Hey everyone
So today at Michael's,I picked up a few rolls of paintable magnetic sheets that are 1'x2'.Now on the back,it says that they should be attached to a metal surface.Do any of you have experience with these things and SHOULD they be attached? That kind of defeats my magenetic board if thats true. And they're 16.99 a roll so I dont want to just experiment.I was thinking I could just mount them on some wood then on my wall.Would it work?.Thanks everyone

have been killing time lately with some leftover & random yarn. trying to empty my yarn stash a bit before i head to the yarnshop again & again & again...

broken images? were moved to crafty.myheadphones.org
extra yarn = random things. neck cozies being one of them since they are really easy to do. basic knit rib stitch on number 10needles with added flower that i had crocheted a million years ago for a planned purse that never happened. redheart light&lofty yarn for the bulk of it.

+ 2 other projects. )

I'm going to be visiting family in Phoenix for 2 wks (Jan 21 - Feb 4) & was wondering if there is anyone in the area that may want to get together & hang out? Or any recommended "activities"? Feel free to drop me a line privately via email or IM (all listed in my profile *smiles*)

Hello everyone! I'm Leah, and fairly new to this community. I love it so much, and you all seem like such creative people that I thought I'd ask for a bit of help. My sixteenth birthday is coming up, and I want to have a party. That's not what I need help with, what I need help with is actually the INVITATIONS. I want to do something kind of neat on the invitations, so people are like "Wow neat..." when they see them, and I have no clue what to do! Any help and/or suggestions would be just fabulous. Thanks so much!

Ok girls. I am enlisting your crafty help ( and hopefully expediency ).

My boyfriend called me up this morning to tell me that his family was taking his older sister out to dinner TONIGHT for her birthday. And I'm invited. I am sans gift. His mother thinks that I always spend too much, so rather than buy, I wanted to craft something. The thing is, I have no idea what I would make.

Here's the lowdown..

It's 11:00 AM now, I have to be at their house at 5:45. I don't have time to knit/crochet anything. I would also rather leave my mom's sewing machine out of this project too. We aren't really all that close, so a picture frame with us in it wouldn't work, being that I don't have a photo like that. I don't want to do a mix CD, I have no idea what she listens to.

SISTER STATS:

* 22 years old
* very typical preppy type girl
* into Lord of the Rings
* is engaged
* lives in her own home (so household things would be good)

Gah. Help, please?

Hi. Its my 1/2 week anniversary with my my boyfriend. He likes bright eyes, indie films, computers, and ME! What could I make for him that would show him how much I care?
heh, just kidding. :)

Hello! I'm new to craftgrrl...actually I'm new to livejournal. I started this journal up just so I could join craftgrrl. Therefore, I'm a newbie, so don't poke too much fun at me! :)

Here are some of my recent creations )

I was having a flash of scenester brilliance and decided to try my hand at stencilling. I realize I probably should have started with a project that required less detailing, but I threw caution to the wind.

So here it is-- Bowie in Labyrinth (minus the gigantic codpiece)...

It needs some help, but it's a start.
He's got a wonky eye in the print. But the bright pink on the shirt makes my hips gyrate. )

i need an idea as to what to do with 2 skirts that i have. Pictures behind the cut

help, :o )

I've also been trying to learn how to crochet, my aunt showed me on boxing day, with the crochet hook she'd gotten me, and she did it really fast, even when i asked her to slow down! but luckily she'd also given me a handy little card explaining how to do it. So i've been trying to do that, but it just comes out as a messy lump. i dont understand!

I've also been knitting a yellow and pink striped scarf that my boyfriend gave me a kit for at christmas. Its a ribbed scarf, and its my first attempt at ribbing, and its coming out okay so far!

the first part was also posted in clothes_surgery.

Here's some jewellery I made recently. They're pretty small about 1/2" square.

I'm trying to think of ideas for other things to do in the same style, it's difficult when they're so small. Any suggestions?

Also, do you think these would look good as pendants?

Deer Earrings
Dog Earrings
Bird Earrings

Thanks!

Someone on [livejournal.com profile] fruits posted this link
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=817&ncid=817&e=1&u=/ap/20040114/ap_on_fe_st/singapore_funky_monkey_underwear and it featured a cute monkey underwear design for the Chinese New Year (Jan. 22). I really want to make a pair of my own, so I whipped out Photoshop and made this crude redition:

This would probably be good for iron-ons, either for dark or light kinds.

also if you run a similar group
- do you know any good resources on how to start one?
- have any suggestions?
- any projects or methods that have worked for your group

Okay, so I am really new at this whole craftyness thing, so I would appreciate any tips whatsoever. I have a plain black t shirt with cap sleeves that is just a bit too short for me. So I was going to take some bright pink, maybe even satiny fabric, and sew it on to the bottom. Then I was going to maybe sew on a little bit of black ribbon or lace onto that. I have never really sewed before so I was going to have my mom help me, but does anyone have any tips on that? Also, I have a really hard time visualizing whether things would actually look good, so do you guys think that would be cute? Should I sew the fabric on the sleeves too, to make it look better? I don't have much time as I'm leaving for school on Friday, so I'm not going to go too crazy. Any input would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

Recently I've been making bags. So far I've made 5 bags and each one gets better. I haven't been using patterns either. I'll post pictures once I can find my battery recharger :[

The most recent bag I made came out really well. I used a thicker material but I guess not quite thick enough? I made a typical messenger style bag. The only problem is that when I put stuff in the bag it SINKS in the middle.

My questions are: Does anyone know how to rectify this? Can I save the bag? What should I have done?

I've considered ripping open the front and back and sticking cardboard in between the outter part and the lining but I'm not sure :/

ok there is a little girl who for whatever reason has made me her idol. her birthday is coming up and i want to do something super cool for her. shes always talking about how cool i dress and all, so i am thinking about finding a jean jacket just like mine and putting buttons on it and stuff like mine. now my question for you cool cats is do you have any websites that sell very G-rated buttons and also if there are any other ideas for what i can give a cool girl on her birthday.

When I buy a pattern-size 10, I expect a pattern-size 10. People that are size 10's generally, have, oh I dunno AN ASS. YES. A REAL LIVE BOTTOM!!! So, when I buy a skirt pattern from you, please realize that BEING A SIZE TEN I expect there to be ample room in the back. That way I don't have to add janky side-panels to my skirt.

Thanks

I finished the head scarf/kerchief thing, or rather my 2nd version:

The first version of this looks so sad...all I see is the mistakes. Anyway, this is was inspired by the 'stitch n bitch' pattern. Instead of casting on one stitch and increasing two stitches every other row, I cast on 48 and decreased twice (one as a ktog, and one as a ssk) every other row. I really like doing color changes and decreases now that I can actually do it neatly.
