I used the cell phone cozy pattern from S&B, but only as a guideline. I didn't feel like using 3 different colored skeins, especially since I'm a beginner, and this is the 3rd piece I've knitted.

Hi everyone, my name's Maly and I'm new to [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl. I figured I'd join in, because it seems like fun, I can't get enough of crafts, I guess. I've been crafting for 15 years or so, and I've touched on almost everything. I do hemp jewelry, beaded jewelry, sculpture, sewing, knitting, I used to do tatting, I've done candles, journalmaking, dreamcatchers, walking sticks, masks, I do a ton of computer crafts, I've made costumes...geez, I make so much stuff that I really can't remember it all.
Lately, I've been sewing fleece kitty ears and video game character hats to sell on eBay, and I've been supplementing that with some bone and bead work. Tonight, I somehow managed to finish three pairs of kitty ears and two hats, which is a new personal best.

Ok, so I admit that I blatantly swiped ctm's idea from here. (Thank you so much for the idea!) When I saw ctm's post, I immediately began plotting.

In a family of six (4 of us female) we seem to have lots and lots of socks with no mates. I NEED some ideas for what to do with socks! Besides the tried and true sock puppet.
I would hate to just throw them out :(
Any ideas?

Yaye! I finally got them finished!

Well, I sucked it up and went to the gem driller. He was actually nicer this time than last I went to him so I felt safe in letting him drill my jade pieces. I was afraid he'll take too long to do them(my deadline's Friday!) but I got them back yesterday and I just finished them today!

Aieee... 2 more days.. I hope he likes it! @_@;;;

Hey! I'm sorry I keep on posting "how to" post, but I don't have a digital camera to take pictures of things. I was wondering how one goes about distressing clothes. I have this tan tshirt that I thought would be neat if it was kind of like an old vintage t-shirt. I also have this very blue denim jacket that I'd like to jazz up. I read about how you could soak a shirt in bleach and water and it'd get that thin texture, but I'm kind of frightened to do so. If anyone has any directions, that would be great.

Thanks!

I've been looking everywhere for a white curtain panel and cannot find anything like what I want. All I can find in a jacquard print is ivory or oyster - and I refuse to spend $100 on one curtain panel for my bedroom doorway. I have to go look at the fabric store to see if I can find some fabric I want, but I have a feeling that it'll still be more expensive than I want to pay... and I can get a panel of the ivory colored ones for about $12 at Walmart.

Would it be okay to buy the off color and bleach it? And if so, how do I do that? Just use some bleach in the washer? let it soak for a few minutes in a solution of bleach and water before throwing it in there?

The reason I'm asking is that our bedroom doesn't have a door. I'm trying to find white panel curtains to put on a tension rod and hang up in the doorway and then bring over to the side with a tassel, but I can't seem to find anything. And it has to be white because our comforter is white satin and so is our lace curtains.

this lady is great.

does anyone know where I can go and get some x-rays??? They don't keep all of them after making them, do they? Should I go dumpster-diving at the hospital? wait, that could be pretty dangerous, huh? Maybe at a chiropractic place?

I'm going to stencil an image onto a t-shirt with fabric paint. Could I then colour on the stenciled painted image with magic markers once the paint is dry? (Magic markers = permanent markers for most surfaces) Will that withstand washing, or will it react oddly and/or flake off?

(The reason I ask: I only have white paint but I want the image to be pale blue on the black shirt. I have a pale blue permanent marker and it seems to be the perfect solution...)

I've just recently taken up sewing and this is my first real project. I'm quite proud of it.

A while ago I asked for some advice on how to redo an old chair. We ended up reupholstering it and I thought i'd post some pictures. Unfortunately I didn't remember to take any pictures of the chair before we redid it, but where its black it used to be gold, and the green fabric used to be this ugly red nalgahyde(i think?) fabric. And there were these big gold tacks going around the perimeter of all the fabric. Anyhow, here are the pictures. There's also a few pictures of a clock i did (really really quickly, mind you) for my boyfriend for valentines day. And a pillow i sewed (my first time hand sewing something) out of the leftover fabric from the chair.

What are the benefits of making your own stencil and stencilling a shirt rather than printing something on an iron transfer sheet and ironing it onto a shirt?

Does the fabric paint last longer? I was just curious.

Thanks.

hi. i know i'm a lurker but i posted here a few times a really long time ago (i think) and despite the terrible text-heaviness of this i'm going to ask you this:
I want to make a clutch bag that's soft, roundish and gathers at the top. I want to be able to make a button closure for it, not the metal clicky thingie that a lot of purses like this have. does anyone have/know of any instructions/patterns/advice about a bag like this, or something similar?
thanks a lot
ps - i'll post pictures when i'm done.
[identity profile] underworldfairy.livejournal.com
okay so i looked in the faq and found this questions but there wasn't much for a responce so i thought i'd ask it now and see if anyone could tell me how or knows a link where i can find the answer...

Question...

Okay if i was to paint on a clear vinyl shower curtain what kind of paint should i use and would i have to use something to seal it?

Thanks in advance!!

I checked the FAQ's and didn't find anything.
I know this is going to make me sound like a total idiot, but what's the best (easily available, always stocked in the house) solution/cleaner to use when cleaning sterling silver? I was thinking toothpaste, but I'm second guessing myself.
