Dec. 27th, 2003 09:57 amI de-virginized this out of an old x-large run-of-the-mill T for my sister. I later stencilled it... what do you think?
I know it's messy, that's how she wanted it =)

Domo-kun scarf and hat
Dec. 27th, 2003 10:12 amThanks for the ideas, girls. My husband claimed he "wouldn't like anything homemade" for Christmas. I saw the Domokun scarf & hat posted here and it sparked the idea, since my husband LOVES Domokun.

Glass Etching...
Dec. 27th, 2003 05:35 pmMy mom and I just hit up the Dollar Tree, and then Hobby Lobby, and bought a TON of glass stuff and glass etching goo...
Sooo we buy all this stuff, and then my mom is reading over the warnings, and telling me about how it can cause death and all that stuff, and to use in a well ventilated area, and how it can cause severe respiratory burns and stuff, and now I'm terrified to use it!
I am such a geek.
I know tons of you have glass etching experience...help me out and tell me everything will be ok?

Dec. 27th, 2003 05:43 pmi don't think there's anything about this in the faq's but if there is, sorry & let me know:
i have a roll of very thick, malleable wire. it's silver-colored and has a brushed-aluminum type of finish. again, it's very easy to bend, but that's just the problem- anything i make loses its shape really quickly and i haven't found a good use for this stuff yet
any suggestions on what to make with it? thanks :)

First Post
Dec. 27th, 2003 06:05 pmWell, I haven't sewn since middle school, so this is going to be very interesting, and hopefully not too disastrous. I went and got all my supplies to make my first corset. Granted I couldn't find the corset busks, so that is going to be a difficult one. If anyone in Colorado has a suggestion, that would be wonderful.
Fringe on a scarf?
Dec. 27th, 2003 07:18 pmForgive me if this seems like a dumb question, but I saw someone who had put fringe on their scarf the other day, and I want to add fringe to the scarf I made for my mom.
I have never done it before, so I have no idea if there is a special way to do it...or do I just tie the yarn to the end of the scarf?
I am using Lion Brand Homespun yarn...It will make pretty fringe.
Thanks.

crafty gift given to me
Dec. 27th, 2003 08:30 pmThis is maybe my third time ever posting here. I used to be
paperruse. This is not exactly crafty on my part, but I thought you girls could appreciate this. My boyfriend's dad and sister made me one of those wooden frame knitting bags for Christmas. Made, as in cut, sanded, fit together, sewed, and carved with runes. I almost cried when I saw it. And it was made with pretty moon fabric. I always wanted one of these, but hated the ugly tapestry patterns they come in. So, to incite jealousy ( I give you pictures! )

Dec. 27th, 2003 08:34 pmThanks to Christmas, I now have the digital camera capabilities to share with you all some of the things that have been wholly occupying my life lately-- so much so that my shoulder and forearm were aching nearly to the point of incapacitation the other night, which was simultaneously annoying and scary.
( + + + )
I have a ton ton ton more than that, and chances are you'll probably be seeing of it soon. Thanks for taking a look at any of it, guys!
(And this may be cross posted to...some other places, I'm not sure yet.)

xmas candies (slightly belated)
Dec. 27th, 2003 10:26 pmPEPPERMINT BARK
very easy to do. i used 12 candy canes per every pound of white chocolate (if you can buy it from a good place, the tollhouse white morsels are not so good, i made some with choco from a local farmers market that *rocked*). put candy canes in bag, smash your candy canes till they are tiny (drywall hammer works nicely)add the dust/tiny peices to your melted white chocolate. smear in (dry!) tupperware containers about 1/4inch thick. sprinkle slightly bigger pieices on top, bang with spoon to set in. put in freezer for a few minutes, break peices and distribute.
CHOCO ESPRESSO BEANS
i failed. i failed horribly. i made little bean piles and a chocolate brick-of-death. i used don fransico's roasted vanilla coffee beans and semi sweet morsels. i recomend trying milk chocolate or adding somethign sweet.
however, peanut/semi sweet chocolate bark is excellent, as are half dipped giant pretzels.

Dec. 27th, 2003 10:46 pmPicked up this black and white fabric from the remnants at Joanns today for less than a buck. The checkerboard material is from a bandana I already had from Hobby Lobby ($1). The button I found in the closet. The binding I had leftover from something else. This is my first project on my new sewing machine!

bits of yarn
Dec. 27th, 2003 11:21 pmHi!! I just recently joined this community and have been listening to all the great talk around here.
I am mostly a knitter but I dabble in all sorts of things; trying to break into sewing soon.
Anyway my real purpose for posting is I recently received a great deal of rug hooking yarn as a Christmas present. Now I do many things, but I do not hook rugs.
Is there anything else you can do with this stuff?
If anyone out there hooks rugs can you use it on canvas? Maybe I could make a furry purse or something?
Any ideas would be great
Thanks in advance!
