Last night I was surfing some DIY sites (ohmystars especially) and decided I'd like to try again. (When I was 10 to 12 I'd make my own beanie baby sleeping bags and clothes, and my own pillows, etc. Nothing very fashionable, I can assure you...) Thus, when I got up this morning, I made my mom move the car, I took the ladder down to the attic, and spent a good two hours up in the attic choosing old clothes and fabrics up there to use. Dragged down a ton (as a result now have a huge pile of stuff in my room) and set to work. I decided to do something with an old pair of jeans. I made a REALLY cute purse (teehee, I like it!) out of the top, and then my 6 year old sister, seeing mine, decided she wanted one too, so I took another section of the pant leg, and made her a purse as well. Explanations how I made it

i want to make myself a messenger-type bag for school in the fall, but i can't think of what to make it out of that won't break under the pressure of like 800 books and notebooks. i was thinking maybe corduroy (although i would need to make a bunch of adjustments to my sewing machine that i don't know how to do) or maybe even just make it out of duct tape, so i know it'll be sturdy.

any thoughts? i'm thinking basic messenger-bag format, although i'm not sure how i'm going to do the top (tie/zip/folding flap...).

thanks, kids.

I work at a coffee shop and I get to bring home different types of samples sometimes. Yesterday I got several individually packed tea samples. The packages are very pretty so I'm going to make something with those, but I was wondering if there is anything I could do with the actual tea bag after it's been used? The tea is made with different types of flowers and you can see them through the tea bag paper and it's very pretty, I just can't think of anything to do with them.

So, any suggestions?

Apparently, impulse shopping at the craft store. Woooo.

I bought:
learn-to-knit kit
learn-to-crochet kit
extra crochet needles (my grandma used to crochet, so I'm determined to take up the hobby in her memory)
learn-to-embroider kit
looooots of seed beads
wire and claspage for the making of jewelry
pliers and wirecutters for the making of jewelry without the killing of fingers
brush and fabric paint for long-planned stencil project
more beads for jewelry
and snaps, velcro, and bias tape for the fixing of garments.

My wallet is light, but I feel much, much better :)

I've been lurking around here forever being in awe of all you wonderful ladies and today I decided is the day I am going to post one of my crafts.
A Candleholder I made )

I saw an old air freshner jar there taunting me no longer giving away a smell but still laying around. it was waiting for this craft. That's what I get after I read all of these crafty ideas :). Oh well I like the way it turned out. All I did was take some translucent marbles, a piece of blue paper, some decopauge, an a hot glue gun. And I got this little candleholder.

Hmm. So I was thinking about it today and I really want a seatbelt belt. Its basically a belt that has the ribbon of a seatbelt(or just black stretchy fabric) and then one end is a seat belt clip, and the other is the part that goes in it. Since im cheap and dont want to pay so much for one, does anyone know how I could go about making one?
