Idea?

Cooking can be crafty too, right? At least it seems that many crafty boys and girls are also fantastic in the kitchen.

I got this bright idea yesterday and just can't seem to shake it. I want to compile people's recipes from lj and create an LJ Cook Book. I am sure I am not the first person to think of this and that it has been done before. That doesn't particularly sway me. I think that even if this is the second or third of twentieth time, that it could still be exciting and fun.

I made a light switch cover thing out of my boyfriends picture:

It just looks crooked in the picture. It's not crooked at all.

i live in an apartment and have no work table.

i have hand drills and used to fret about what i was going to drill on.
thus i have discovered yet another use for the "wooden" aol boxes.
it's free and it's portable. plus i really don't care if i mar it/accidentally drill into it.

ok, next month i move into my very first apartment (!) so i have a few questions for anyone who can help me out.

1. i just bought a cheap desk from walmart. it's black and what appears to be fake wood (maybe press-board?). how would i go about painting over the fake wood stuff?

2. my parents are giving me an old kitchen table we have, but the colors don't match our stuff. i was just going to re-paint it a solid color, but does anyone have any good ideas of what i could do with it for a beach themed apartment?

3. i would really like to have curtains around my bed, like a canopy bed. but how would i attach them without screwing up the walls? (seeing how i dont actually have the frame for a canopy bed)

thanks for any help

A friend and I are moving into a new apartment, and we have decided that we are going to paint some accent walls in the living area & dining area, and I am going to paint my entire bathroom.

My question is, do any of you gals (and guys) out there have any ideas/tips of cool things we can do with color/texture? We've brainstormed the idea of painting my bathroom a brick color and sponging over it with khaki and gold paint, and we are looking for similar ideas for the other areas. We are thinking an orangy-red color for the kitchen, and some sort of dark khaki for the living room (we have denim-colored furniture)

We are both so excited about painting it is a bit ridiculous.

Thanks in advance for ideas...

My website is opening on Sunday. I've been beading up a storm this week, as well as taking lots and lots of pictures. My inventory, at this very moment, is up to 89 pieces. I was hoping to get to 100, but 89 is still quite a number!

This set is one of my favorites. Aventurine, Amethyst and lots of silver. I love the liquid silver tubes in the center pair of earrings. I also used sterling silver on the ring that matches with the set. I wear this one out a lot. Definitely my favorite of the moment... So I thought I'd share it with all of you =)

I just caught the thread about how to say "I love you" in many languages (I Love You) and it got me to thinking. Can anyone help do the same thing with the words "motherhood", "fatherhood", and "family"? "Mother" and "Father" would work in a pinch but I prefer the concept over the actual person. Any of our international craftgrrls able to help? Like the original poster, I don't just want to know the pronunciation, I want to see how it is written in that language by the speakers of that language. I'm interested in using the words as graphics, so international symbols/letters/etc are most welcome!

Thanks so much in advance!

Gretchen and I are starting to make stationary. Handmade and cute enough to kill. Tell us what you think, is this a waste of time or not?

DISCLAIMER: There are many pictures behind the cut, if you have a slow computer - it will take a while.

Actually, it's a pseudo skirt. It's really just a piece of stretchy bathing suit material that I put a seam in, but it looks nice. It's just stretchy enough to stay up, too. It's actually quite comfortable...

Yep, I'm a postin' fool!

I finished THIS yesterday...

Made from green chenille that I recycled from a sweater.
(By the way, whoever it was that did the tutorial on unraveling sweaters - I don't remember who you are, but you are a goddess!!!!!)

More pix behind the cut, including semi-details of the fringe...
Still not a model... )

I'm thinking of making a hat to match.

Here's some photos of a gift I made for my lil' sis because we both share a queer sense of humor and she has an annoying streetlight outside of her bedroom window.

She's watching you... )

I'm going to one of my family reunions this coming Sunday, and I am in need of quick cheap ideas. I've looked through all of the memories, but nothing really caught my eye. We have a "White Elephant Sale" each year, which you bring something unwanted in, wrap it up so other people cannot see it, and they auction it off. Most items only go for $.25 to $2. I'm in need of something neat I can do for this. We have two groups adults and children. Any ideas I can whip up in a hurry?

Behind the cut is things I have readily available at my house

Ok, so I am making little pouches made of canvas (around 5 x 7) and need a two color screen print done on the front of them for relatively cheap. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place online that would do it professionally, if I provided the fabric I need to be printed on. I would do it myself, but I haven't the physical ability.

Can anyone recommend a place?

i'm trying to recover a light switch plate with scrapbooking paper to make it a little more fun. i cut out the hole where the actual light switch goes with an xacto knife, but i'm having a little difficulty cutting out circles where the screws go. i'm not too handy with the xacto knife... are there any tricks to doing this? thank you in advance.

Hey gals!
I was wondering if anyone had any receipes for Face Masks, perferably one that 'warms' as you apply it. I have searched all over the internet and all I have found are home made face masks that will rot after two days - two weeks. I would like to make a face mask that will last a long time (ie: won't have egg, milk, yougert, etc in it).

if any of you have any links or ideas, please pass them along!

p.s. am I out of the loop here, or is craftster.org down for forever.. or just temp.? cause it aint working for me :(

recently i was given a beautiful dollhouse. now since its been my lifelong dream to have a real dollhouse i was terribly excited. however it was already assembled and completely unpainted. it also appeared to have barely survived a tornado or two. poor sad dollhouse.

so after several days of sanding, attempted repairs, alot of re-shingling, and some painstaking painting....poor happy dollhouse? )

Hey all y'all crafty people!

I have a question (duh, otherwise, why would I make this post?)
Anyway, I have a million of those little perler beads, you know, the ones you put on the pegboards and iron?
What can I do with them?
[identity profile] asinfulstrange.livejournal.com
Yes... I said my mother in law. She fell in love with my duct tape purse and wanted one of her own. So here it is... (made out of clear duct tape, $1 purse handles from walmart and pictures of her two dogs).
