::Patterns::
Jan. 13th, 2004 01:24 amNormally, I'd check the FAQ first, but since it's down I figured I'd go ahead and ask.
Can anyone link me to some really good pattern websites? Particularly for bags, skirts, stuffed animals, dolls or whatever.
I've been searching on google and they're either all super crappy and have horrible layouts or poor content or costs money, etc.

Tampa Craft Girls!
Jan. 13th, 2004 08:11 amA while back I was speaking to someone on here about possibly putting together a craft night in Tampa, FL.
Unfortunatly I've forgotten who it was *sorry* I'm pregnant and very forgetful :)
Anyways, if that person, and any other craft girls are interested, please let me know.
I'd be willing to host the craft night at my salon in Ybor. It is a huge, loft style shop, so we would have plenty of room to spread out, and we would also have a place to store our tables, chairs, etc.
Let me know if you are interested!!
Thx!
Tiffany
P.S. This night wouldnt be dedicated to one type of crafting (ie. stitchin bitch, etc) it would be open to EVERYONE w/ a portable craft :)

Pony beads?
Jan. 13th, 2004 11:43 amOn cleaning my spare room, I discovered that I have massive quantities of pony beads, and no real use for them (we used to use them for a game I play, but don't any more). Any thoughts on what I could make out of them aside from bracelets/necklaces/etc.? I've got a decent array of colors, and have a feeling I could acquire a whole bunch more if I get some really good ideas! :)

Jan. 13th, 2004 12:39 pmI know this is kind of early BUT
I'm trying to gather ideas on what to do for my boyfriend for Valentine's Day. I'm already planning on making him dinner, or taking him out if I can afford. But I want to make him something really from the heart. What I was thinking, was getting one of those big heart boxes that have the tons of chocolate in them, but taking out the chocolate and filling it with a card, maybe a smaller box of chocolates, a beaded rose, annnnnnd then I'm stuck! Help! ANY suggestions are welcome even if they don't go along my current idea.

im from israel and i've been looking all over for these simple, clear,
xmas lights that have black or white string, just not that awful green! :(
i can't seem to find them anywhere, not ebay either! also, its important
to say im from israel which means i need a european plug that fits our
electricity. or at least battery operated.
if anyone here can buy this for me and i will pay them back including
shipping, i'd REALLY appriciate it.
here's a pic for example:

marble magnets question about the magnets
Jan. 13th, 2004 05:35 pmwhat sort of magnet should i use when making these marble magnets? does that magnet strip work or are those thicker round ones better? I also just thought I'd mention that a good place to find cute and small pictures is in catalogs, i used delia's and alloy cuz the pics they have of the tees w/ sayings and other cute graphics make for really cute magnet pics. so anyone have ideas about the actual magnets i need to use? comments?

Wasn't someone looking for polka dot paper recently for covering a trunk or something?
I just found this: http://store.storesupply.com/webapp/commerce/servlet/ProductDisplay?merchant_rn=631&prrfnbr=219740

I used designs of my choice for the backpack but otherwise followed the directions the same as in the book. For the front I charted a tribal style dragon graphic I found online & added a yin-yang. For the back I used the Dale of Norway Nagano 2000 sweater pattern (center of it anyway). Yarn is Brown Sheep in Seafoam & Aztec Turquoise.
Colors are actually darker than they appear on my monitor.

community service
Jan. 13th, 2004 09:14 pmI'm just curious, so if anyone knows or can direct me to a link regarding this sort of stuff: community service.
When listing down community services you've participated in on say, job resumes or college scholarship applications.. would crafting for charities (and other similar things, such as the glitter scarf drive on getcrafty.com) qualify for that?
Just a thought since I've only worked one job (which sucked, lol) and being a full time student that commutes, I haven't had time for any other jobs or big huge volunteer type activities.

knitting
A while back I asked for ideas on school projects relating to knitting. Well I decided to knit hats and donate them to kids at my local children's hospital, and have been working on quite a few since then. I finally got around to taking pictures of them, so here they are!

Just wondering
Jan. 13th, 2004 09:57 pmI was just curious if anyone does any ceramics. I am currently taking Ceramics V at my university. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in seeing them. I tried posting in a couple of the ceramics communities, but no one ever posts there.
Take me to your leader.....
Jan. 13th, 2004 10:24 pmI'm just learning to use a sewing machine, though, I'm very creative and can think logically, so I, so far, have sewn a few things either by imagination or by looking at something similar to it. So far, so good. I'm rocking this. :)
But, I can't seem to find any useful sites for sewing tips to give to those of us who are just starting out. Can anyone direct me? Or does anyone have any tips for me?
Anything would be appreciated.

Mix cd Case!
Jan. 13th, 2004 11:00 pmMy friend just got a new car that actually has a cd player in it, so I decided to make him some cds to listen to. I got the new aol cd in the mail the same day. Its like pressed particle board or something. I painted it black, added glitter glue and a felt "belt". The tracklist booklet fits in a triangle shaped "pouch" on the front. I think it looks like cute underwear.
