Hi, does anyone here know how to make one of these?

Thanks for any ideas you may have!

I finished my first purse last night. What do you think? My "sewing teacher" Mrs. Ellen helped me get started by showing me how to do the base of it (which is made out of leather) and has pink tubing around it first, then I did the rest. Mrs. Ellen got lazy and didn't feel like cutting the jean fabric when she got done sewing it to the base, so she just made pleats...so there's a pleat type thing on the right side of the purse lol. It's made out of black leather for the base, a pant leg from a pair of jeans, and the pink handles and tubing was from an old night gown I had, and the pink lining was fabric Mrs. Ellen gave me from the tailor place she worked at which was a ball gown type fabric.

On one of the TLC shows, they broke a mirror and put pieces of it onto a table. I never finished watching it.. so I'm not sure how they went about it exactly, but i think they used grout to put it on a table. Does anyone have tips for how Id go about this. What it would look like when it's done..? Where do you buy grout?

i just made a bowl out of an old record. it took me two times to get it right. i followed instructions on a website someone had posted the previous day, bake at 100 degrees for 30 secs, no. i ended up breaking the record on accident trying to shape it. apparently it wasn't hot enough. so i followed a tutorial on another website. this one worked ALOT better. <ahref="http://www.pounddesigns.com/recordbowl.htm/">pounddesigns

buttt my question .. is there anything i can do to my bowl? .. its so plain and boring looking

Does anyone know how to make patches? I looked in the FAQ/MEMORIES SECTION but couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance.

Hi gang,
I don't think I've ever posted, but I've been a little crazy about commenting lately. (I love this community!)

Anyway... I was hoping that some of you might have GLUE ADVICE for me. Read more... )

I love working with Shrink plastic (shrinky-dinks type stuff). I love watching it shrivel and shrink under heat, and I'm always amazed at the level of detail retained after the process.
I'd seen larger versions of these little guys at a rubber stamp show, and I thought they would be perfect for shrink plastic. I stamped and cut out the doll parts, stamped random patterns on them and colored them in. The wings were a seperate stamp and followed the same principle. When the plastic was still un-shrunk, I punched holes where the hinges needed to go and then stuck them in the oven to shrink (takes about 2 minutes in a toaster oven). Creating the wire hinges out of one piece of wire took a lot of trial and error, but I finally arrived at a pair of completed fairies.

I just realized that you folks are the perfect resource for a question like this. It's not so much a crafts question as a decorating question, so if I'm breaking any rules here let me know.

I found cheap potted calla liles for wholesale that I'd like to use for a table centerpiece for our wedding, but I don't know how to make the pot look nice. Right now they're in green plastic pots, and look like this:

Any ideas? Ideas that take up more space would be particularly helpful, as the callas (in various shades of purple and white) are tall, but not wide, but that tables are fairly large and boooooring white. The general look of the wedding is purple and green and modern.

Thanks!

i just got some old clip on earrings that i'd like to turn into gauged earrings. i already pulled the clips off the back, so i just need to gauged pieces and i'll be set...so the question is, does anyone know of a site that has gauged backings for earrings or any other alternative?
thankles.

I'm going to attempt to make marble magnets for the first time this weekend (eep!!), and I have a question that I didn't see answered in FAQ.

How big should the images be? I've been using a nickel as a template size, does that seem to be a good size for the image, or should it be bigger? smaller??

Thank you!!

Sorry for the text only post, but i have a big problem. I just got done making a dragon on a wine glass. The dragon is made of polymer clay and the wine glass....is well, made of glass. While making the dragon (he is pure white) i got quite a bit of lint in the clay, so he’s not too pretty. And since he is on the wine glass already i can’t really paint just him, because i don’t think i could go around all the little corners and what-nots without getting paint on the wine glass it’s self. SO i figured that i could just spray paint the whole thing silver so it looks like a decorative goblet. So my question is, will spray paint stick very well to polymer clay and glass. or will I never get the spray paint to stick to either part. Thanks so much for any of your help. I would hate to have to throw him away.... he is so very cute.

I found this little guy over at the house we're renting. One of the previous renters left it there, and so it stayed in the sun and its paint got all cracked and faded.

I felt sorry for the little guy, so I took it home and gave it a fresh coat of paint.

I've named it ...Chee-Chee )

I want to make my girlfriend a necklace, that will require me to attach a jump ring to a metal pendant-y thing I am making. I have some nice low-lead solder, which I think will do the job nicely. Is there a way to seal it, so my girlfriend won't die? Or is there no reason to worry? There's solder in your water pipes, and we don't all run around like a mad hatter. Or is there some easier way to do this, without using solder? Super Glue would be way tacky(worst...pun...ever).

Hey crafty ladies and crafty gents, I have a question. I love making things with shrink plastic. The problem is that my local wal-mart is the most incredibly worthless store EVER and they never have anything in stock and there is no guaruntee that they will even re-stock. So no shrink plastic for me. My question is this: Is there a reasonable priced place online that I can buy it? Or is there something I can use instead? I read somewhere a long time ago that there was a certain type of recyclable plastic that you could use just as well, but I don't know what kind, and I don't know what you'd be able to draw on it with? Permanent markers? Anywho, any help would be very much appreciated. ^^

Oh, and just so this isn't a text only, here are some of my pins that I've been making with the shrink plastic:

Pretty Plastic faces

They're some of my earliest ones, since I haven't taken pics of my latest stuff yet, so they're not quite as good as the newer ones, but you get the idea. Each one is about about four inches tall, or so, counting legs and hair.

okay. I need help.
I have decided to make something for a really
good guy friend of mine.
Some girl completely broke his heart,
and I his bestfriend[and wife] have to boost his spirits,
and let him know how much I care.

So I was thinking I would color a "peanuts" [charlie brown] coloring book, and on each page put a quote from any movie, book, song, or person. I would greatly appreciate it if you would all contribute quotes that you have. I would like the basic theme of them to be friendship and or love.

Thank you for any help you may contribute.

Where is a good place to get grommets? I bought a little grommet kit from a local fabric story but the grommets kept breaking when I would try and pound them through. They wouldn't cut through the fabric but I couldn't seem to punch holes the right size for them. Am I missing something? Any tips for using grommets?

I have one of those plain black Dickies bags that was given to me.
It's way too plain. What else can I do to it to make it not so plain? I already thought of using frabric glue to glue rhinestones to it and such, but I was wondering if anyone else had a better idea.

I looked in the memories, but I didn't see anything, so I thought I'd ask...

My dear boyfriend has gained a "little" weight lately and now his pants for work don't fit. How would I go about letting them out in the waist without totally messing up the pants? They are all nice Dockers type pants and a couple have the pleated front. Any suggestions are appreciated, or if anyone could point me towards a tutorial, that would rock too. :) Thanks!

My cousin is getting married in November. She wants to send out announcements before she sends out the actually invitaions. She had this idea of writing the announcements on scrolls than stuffing them in empty water bottles. The thing is, when you rip off the company brand, there's that glue that doesn't go away. Does anyone have any ideas to help make the glue go away? I heard if you erased stickiness, it goes away. Are there any more ideas on how to make the presentation seem less frugal? Thanks.

Behind the cut is a magazine purse that I made today out of a 2.62 pound "Laffy Taffy" plastic tub. The 1970s Vintage Magazine Clutch Purses inspired me to make some kind of purse out of a fashion magazine since I couldn't afford either a new or Vintage magazine clutch. :o( Following the pics is a description of what I used to make it. And we all know what Demi's famous for right now. ;o)
