My boyfriend's mom's birthday is tomorrow, and I plan to frame a picture of her dog, Sammy. I think it looks best in black and white (I'll be printing it later from my photo printer) but I'm indecisive about what color frame and possible matting to use. She's not too picky about having everything match in her house, so pretty much anything goes, but I still can't decide what colors, let alone if I should spruce it up with some crafty-ness.

Oh, and my boyfriend and I attempted baking a cake for her, but tried to flip it out of the baking pan too early, ended up putting it back in and "fixing" it with frosting. Oh yeah, it looks hilarious.

Pictures are here. )

Hey everyone. I was really bored tonight, and I just bought a few plain shirts from Old Navy, so I figured I'd do something with at least one of them. this is what boredom does to you )

I thought I would make it official. The Support page for LJ states:

Users may experience errors when accessing Memories from communities or other friends. This is due to a recent code upgrade, and developers are working to resolve this issue.

So I guess they are aware of it, but there isn't an ETA on when it will be fixed. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I can still put entries into the faq and access it as a moderator, but it appears missing for members. Once again, I am very sorry. Hopefully it will all be fixed soon.

I've got 5 wonderful pictures of my bird. They're about 4 x 5 1/4 inches big (total) with a 1/8 inch white border (from my photo printer, and I sort of like it like that too).

I'm so stinky at thinking of ways to display photos, particularly groups. Does anyone have any creative framing/display ideas? I don't care about "ruining" these prints because I can make more easily, but I want to give proper homage to Spike.

Here are the images. )

What happened to the memories?

I've had problems finding an answer to this question online so I was wondering if anyone here had any advice.

I found a deer skeleton this past week, but it was kinda broken and so I decided to only take teeth from it. I know they need to be cleaned before I do anything with them, but I can't find anything telling me how to clean them properly. I'm afraid the normal bleach soaking thing may be too harsh for them, but I honestly don't know as I've never done this before. Thanks!

Somebody posted not too long ago about wanting some magnetic paint. I can't remember who and I can't find their post but I work at Ace Hardware and we have it there. If it's not at an Ace near you then ask them to order it. I'll get the product number and put it in a comment in this entry. Also I have posted this before but if anyone else has any questions about hardware, paint etc., comment in my dying community [livejournal.com profile] helpfulhardware and I may have an answer for you.

- This may already be in the memories. I'll delete this post as soon as the memories are back up -

My dad just gave me a bag that he got from work. However, there is silkscreening all over the front flap (different company logos, etc). Is there any way to remove this?

here are some of the cigar box purses I've been working on... not 100% finished yet but gettin there...i'm sorry for the crappy pix...my mom took the good digicam for the wknd. These are pretty plain compared to what i usually do but i found some gorgeous boxes at my local cigar store n i didn't want to ruin them...so i just added a pretty neclace draped 3 times as a handle for one of them...then strung beads to make my own handles for the other 2...the cat fabric one...I have a black plastic handle that curves on both ends...i may use that if i can find the right mounting for it...but for now...it's a clutch.

I'll post better piks when I'm done with all the little touches and when i get the good cam back...i have like 4 more that need to be decoupaged so I'll post it all again then

Bonjour....

Ive been collecting bottle caps for a while...thinking i could do something with them, but i cant think of anything. Any ideas?

Also, does anyone have a pattern (because im craftily inept) for a purse, or a skirt?

Alsooo what can i do with a whole bunch of patches i have? my current purse is too small for it..plus my boyfriend bought it for me so if i mess it up ill feel really bad.

I have a whole summer ahead of me, so lets have some crafty ideas (for a kid on a cheap budget...savin up for a guitarr!)

So, this is a weird question.
I'm a baton twirler and I have a competition coming up. My song is Its Raining Men by the Weather Girls.
Does anyone have any ideas for a cheap costume idea? Something cute and flexible.

PS, I'm posting this here because I'm willing to make it or someway to jazz up something ordinary.

I went to the beach last weekend with my boyfriend and we spent about 3 hours looking for sea glass. (We also ran into a man who lived on the beach and he gave us a few pieces he had collected as well.) Today I went out and bought some wire and had my first attempt at making some of it into jewelery!

These were kind of a pain in the butt. The one piece was a demented shape and didn't want to stay in the wire. I still need to finish them off a little, I think.

I was at the supermarket yesterday and saw some Bazooka Gum. There was a HUGE box for $.99! I bought a couple boxes and now am happily chewing gum. But, the problem is, is that I've got a box full of bazooks gum comics. (They are about 3 by 1 1/2 inches big...I'm not using a ruler so it's not exact) I was wondering what I should do with them. I was thinking of decoupaging them onto something...like maybe a table...
So! What are your ideas? Please give full details!

Here are a couple questions for you all to answer if you could too.

1) If I were to decoupage the comics onto a table, I would mod podge them. Is there something that I could seal it with that would make it shiny (not matte)? Would I need to buy shiny mod podge, or do I need to buy the sealer?

2.) I am interesting in making t-shirts into purses, skirts, or other shirts. Where do you all buy your shirts that you use? It needs to be a place with cheap, cute shirts...I have very little money...

Thanks guys! You all rock!

I just made a new community just for selling specifically DIY punk stuff. If you make anything and want to sell it, or advertise your DIY auctions or stores, post here :)  This is great if you like buying cool clothes, but dont want to support huge chain stores and crap. Check it out!

I finally managed to get my hands on a jigsaw, so I finished the dining room chairs. And I went and bought batteries for the camera, so now I can show you. :)

Ratty Rattan of Before... )

And THEN....

Perfectly Plaid After... )

Basically, the process is thus:
1. Remove seat from chair (in this case there were screws).
2. Rip the crappy stuff off the seat frame.
3. Cut a piece of plywood in the shape of the frame that's left after the crap is off. You may also want to put duct tape around the edges so it won't catch your fabric later. It won't show (unless you're going to use ultra-sheer fabric).
4. Fasten the plywood TO the frame (frame to go on the bottom, and fasten back to chair).
5. Put your cushiony stuff on top of the plywood. (I used 2 inch foam)
6. Cover with desired material, leaving enough to give a little when you sit down so it doesn't rip.
7. Staple fabric to underside of frame.
8. Reattach seat to chair.
9. Sit, Ubu, sit! Good Dog.

Well I got the coasters done last night. They were a pain in the neck, and they didn't come out -exactly- as planned, but then again what does?! My friends have said it looks better with the weird agey look instead of them being perfect, so I will trust them! And thanks for the input on how to do it on my last post =D

Does anyone know how to do a diamond or half diamond embroidery floss friendship bracelet pattern? If so could you maybe post instructions or a link to one? I tried and mucked the corner.

I made a pink chinese cotton (i think that means its slightly shiny) messenger bag, lined with a heavy pink cotton (almost denim). I used the process of adding a bottom and side gussets.

I also took a lovely pair of dyed 80's heels and added a star and sequins to them. Do you think anyone would actually buy these? If I find an outfit I might actually keep them for myself.
