Okay, so a few weeks ago I was browsing around the community, followed a link, to a link, to a link and so forth and found a pattern for a Peep pillow, you know the marshmellow things that come out around Easter.
I really want to try to make one soon, to see how it would come out. It looks really simple and I don't have much experience with a sewing machine, so I figure it'd be good to start with...

My only problem is, I lost the website with the pattern.

I'm sure there's a way to make one, I'm just not clever enough to do so.

So if anyone knows the website I'm talking about, I'd appreciate a link :D

Thanks!

I looked through the FAQ/Memories section, and I couldn't really find anything on suede...

I don't know if this is really considered "crafty" or not. I have a pair of Costco brand Ugg-type boots that have been stained by my dark jeans. Is there any way that I can safely wash the suede in the washing machine? If not, how would I go about washing suede material?

Second, is there any way that suede can be dyed? I think it would be really cute to have a pair of baby pink boots. I'm not about to go to Ugg.com and pay $150-something for boots that may only be trendy for the winter!

Thanks:)

ummm, well, everyone wanted directions, but i really dont have any.

i crocheted it.
i started with 4 chs i think and went around those (4 sc around for a little) so it would just be a straight thing, then increased a bit with dcs and scs and just kind of went around and around. i don't tend to use patterns when crocheting, cause they confuse me, so i just recommend playing around with it...'cause that;s what i did.
maybe watching american idol helped it turn out crazy.
i dunno if i'll ever wear it though.

I have spent since before christmas trying to learn how to crochet. I gave up until a few weeks ago, and then tryed again. took various books out of the library. then i told my mum that i was fed up of it turning into a blob. did she know anyone who'd be able to show me how to do it slowly. (My aunt tried but she just does it without explaining it too well) so she told me to find the big orange book on her bookcase, called "Golden Hands complete crafts" and that there was simple instructions on how to make a granny square. so i tried. success? no, a blob. so i told my mum, and she said she'd help. and after an hour of her trying to teach me, she gave up. i'd made this:
blobbbbb )
so, she set me off trying to do the triple crochet in a straight line. which didnt turn out too bad..
attempt 2 )
then i gave up for a few days, going back to knitting my scarf. then last night i decided to have another attempt at making a granny square. and.. i did it :D not perfect, but its almost what its suppost to look like!
hurray )

now just to see if i can learn how to do the other stitches. :D if not i'll just give up and stick to knitting ;)

but the book, "Golden Hands Complete Crafts" has so much stuff in it. so i might try something else from there. *bounces away*

I had a great time with those that came out - I know at least 1 is a member of this board so i wanted to thank you nataly and i can't wait for the next time --- I am pondering the 18th or the 25th (the 25th is Ash Wed - do you think that will effect anyone?). The pictures from last night are up on the "site"

I'm poor. I mean really poor. Like a nickle in my bank account poor and I have 6 nephews...and too many friends.
This is my idea....

I'm going to make heart shaped sugar cookies and cover them in sprinkles...maybe write the letter to their first name on them.

I have some Valentines left-over from last year, so I am going to throw in a few of those.
My mom bought a bag of mixed Valentines candy and I am going to put a few pieces of that in the bag.
And maybe some heart shaped smelly glittery soap.

I have the items at home to do all this...yay!!

And the bags I am going to put them in.....is regular brown paper sack bags.
I am going to add their names in glitter and put some hearts on their too...make them pretty.

I have left-over glitter from my Christmas project, so I was trying to think of something to do with it.
Plus buying little cute baggies to put the stuff in are expensive...so I had to get creative.

Just thought I would share what I am doing.

I will post pictures when I finish one.

So, as I mentioned before, I take ceramics and since this is probably my last semester, I want to make something for all of my friends. I was thinking picture frames. But I'm not sure how I should go about it. I was thinking using something like this )
but I'm not sure where I could get these. Any ideas? Or other ways to make a frame?

I'm looking for a pic of the classic tattoo of a heart with a dagger thru it - you think it would be easy to find LOL I want to make an iron-on transfer for a black tank or tshirt for Valentine's Day party. A google search is bringing up everything but... any suggestions for good computer graphic sites? preferably free?
thanks!!!

Does anyone know of any crafty or diy bride or wedding livejournals? I swear I was on one before but I didn't seem to bookmark it and I can find it. Thanks.

