

I finished my collage for my boyfriend and he loved it. It turned out weirdly dark--as in atmosphere not the colors, well actually that too. My origami cranes with beads went over a treat as did the marble magnets--so thanks to all they gave out help and ideas, and my leg lamp night light was loved by my father. He is not a demonstrative man but he has shown it off to all that come in his house. I didn't receive any craft related books despite my bf writing downt the name of the Crafty Chica woman whose book La Casa Loca I was looking through at B and N. I did get a henna kit from my friend though.

But to all that got cool crafting gifts, you suck. Kidding.
