Print Gucco

One issue ago, Bust Magazine had an article in their craft section about the Print Gocco machine. Since the article didn't say much, I was wondering whether anyone here uses one/owns one? I looked them up online and found some on ebay, but I was wondering whether or not they were worth the money, and if they were as easy to use as their site claims.

Basically, I am looking for nonbiased reviews.

hi-

long time reader, first time poster. sorry it's a question and not a pretty picture. but PLEASE help.

my mom has been promising to teach me to work her sewing machine for a long while. i know it's never going to happen. a friend once taught me how to use her sewing machine 4 years ago, but i have since forgotten anything i learned. instead of waiting for the day my mom actually says "sure i will stop being lame and teach you how to use the sewing machine," i am taking matters into my own hands.

i want to buy a sewing machine. i want to use it for a great many tasks, like patching pants and making clothes and modifying existing clothes in exciting ways. but i have no idea what sewing machine i should get, if the instructions manual is going to teach me what i need to do, or if i need guidance at all in terms of operating one.

please educate me.

These pics are so cruddy, I'm almost ashamed to post them here. Please forgive me. I should have used daylight. Also, this is a very pics heavy post.

Tziz's (my husband's) jacket )

He's wearing it with a long skirt in the photo. It was made from a McCall's Matrix costume pattern with a few modifications. He digs it. It's almost floor length.

Hi all, two quick questions:
1. Now that I have mastered the art of purling (after three years of knitting) I'm a bit confused about how to block stockinette stitch. I knitted the first and last two rows of my swatch and that was all fine but the side curled in as well. How do I fix that?

2. I have inherited a box of macrame supplies (direct from the '70's) but don't really know what to do with them (other than plant hangers). The jute is about as thick as a small finger which means jewelery is out. Any ideas?

Thanks!

I finally got a couple of images of my "DIY" jean skirt.

It started life as jeans, which became an ankle length skirt, which became this...

so. first off. thank you so freaking much to everyone who told me how to say 'i love you'. i was blown away by the respones i got and didn't answer each because it would have taken me five years. so here it is. thank you, you are amazing, and brilliant. so many languages!

i made this box as a gift for someone, but i don't think i'm ever going to give it to them. i just got into one of those moods where i had to make something.

without further ado.

I work at a daycare and I am in charge of the school age kids for the summer. We have made some interesting things. Well, one day this little girl named Cheryl *SHE IS 9* asked if I wanted a scarf. Then she whipped this up. Cute huh? A skinny scarf for the fall with jeans and a tee.

I <3 my kids.

I'm not sure if I have already posted soem of these, sorry if I have. I'm also sorry that many of the pictures aren't actual pictures but scans from my crummy scanner.

My camera hates black clothing...so the pics aren't the greatest, but this is my black corduroy bag made from [livejournal.com profile] falina's tutorial in the memories...and a matching pencil case inspired by the ones I've seen posted here. :)

So last night I finished another scarf. A smaller one, though.

Made with Red Heart yarn. I think it was baby clouds but I'm not sure. It's thick and nubbly and toasty. Color: Cotton Candy. I think I used about half to 2/3 of the skein. I still have a softball sized ball of it left.

More pix )

My only problem is that I can never seem to keep the same number of stitches/width throughout the whole thing. The green scarf I finished a couple days ago was a few stitches BIGGER at the end than the beginning (still not sure how I pulled THAT one off). But since it was thin yarn, you can't really tell unless you count the fringes. However with this one, somehow I managed to get SMALLER than when I started.

Exhibit A:

Aside from counting "1..2..3..4..5..6.." every row and driving myself NUTS, do yall know of any way I can prevent said size/stitch discrepancies from occurring?

So I've been working on this altered book (you take a normal book and then cut it up/add stuff inside/paint it/whatever artsy type stuff you like to make it into art instead of just a book) for my boyfriend for over half a year. I'm such a procrastinator. I haven't finished a single page yet. Everything behind the cut is a work in progress but I felt like sharing what I've done so far:

Do any of you brilliant crafty ladies and gentlemen know where I can find a pattern or hopefully tutorial for these Thai wrap pants? They look so comfy! They sell them on ebay but I'd love to make my own.:

Thanks so much!

SKIRTOLA!

I had this vintage curtain fabric that my grandmother had donated to my "sewingscraps" bin. It was just dying to be experimented on. This was the first time I've ever used a pattern, and despite the crappy pictures that don't do it justice, this skirt ROCKS. It's comfortable, warm enough for winter, but airy enough for summer, twirly, and it kicks so much ass my bum was sore just sewing it.
SKIRT! )
I even learned how to sew elastic! I've had such a productive day, I'm the queen of unemployed domesticity! WOO! I even made devilled eggs!