I hope it's okay to post things that arent' very recent, I just never got around to take pictures of them.

Since I have the attention span like something really really short I don't knit. Learned how to do it very late, and forgot about it again.

Until... )

this may possibly get deleted, and i apologize to the moderators if this is not allowed. i fully read the user info and it did not say anything about it. BUT, this does have to do with crafty, creative things. i made a community called [livejournal.com profile] creativefucks a few days ago looking for new members. it's everything creative crammed all into one community for the typical artsy fuck. many things are allowed, including photography, mixtapes, poetry, freewriting, fashion, crafts, ect.

join if interested.

Hey, I was just waiting for some picture to load. . . slow modem.

The picture, I believe, was a couple marble magnets in the making by divasteph. Anyways, while they were loading they looked like they were stuck on one of those contact holders. You know, the ones for those things you stick in your eye. I personally don't have contacts, so I don't know if making the tops marble "magnets" would work, but. . .

. . . just thought I'd share. *grins sheepishly, slightly embarassed*

so i was doing laundry today, and i was folding a towel we've had for FOREVER.. i think it was my gramma's or something. anyways, it just hit me how much i love the pattern.
its like really super thick stripes of army green, hot pink, gold, and torquoise blue.. with little white strips inbetween each one.
sounds gross i know, but just trust me.

i reallly want to make a shirt out of it, but i know that if i dont make it the right style, terrycloth can look cheap..
i want it to be something people would be jealous of :) hehe.

i know how amazingly creative you guys are, so any ideas would be appreciated. thanks so much!! <333

Hi, I'm the girl with the Henry IV Part One jewelry project. How should I display my jewelry when I've completed it? I need to make some kind of display with the information about each piece and the physical jewelry on it. I was thinking foam-board with pins/tacks, or a bulletin board? I really can't come up with a way to display 5 necklaces, a ring, a bracelet, and a pair of earrings in a smallish space. Help!

I found This article about what appears to be a yarnshop and cafe all in one. If there was a place where I lived that you could buy yarn, and get espresso, I would never leave.

OK - this may seem like a silly question, but humor me for a moment. :)

It seems like this is the year of the spawning - my best friends are having thier first baby, and my boyfriend's sister is due with her third in early March.

I went to Target today to get some stuff to send out to the boyfriend's sister - and was astounded at the cost of "reciving blankets". Being a crafty type person, I figured I could make these much cheaper.

Problem is... I'm not sure how BIG they are - they were all packaged up. Can anyone give me basic dimensions on reciving blankets?

Thanks. :)

title or description

I got this stationary for xmas. This flowery hat box thing came with it. I'm not a flower kinda gal, so I did what I could to turn in into a jewelry box. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but it is small and compact.

Before

they might be a little big!

i was talking with a friend from my old school about crafts and stuff, and realised that my mum does crafty things, as does my aunt, and my grandparents did too, and so do i. Her mum and grandma did crafts, but our other friend, who's mum doesnt really do crafts and stuff, doesnt either.

is there anyone else who this applies to? or is it just a silly fluke thing? and if it does apply to you too, is it because you grew up with people around you crafting?

if you craft and none of your relatives do, why did you start?

andd.. which do you find takes up more wool (yarn, im english :P ) knitting or crocheting? and i know this one has been asked before, and answerd in the FAQ, but theres more members now so.. if you knit and crochet, which do you prefer and whyy?

thank ya if you take the time to answer :)

Iron-Ons

Welp, I went through the FAQs and got a lot of great info about iron-ons. I still have some questions, though.

If my image has a white background, will the white show up on the transfer? I don't want it to.

Here's the longshot question: How do I make a glittery iron-on like the ones from the 70s?

i made a denim patchwork bag:

+ 1 more )

it was originally going to be a skirt...but there wasn't enough material, lol.
i used two pairs of old jeans and cut them up into squares, then sewed them together. i had a bit of trouble with the second side of the zip, grr. am a bit disappointed that i forgot to sort of leave some space for the strap. ah well, i'll know for next time!

ooh, and i also made some rings ) using ring fixings [of course] and [from left to right] ladybird, smily, flower and cat craft buttons with the shanks cut off, a glass heart card embellishment, heart craft button with shank cut off, green, clear and red round cabouchons :D
