Whew! I finished a little bag tonight. Kind of a semi-formal evening bag. It's adorable. It's got an oriental feel to it due to the fabric and the shape, which is reminiscent of a flat Chinese take-out box. It all started with the tassles. )

Thanks to the talented Ms. Jordy over at craftster.org, I made my very first bag!!!

Check it out! )

This time it's an asian dragon, he's all slinky and happy. Even if anyone else isn't doing these, I'm having lots of fun making them.

yesterday was the graduation of the last person i know from my old high school. he has a good sense of humor, and when i suggested bringing an air horn (strictly against their "no clapping until the last graduate has received their diploma," which never succeeds) he was all for it. a half hour before we were supposed to leave, i realized that they might try to stop me if i carried it in; so i whipped up a little bag. i don't usually like bags and this has a lot of rough edges; but i think i'll end up using it.

ps, please ignore the brown spot on my floor, we've been aruging with the landlord about it for months.

Inspired by this post (which I think is super cute). I realized that I hadn't posted my cactus cake I did a couple months ago in here (I did post it in [livejournal.com profile] ljgourmet though, sorry if you've seen it already!).
Original post is here...

Image intenstive! May cause sugar cravings! ;) )

This summer I am attending summer camp, and they reccomended bring a small bath caddy to carry your things to the bath house. They also suggested decorating it.

Here's my caddy:http://www.bolt.com/photoalbums/1/0/3/2/7/1/3/4/10327134/albums/photos/UPlv8Tgz38NlAgpB.jpg

Now, I'm going to have a quilt with dragon flies and orange and green, so I kind of want to stick to that theme. I already have a few ideas in the back of my mind, i just need a little inspiration.

Many thank you's in advance.

hey i have a question I'm hoping someone in one of thses communities can answer.
I'm trying to find some UV fabric paint - preferably in the UK because I don't fancy paying shipping costs.
I've been wandering about on Google now for ages but this computer is very slow so it's taking me ages!
So does anyonek now of any UK suppliers of UV fabric paint?

Thanks in advance for any help
Apologies if this is deemed to be off-topic or what have you.

Hey, does anybody remember that post where somebody took these pens and made them look like flowers and put them in a pot? If anybodyhas the link to that post, I would really appreciate it if you would post it here....

I tried stenciling today. I made a Frank (from Donnie Darko) bag.

I will eventually make three of these journals(two for a couple of friends that studied in Wales with me and one for myself). Each one is bound using the Coptic stitch, which you can't really see on the pictures, but it's really pretty. One is bound in white thread, one is bound in red thread and mine (when I get around to making it) will be bound in green thread. White, red, and green are the colors of Wales. The covers are a heavy cardboard that I covered with a map of northern Wales (where we lived) and decoupaged black & white photocopies of pictures I took while we were over there on top of it. The front cover has a one inch square cut-out that lets you see the color photo copy of the three of us at the Bangor train station on our last morning there that is pasted onto the front page. The endpapers (which I didn't take pictures of) are copies of different maps of Wales. There's about 90 pages in each journal.

Someone posted their body art they did on here, they painted someone. I've looked back pretty far for it, but if anyone knows that person's username or community for makeup someone commented to her about, i'd be greatful!

Any ideas on how to decorate a plain white door?
(it's still in use)

And thought I'd share. I know there's always people trying to figure out how to display pictures, and after seeing this, I figured you should easily be able to make something similar at home. In fact, I'm sure that most of us here could figure out something much craftier then that ^_^

I know that awhile ago, glass etching was the popular craft in this community. I guess it just took me a long time to jump on that bandwagon. :) My friend Anna just moved into a new apartment, so I wanted to get her a little housewarming gift. So I bought four glasses and a bedside carafe (a jug that you put water in with a cup that serves as both a glass to drink from and a lid for the carafe). And with a little inspiration from Martha, I decided to monogram them. I used Copperplate Bold text.

Here they are (photo is pretty big) )

If you're interested in learning how to do this yourself, the link to Martha's site gives you great instructions. :) It was an easy and fun craft! Now I'm just itching to etch everything glass in sight (though I'm restraining myself). :)

I want to make my own sketchbooks and journals out of record albums and lps. anyway. I read all the stuff in the FAQ about cutting the records and using D rings to bind them. but can I find rings that are like D rings but completely round at a place like walmart or office supply stores? I have a bunch of vinyl that I've saved for these but I want them to turn out like I see them in my head.

also, what kind of paper would be best? I'm not really looking to spend a lot of money since these are just prototypes for myself. I was thinking of just putting cardstock in the sketchbook and printer paper in the notebooks but I wonder if there is something better.

thanks!
