Hi! Have been admiring your handiworks from the corner quietly, and must say, you're a talented and imaginative bunch of persons! Not very crafty myself, but not to say that I don't try :)

Anyway, V-day is around the corner and since quite a few of my friends (including myself) are single, I thought it'd be nice to make them little chocolate boxes:

I made an origami popup card for our 1year Anniversary.

Front cover: A stencil of a spraycan with heart drips. I used a black blowpen.
Inside: Popup steps. I labelled the steps (eg: 1st month, 3rd month, etc), and wrote significant occasions that happened within that period of time. I reckon this will be a good Valentine's Day idea. 10 more days!

A month ago, I made my dad a christmas pop up card.

Twas a last minute job as you can infer from the cover.

Since my dad got laid off, I don't want to go out and spend money on something, like candy or flowers for my mom. Since after they are gone, there is really nothing left to show for it. I decided to do something crafty, that she will love, and she will have for a long time to come. I took an AOL tin, and altered it, and added some marble magnets inside. I've messed with the marble magnets before, but this is actually the first time, anything productive has come out of my testing around.

hey you all
ive been looking for the post about Omiyage in the Faq's but its not there and i dont want anyone who might be interested to miss out.theres a book by Kumiko Sudo called Omiyage handmade gifts from fabric in the Japanese tradition.it has templates for her patterns in the back and the fabric she uses is beautiful.Be warned if you intend to buy this book it has a hefty 21.95 price tag but id say well worth it or you can be like me and go to the library.

Just finished making a SNB wrist warmer. So cool, so easy. LOOK!

My wedding is coming up (well, July, anyway), and I'm making these: http://www.bridalinsider.com/Store_ViewProdDetail.asp?ProdID=256&Cat=87

My idea is to print the design on vellum and then stick it on the back of the flat marble. My question is: What kind of glue should I use? I've used E6000 before, but it was rather messy and difficult; it oozed out everywhere. Being that this is a wedding (MY wedding, no less), I need something that's going to look nice and hopefully be easy, as I'm going to be making quite a few of these. [I'm going to scatter them around the tables at the reception with red flat marbles, such as pictured in the above link.] Anyone have any ideas/experience?

A couple of weeks back an art teacher asked for ideas for a quick gift for her student aid. She had remembered a decoupage mousepad idea she'd seen on Martha Stewart.

1. How did it turn out?

2. Can you give me directions - I can't find it on the MS site.

Thanks!

woodburning

Hi y'all...I've been lurking for awhile. But, now I have a question. I looked in the FAQ, but couldn't find anything...I may just have missed in, in which case, I apologize for the repetitive post.
The current plan for gift for my girlfriend is to woodburn a box (which I've done before). However, I'd like to line the box, preferably with fabric. Would y'all reccommend glue over tacks, or vice versa, or soemthing else entirely? And if glue, what kind would you suggest? Thanks!

I have to admit that even though I have been with my SO for 4 years, I'm not one who is keen on Valentines Day. It seems a bit too commercial to make one day so romantically important.

So I made this for him. )

I made it using a printed out digital image I created in photoshop. I used shrink plastic to make the heart. I added some red tissue paper & some red wire to break up the space a bit more. The frame came from the Dollar Store. I gave it to him early. He loves it.

I think this is a cute little present for V-day, so am posting a step-by-step photo guide on how to make them. The pictures are pretty bad as I've only got a webcam, but I hope they come in handy regardless!

How to make the origami boxes - warning, about 20 pics in total, though not that big in size )

I have a shop and would like to get rid of my walmart plastic hangers and make my own funky ones to go with the atmosphere. I would also like to display some knit hats we've made on wire hat displays. I kept images of cute wire hangers and a wire hat display.
HERE: (the images take awhile to load sorry) http://www.beachniks.net/wirehangers.htm

I went to the hardware store and bought a heavy spool of wire, wire cutters, and a needle nose plier. After looking at the hangers I figured that maybe I can spray paint the wire after I'm done or keep them the metal color and replace the black beads with colorful glass beads to make them look nice. I would like to also make the hat rack but it seems too complex. Another thing I am concerned about is that the hangers in the image look like things might just slide right down off of them. Also the other thing I was thinking is that we have skirts and pants and I'm not sure how I could either integrate a wire coil as part of the hanger to attach skirts or if I should buy those black thick metal clips at an office store and paint them the same color and somehow keep them from falling off the wire hanger. I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ONTHE INTERNET ON TIPS FOR MAKING MY OWN WIRE HANGERS AND NOTHING COMES UP.

