Hi everyone I have been lurking around here and always wanted to post but was too lazy. Anywho my name is Suri and I love to craft. I discovered this community a while back but I would just look and remained in the shadows. Here is a pic of the bag I made saturday since I had this vision. I am so proud since is the first time I try this pattern and the first time I try my hand at embroidery. I made it up myself since I really like that style of bags I also made up my own embroidery stiches since I like to do everything my way. I have made another kinds but this is my favorite one of all. Anywho I'll be posting more pics of other stuff I have done. Thanx :)

Hey craftgrrls, I need some help. I have a very specific idea for a t-shirt stencil in my head, but unfortunatly I cannot draw and I've been having trouble finding something close to what I want. Rather, I'm not even sure where to look. So, here's the image I need. A girl (8 or 9) with pigtails/braids running from two -three boys. I was looking for it to have a 1950's ish feel to it. If any of you have any suggestions of where to look, or if you have an image like this, I'd be forever greatful. I just don't even know where to START looking.

*ALSO: they could be two different pictures that I mend together to make a single stencil. *
Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

my cell phone was stolen at a show I went to last weekend, and since I was all flipping out and following security around the building, I wasn't able to buy anything from one of the bands I totally fell in love with while I was there. solution: make my own hoodie... )

I wanted it to be kind of messy but not this messy rahah. oh well. what do you think? it -is- my first time stenciling. be gentle. :\

the band is maxeen and they were so good. you should check them out if you ever get the chance. ;)

In more monster fur related news, I found this website which claims to have a method for dyeing such fur!

The fur I have needs to become bright red. The fabric store I went to didn't have it in red but claimed a regular dye (not RIT, but the other one that has the word "gold" in it..) would do the trick.

LIES! It came out cotton candy pink, which is nice as a liner for some of my other projects but just wouldn't do for a Pen-Pen hat.

Tomorrow, I plan on going out and getting some fabric paint and I'll tell you all how it goes whenever it's all finished.

im going to a birthday party tonight and my friend wanted me to buy her a CD. I have the cd and all other cds by the band, so I was just going to burn them all for her. There would be 5-6 cds in all and I dont have any cases. Does anyone know a creative way to package these?

thanks a bunch

I want to glue some feathers at the top and bottom of a lampshade. Can I use hot glue or will it melt with the heath of the bulb? What other glue can I use?
Thank you

since i have trouble sleeping with any light whatsoever, i was thinking of making one of those face masks that go over the eyes for sleeping.
i want to put lavender in it, but i'm not exactly sure what else to put in it. any ideas?

i'm looking for a little bit of shameless self promotion, so that's why i'm doing this. (it really isn't crafty in the 3D, "oh, long and fuzzy!" sense we're all so used to around here, but it IS artsy.) a high traffic community crammed with lots of creative souls! hells yes!

(and maybe you could use some of these designs on t-shirts; that was said to me one time as well.)

i need creative (and incredibly BORED) people to help me fill up my gallery and make it look like people actually visit my website, if you please.

THANK YOU EVAR SO MUCH!

(am really really hoping this doesn't turn into one of those loser posts that everyone ignores)

I think I want to invest in my own screen for screenprinting. I took a class in it last year and miss doing it. Does anyone have any tips on this? Is it a good idea, are the supplies expensive? Where would I look?

I posted pictures the other day, but they weren't very good, so I retook them and I am not showing them off again.
I hope no one minds.

Just wondering if anyone else cross-stitches? Why do you do it? What are you working on?

I was watching trading spaces (hah what can i say...it was pretty late at night...there was nothing on) and I saw one of the designers use wrapping paper as opposed to wallpaper... now... I think if I found a cute enough wallpaper, I'd go about doing this except...

how the hell do you get it to stay on the wall? I'd rather not use staples....and I was thinking of double sided tape...but eh...anyone have any good ideas?

I hope this isn't too off-topic, but ReadyMade Magazine has a deal where if you subscribe yourself and a friend, you get the second subscription half off. I was just curious as to whether anyone here wanted to sign up with me so we could split the cost ($15 each). The deal is located here. I got one issue for free and I'm hooked :)

My friend is in the hospital. He is 17 years old. He just had brain surgery, but is recovering. I know it'd be normal to send him a card, but I guess I don't know what to say and I'd rather send him something else. Flowers(and i'd assume a teddy bear too?) are out, him being male and all.
Anyone have any creative, appropriate ideas of what I can send him?

Hi grrls! Just wanted to post links to some of the things I made for friends for Christmas. I'm sorry that they take you out of LJ. :-\ I currently don't have a convenient place to direct link them from, plus I wanted them to be in my DevArt gallery, so you can check them out there! I'll have more up after I give them away (don't want friends seeing them too early!).

Made another Christmas Story Leg Lamp Night Light tonight. It is for my brother's birthday tomorrow. I am still working the kinks out. I have been using a hot glue gun and it creates some huge problems. I may need to rethink the glue gun thing. It just creates such a mess. I will post picks as soon as I can get to a scanner. I have no digital camera, but am hoping to get one even if it is a crappy low-end one.

I learned how to knit last night! I'm so excited. I have some fabulous Lion Brand Homespun yarn that is very soft and in a pretty reddish color. I didn't get too far last night (drinking + knitting = no more knitting hehe) but I'm having a blast!

I'm sure I'll be posting questions soon. :)

Alrighty, this is my first time posting here and I need help from all you crafty gals!!

My brother is in the hospital with pnuemonia(I probably didn't spell that right) and I'll hopefully be going to see him in the next couple of days. I haven't seen him in at least 7 years because he's actually my half-brother and he had a falling out with my dad. I want to make him something to cheer him up... So what do you guys suggest??

And also, my mom's birthday is coming up next Wednesday and I lack the funds to go buy her something nice so instead I was thinking of making her something. She loves purses, so I was thinking of making her a purse or something... Help? Please? Thank you all so much in advance!!!

so, i'm relatively new to knitting, and i've been working on a scarf in just plain stockingette(?) stitch for a while.. but lately i've noticed that it's doing this odd sort of curling thing )

it doesn't seem like i'm doing it too tight or anything.. will this uncurl when i wash it, or am i just doing something wrong?
