I needed some Valentine's, but I literally had zero budget. So here is my Preschool Valentines :P

The first one has a bubble wrap heart, and beads strung that say "Valentine's Day". The second has a tin foil heart sandwiched between red and white construction paper. Both are blank for the moment inside, made with construction paper.

I know they are nothing special, but it just goes to show you don't need a lot of money to make cute lil cards :)

I've got a school project due on the 19th, and it's a timeline up to the Victorian times for BritLit - including events that happened, works that we read, important themes and how the language evolved.

I already know I'm not going to have the best *info* for it, so I really want to do a creative looking timeline. We can use anything, but I was thinking paper would work out better for me.

Any suggestions on really creative (but hopefully not that hard) presentation of the timeline?

So I'm sitting here home sick. Last night I bought a big bag of candy hearts, hoping to make myself feel better. Anyways, I'm thinking of doing something interesting with all the strange hearts that I have (i.e. "Let's Read," "Book club," "Get real," "Lover boy," etc...). The thing is, I don't know what to do. Any ideas?

Hi everyone!
Here is an odd question about pressing seams:
I have a disability, so the range of motion and strength in my arms is very limited. I love sewing very much, but am greatly hindered in completing a project in a timely fashion, because I have to get someone else (ie: my boyfriend) to press the seams down for me. He doesn't always have time to drop everything for me, and I would prefer to complete a project without assistance (who wouldn't!).

The iron we have is big and heavy, and the ironing board is so high, it can't be reached from my wheelchair.
I was wondering if anyone knew of any online stores, or makes and models of irons I could look for, that might be lighter, smaller, and easier to manage. The smaller, the better.

I am completely frustrated.

All help is always appreciated.

I just checked these out from the library. There are some good ideas for decorating that might also be good for gifts. I think they fall under the crafty category.

Decorating on a Dime by Christy Ferer
Makeover Magic by Andrea Maflin
Home File by Christine Dimmick
Instant Interiors by Richard Randall
Great Gardens for Kids by Clare Matthews ( a fun imaginative book for kids of all ages)

Hope you enjoy them!

I've collected A LOT ot bottle caps and found a few things I'd like to try like this

Any ideas on what to use for this? I can't tell from this picture what they used to put the caps on. Anyone have any ideas? It would have to be something fairly rigid.
Then of course is the other issue...how to affix it to the mirror.

I was low on cash this year (ehhh, when am I not?), so I went to Target, where they have candles on sale. I got him a 3-pack of votive candles (sandalwood, tahitian vanilla, and ginseng tea scented), a cafe mocha pillar candle that has coffee beans on the outside, and two candle holders. One is a copper and glass plate thingy for the pillar, and the other is for the votives and it is wire with amber beads. Everything coordinates in shades of brown and the candle holders look kinda antique-y, so the whole package is very masculine. All for less than $10.
Oh and I went to Jo-Ann's where they still have bits of Christmas stuff for 90% off. I found a roll of red ribbon w/ gold hearts and snowflakes on it so I bought that. Hey, I live in New England so there is still snow on the ground. I wrapped everything up in leftover Christmas wrap, just turned inside out so the white side shows and tied the ribbon around it. Threw everything into a Christmas gift bag, it's just red with white polka dots. So for next year if you really wanna be cheap, buy super-clearance Christmas stuff that can also double as Valentine's Day stuff. You could even buy the red & green Hershey's kisses or m&m's and just pick out the green ones....

This didn't take me too long to do, surprisingly. There is a pocket (nunzilla, jesus, &buddha keeping it occupied) on the front, and two buttons for the tab.. if it's hard to decipher.

more pictures, of course )

I got some dried Roses that i want to reuse for Valentine's Day for our table. My boyfriend gave them to me for my birthday while we were out at the bars, and i want to put them out to signify that.

The only problem is that the elaves are sort of.. not in the best shape. lol. What i want to do is display them, on the table still, creatively. Without having to take the leaves off.

(i don't know if that made any sense at all!)

Anyways, do you guys have any suggestions for displaying them the most adventageously?

Thanks!
Stef.

Hey guys, I really need some help with my room. It is so boring, and I want to do something crafty to spice it up. Here are some pictures for some idea on how it looks.

Note: It can't be all uber girly because my fiance lives in the room too. :D

so what does one do when one has about 2 weeks worth of homeworks to read (which instead of being 200+ plus papers is more like 35)...she makes jewelry. yup, she really does. enjoy!

methinks i shall give lovely coworker the red one since she picked the origami paper for me- it's so nice having a procrastination buddy...

and now instead of typing up holiday project sheets, i'm a watch law and order and drool over jesse l. martin...awww yeah...

Has anyone ever made a flag? I need to make one kinda biggish one with a logo on it. I was thinking I could stencil it on using spray paint, but I don't know if that would be lightweight enough ... thanks!

i checked the memories, and was surprised that this had not been asked... i bought a bag of random buttons, and used about five. i have a ton of cool buttons left over, there a few in sets, and then random ones. what can i do with them, besides make a neclace?
[identity profile] teaspoons.livejournal.com
do any of you have cafepress?
and if so, how do you like it?
i was thinking of putting some of my art on stuff like tees and whatnot, and was wondering if it's a good idea.