PLEASE PLEASE HELP MY CRAFTGRRL GURUS!

I wanted to pass along a tip for all of you crafty girls: Go to estate auctions, or make your parents take you if you need to. I went to an auction with my dad a few weeks ago, and the guy who the house belonged to was a major sewing buff. All of it got divided up into two piles, one had the sewing machine so I didn't want it, but no one would bid on the other pile so I got all of this for $1:

cut for space )

For those of you who hate non-picture posts (ignore the mess, i'm getting ready to move):

As I was tidying the dining room last night, disgusted, I swore I would clean the living room today...
so I looked at it
yup, it's a mess.
So instead of that nonsense, I set up my new sewing machine, spent an hour trying to figure out the bloody thing
and I made this

He's a super lentil... green, obviously
look at how the sun shines on his face/body, like a god...a god I tell you.

now the dining room is a mess too
I give up..
ps. I don't know how to sew, first stuffie thingy I ever made,I didn't draw a pattern , I just cut out two shapes around the same size and some felt...and my sewing machine kept eating my material and making mess, I guess I should check the FAQ ! *g*

Hi Guys 'n Gals. I just got diagnosed with a herniated disc and some torn muscles, which means I'm not ounly grounded from any activity but also in an incredible amount of pain. I'm also quickly becoming utterly bored! I can for the life of me not think of anything I can do that won't cause my back to hurt more then it already does (trust me, it doesn't need any help on that department). Any movement basically sends jerks down my back, as I'm having to lie on my stomach on the floor, severely limiting my mobility, as you can imagine.
I can read, and I can watch DVD's, but neither of which I can do for longer periods of time because of how I have to lie in order to do them.
Help!!! I need something to do besides books and DVD's and sleeping or else I'll go bonkers before I'm able to get back to what normally keeps me sane!!!! I'm breaking I don't know how many "rules" by even being on here and writing you guys, but I'm at a total loss for ideas. Please help, I know at least one of you will have something that'll be just the ticket.
My thanks in advance, I know I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I'm back as normal again.
God bless

i checked the FAQ, didn't find the answer there--

does anyone know of a good t-shirt/undies/hoodies wholesale website? and i mean soft vintage-feel women & men's items, not the stiff hanes or fruit of the loom or anything of that sort. and preferably a website that doesn't need a tax id?

i know there's american apparel, but they only sell retail to individuals and their retail has become ridiculously expensive. thanks in advance!

I posted on of these a while ago, and I finally got around to finishing the second one. Quick un-boring recap: they're for a friend who is obsessed with dinosaurs.
After suggestions from you lovely ladies, I finished the second mitten with the word (sound?) "ROAR".

Thanks for watching...

Okay all the crafty people here. I'm in massive need of help.

I've emptied out some lightbulbs and I would like to give them as gifts to some people (ie my bf who's going off to college soon, and my cousin for her b-day) Now, what do I do to make them stand up? and If there is a way to secure them to the base? Thanks for the help in advance! <3

Hi, I (single) crocheted this hat and two of my friends think that the length is good and I should stop and tie off. I think it needs to be at least a little longer and should stop at my ears. Opinions?

so i am going to make the 25 reasons i love you card booklet shown in this post http://www.livejournal.com/community/craftgrrl/2634028.html
by the lovely reebert.

she made the covers for her booklet with shrinky dink plastic, but, alas, i have none of that.

however, i AM an art teacher and have, at school, pretty much everything else.

any suggestions for something else creative i could use to make the covers besides cardstock?
