Cobra Sticker
Feb. 24th, 2004 02:20 pmWelp, I am going to make something for my brother for his birthday, but I am having trouble finding a key component - a large cobra sticker or decal - Something along the lines of ( these ).
It'd be really cool to get one that's all prism-y or glittery about 18cm - 22cm (apprx 6" - 8") tall. My price limit is $15.
So, I was just wondering if any of you fine people might be able to give me a few ideas of where I could go to find something like this. Ebay was a bust for me. Google had a few options, but nothing I was crazy about. Finding something in a local store would be my favorite way to go, but I've been looking in craft shops and walmarts without finding what I want.
Thanks for any and all info this query may receive!

Please Advise ie: "Amulet bags"
Feb. 24th, 2004 02:26 pmI know someone here knows how to make those pretty mini "Amulet Bags". They have fascinatd me forever and I want to try to make one. I have been beading forever and am confident I am capable of a more advanced design but do not understnd the terminology. Can anybody give me any pointers as to where to begin. I am looking for a web site but none are helping and may have to resort to buying a book!? Any and all hints/suggestions are welcome. I have found dozens of patterns that I LOVE but do not know where to begin. I have an idea of how I want it to look.. Also I would like to learn how to bead over mini bottles.
irregular stitching
Feb. 24th, 2004 02:31 pmok i looked through the faq's and didnt find anything.
i'm having trouble with my less than great sewing machiene. i got it at target, its the super inexpensive singer much like this one. ok heres the problem: some stitches are perfect and others are wide apart. in just one straight stitch. completely irregular. its rather frustrating, i've tried messing with the tension and that doesnt help. i already returned / exchanged one because of this. im hoping maybe theres an easier solution? i'm just sewing through t*shirt material, its nothing special. rather frustrating though.
thanks in advance!

sculpey earrings
Feb. 24th, 2004 03:47 pm
ok they're pretty handmade looking, i should've spent more time making them smooth and even, but eh, it's a first try. well, ok, a third, since i burnt the first two to a crisp in my toaster oven. but it was my first sculpey experience. and now i have a load of earring hooks and different colors of sculpey to play with. woo. ^.^
what is a good paint to use on black cotton shirts?

Hey ladies! I'm new to this community.
I like to do fashion design, jewelry creation, stuff like that. I also like to draw in general, I have an art site if anyone would like to take a peek.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how fabric paint tends to hold up. The few t-shirts I've had that had fabric paint on them(hand me downs from cousins) seemed to tend to get cracks in the paint. Perhaps this was because they were directly tubed on and not put on with a brush..?
I'm interested in buying some black t-shirts and fabric paint, cheapie brushes and some trims like lace and ribbon to pretty them up with.
I'm sorry if this question has been asked before, I don't want to be a bother.

Fish Dish?
Feb. 24th, 2004 10:19 pmHi... this is my first time posting, I think. I've been a "lurker" for quite a while though.
Anyways, my mom brought home this thing, and we're not sure what to do with it. We think it was a dish that someone would put nuts or something in. But it's in the shape of a fish. Someone gave it to her, and she didn't want to just throw it away. Our bathroom actually has a fish theme, so I thought we might be able to use it in there. Here's a picture:

Okay, so it's not exactly a work of art right now... but I think someone here can help me come up with something! The colors in the bathroom are purple and green... some paint might cheer it up.
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated :-)
random silly question
Feb. 24th, 2004 10:24 pmI am just getting into altering a book - and I know that acid is bad in paper (or at least the acid-free paper is always so excited to be acid-free ...), so that is what I am definitely looking out for ... but what does the acid do? Why is it so bad?
(I'm sorry if this is redundant - I did look in the memories, but it is such a random question that I didn't find it there!)

Green shroomie patchwork dress
Feb. 24th, 2004 10:35 pmWell, I didnt think I was going to get to it this soon, but the weather was nice, and the windows were open and put me in a summery mood.
I'm happy with it. Went alot faster than the other, and I finally cleaned out my sewing machine enough that all the stitches work (that thing is way older than I am)
( I wish I wish I wish in vain. I wish I was a maide again, but a maide again a cannot be, till apples grow on an ivy tree )

Feb. 24th, 2004 10:50 pmi know there's some zelda fans out there in this community.
i'm thinking about making a ( makar ) doll out of fleece for my boyfriend's birthday. i have already have a somewhat of a pattern drawn out, but i was wondering if there's any way to re-create the jingly noise he makes? it's not a metallic jingle noise, like in cat toys, but more like..one of those wooden wind chimes. it has a cute, wood-like hollow sound. i hope that wasn't too vague, heh.
i've been tearing my hair out trying to think of something that could re-create the sound but nothing is coming to mind.

Ahhh February...
Feb. 24th, 2004 11:53 pmI have done SO much spinning! (for me..considereing what else I'm working on right now)

Here's everything I've spun in the past 10ish days. The one that's really light yellows and peaches is from a while ago but was sitting around so I threw it in for good measure.
My favorites are the one with the bright green string(lower right) and the one with the buttons. The one with green is actually mellow and sexy but, because it's for construction, it reflects too much for a good photograph.
I'm seriously considering selling these online. I need stock for the store but my paintings will fill the space up quite a bit and I have quite a few hats already. They range from 56 ft. (the one with the buttons and gold) to 357 ft. (the green and blue single) My average length is around 200ft. I can't decide what to charge for these at those lengths. Each one is hand spun and hand dyed so there's no small ammt of effort involved. Thoughts?
