So you went to the bar last Friday and got yerself a shiny new zippo from one of those cigarette company people.
But it's sort of a boring little lighter.

So what's an eye-patched nun to do? )

I've searched all over for this, and I just keep on pulling up sites where I can buy magical wallets, but no patterns for them! Argh.

http://www.magicalwallet.com/ is what I'm talking about. J. Crew also was selling them for a while, for like, 25 bucks.

Anyone have *any* ideas about how to make one? I can't find them at any J. Crew stores anymore to play with one in person and try and figure it out, but if anyone owns one, or has any ideas . . . yeah =P

Thanks a ton!

I have a problem!

I'm trying to coat some Sculpey buttons with spray acrylic sealer.
Unfortunately, it is WAY too humid right now for it to dry.
It's still sticky!
(My mom says she is having the same problem.)

Any tips on where/how to dry this stuff?
I've kinda got a deadline, here. :/

Thanks for your help!

So [livejournal.com profile] vicatron and I found some free time to make some soap this weekend, while her wee baby napped. It's just melt and pour glycerin, but it's quick and quite fun to boot. I'm hoping to move on to making soap from scratch one day.

i looked in the memories section..but i have more questions about making earrings..
what are good stores besides michaels, to find beads/stuff for making earrings. it seems a lot of websites sell pieces for expensive?

are there any tutorials that are easy to understand?

are we allowed to posts pics of something we make and ask how much people would pay to buy it?

how would i go about making earrlings similiar to these?

i have been using headpins..and these seem like the balls are just attatched to string?..glued in? something else?

hello!

hey, i've been a long time lurker and i've gotten tons of ideas from this community.

but i have a question for you guys. one of my walls used to have some lotr posters, but i took them down this morning after a sudden inspiration to collage. now, would i need to prime the wall or do anything special to it before i can start putting up pictures and such? i looked over some posts in the faq/memories section and saw one that said i could use a modpodge made specifically for walls for the collage.

and also, do you guys have any suggestions as to what i should put up? the wall adjacent to one i'm decorating has a big costa rican flag on it so i was thinking of putting up some costa rica stuff, as well as just random things i like, but if you guys have any cool/random suggestions, i'd appreciate it muchly. :) thank you!

i did check the memories/faq but what i read didn't seem to apply to my situation or was very confusing.

i'm thinking about making bags using cutouts from magazines/newspapers. i'm not photocopying the cutouts or changing them in any way other than maybe only cutting out a portion of an image instead of a whole image/page. i'm avoiding using celebrities because i figure that definately is illegal and of course more noticable. i am, however, using cutouts from advertisements and articles in magazines such as teen people, cosmo girl, seventeen, and other magazines like that. also, would it be illegal to use cutouts of clothing/products because of whatever company made them?

i'm very much in the dark about this, so if anyone could help i would be really grateful. thanks in advance!

ok so i have this wall right and on this said wall i am putting business cards. i'm covering the entire thing so its a wall made of business cards, i've been taping the on one by one and well its getting tedious and im impatient. so i was wondering if something like modpodge would work? or something similar, cause business cards are heavier than regular paper and elmer glue isn't working so much.
thanx

I hand-spun Chicabee Chicabee on my spinning wheel. She is 75 feet (25 yards) of whispy yellow marabou feathers spun into sage green wool top and plied with shimmering lavender nylon. Chicabee Chicabee is unbelievably soft and snuggily. She is an art yarn, and not designed to hold up in machine washing or rough wear and tear. Chicabee Chicabee is full of slubbies, nubbies, and catipillars. Isn't she adorable?

I'm trying to make some record bowls like the one pictured above. I'm using the thriftdeluxe.biz tutorial. I had a quick question about it, however. What kind of bowls can go into a 100 degrees oven?

Hi all! I usually lurk in the dark corner admiring everyone's craftiness!

But I looked in the memories and didn't really find anything.....sorry if I missed it....BUT

Has anyone made covers for their Ipod? (other than knitting one, which I cannot do as of yet, but hopefully will learn soon). I got one for my b-day and the poor little bugger is getting all beat up!! If anyone has any pics of ones they have made (even knitted ones) I would love to see them! :)

Thanks for any feedback or ideas!!

pink rows in stockinette
brown in an alternating knit 2 rows, purl 2 rows
funfur in garter stitch
pink ribbons for drawstrings & front bows

& what is it you ask?
it's my new handbag called "chic"

* renamed from "chic" to "oh vulva, cover up!" since the apperance of the first photo, as mentioned on [livejournal.com profile] craftgrrl and [livejournal.com profile] knitting, seems to resemble a vagina with a well-placed tampon lol!

So, my best friend and I are planning on redecorating my room with an 'old hollywood dressing room' sort of theme.... I'm getting a daybed with lots of pillows, and an old rotary telephone, and we're using the colors from an italian breakfast at tiffany's movie poster....

does anyone have any idea on any crafty sort of projects I could do for my theme?

thanks!

I'm trying to think of an interesting and unique way to decorate my messenger bag. It's a basic black bag with some pockets on the front flap. I don't want to just put buttons and a band sticker on it like most people do. I was thinking maybe I'd stencil something, but I wanted the CraftGrrls' advice. :)

I've seen many around, but here is how I do it. :) (see, you do learn useful things at school after all!)

i'm painting this on my wall. or at least that's the plan. i've already traced the outline where i want it. my only problem now is what kind of paint to use. i won't need whole gallons and spray painting was a no-no for health reasons. any recommendations? would acrylic be appropriate?
[identity profile] nezchan.livejournal.com

Okay, so I'm working on my next project (work it, baby! work it!), and I've run into something which confuses me greatly. Here's what the pattern reads:

Sk sl st, sl st in each of next 2 sts, sc in each of next 2 sts

I know what that reads as. Skip the first stitch, then slip stitch into the next loop. I've got that. But then it suggests doing another two slip stitches, followed by two single crochets. If it's just to the next loop, what's the difference between a single crochet and a slip stitch? I've never been able to figure that out, and I don't exactly want to mess up my project over something like this.

Help? Anyone? Please?
